Lars from Go Jetters
Lars is a member of the Go Jetters, a group of four heroes who travel the world in the British animated children’s series. Lars is the resident expert mechanic who can fix just about anything. Even though he’s British, he loves the Eiffel Tower in France. His catchphrase is “Geographic!”
Mark Watney from The Martian
Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon) is the unfortunate protagonist of both the book and the filmĀ The Martian. A sand storm leaves him stranded on Mars when the rest of his crew has reason to believe he’s dead. It becomes his mission to survive until they come back and rescue him.
While a full astronaut’s suit might seem like the most obvious costume for Mark Watney, it’s not his most iconic outfit from the film. That honor belongs to the clothes he wears while terraforming the inside of his habitat so he can grow crops.
The outfit is very simple and consists of light grey slip on shoes, grey cargo pants, a blue henley, and an official NASA sweatshirt in navy. Safety goggles and blue gloves can be added to recreate specific scenes when he was working with the soil. To really round out the costume, though, you’ll want to bring a few potatoes with you. And maybe some ketchup. Because Mark Watney will be the first to say that potatoes are always better with ketchup.
Among Us
Hm, red is looking kind of sus. Among Us is a multiplayer game about teamwork and betrayal. Similar to “Mafia” or “Push the Button,” one of your fellow astronauts is an impostor. As crewmate, your is to complete all your tasks, but as the impostor, your goal is to sabotage and kill everyone. Made for both mobile and desktop, the game has amassed a huge following this year, with 300,000 players per day and #1 in Simulation on the App Store. This costume requires some DIY for painting the helmet and dyeing the suit. While yellow is featured in this guide, you can swap out for the color of your choice. If you want to be an impostor, you can brandish a bloody prop knife and splatter some fake blood on the costume.
Howard Wolowitz
Despite a highly successful career as an engineer and astronaut, Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) gets mocked constantly by his friends in The Big Bang Theory. He considers himself a ladies man, but that female attention comes mainly from his mother.
