Gretel Grant-Gomez from Hamster & Gretel
Gretel Grant-Gomez (voiced by Meli Povenmire) is the titular protagonist of the Disney Channel series Hamster & Gretel. Gretel is an energetic, outgoing kid who moonlights as a superhero. Gretel’s usual attire consists of an orange skirt, and a light teal blouse with sneakers to match. When she transforms into a superhero, her costume consists almost exclusively of shades of pink. You can add a “G” to the front of your shirt easily with some fabric paint; just make sure it has plenty of time to dry! No matter which version of Gretel’s costume you choose to recreate, don’t forget the blonde bob, blue headband, tall white crew socks, and trusty hamster sidekick.
Gwen Blake from The Black Phone
Gwen Blake (played by Madeleine McGraw) is the sister of Finney Blake in The Black Phone. Gwen experiences psychic dreams that shed light on The Grabber and his previous victims. Gwen wears a variety of 70s-inspired fashion choices, often favoring hues of red and yellow that run the spectrum. When recreating some of her looks, remember it’s okay to be a little interpretive, since it’s unlikely you’ll find exact copies of these vintage fashions. For her pinafore dress, you can look for one with similar colors or patterns to layer over your turtleneck. If your hair isn’t long enough to braid, a brown wig can be fashioned into pigtails instead.
Future Edd from Eddsworld
Future Edd (voiced by Edd Gould) is a villain in the web cartoon Eddsworld intent on killing his past self to avoid a bad life. Future Edd dresses much like his younger self, though with a markedly darker overall look. He also sports a heavy trench coat and a scruffy beard. To recreate the beard, if you’re unwilling to grow one of your own, you can use a brown pencil meant for filling in eyebrows to give yourself a faux five o’clock shadow.
Pete McGee from The Ghost and Molly McGee
Pete McGee (voiced by Jordan Klepper) is the father of Molly and Darryl on the Disney Channel series The Ghost and Molly McGee. Pete is an anxious man with an optimistic streak. A lover of smooth jazz, Pete is married to Sharon. Pete wears light blue jeans and blue sneakers, with a dark green sweater layered over a button-down. He also has a bit of five o’clock shadow, so put away the razor for a few days if you want to really sell the look.
Puff Puff Humbert from Your Favorite Martian
Puff Puff Humbert (voiced by Ray William Johnson) is the lead singer of the fictitious cartoon band at the heart of Your Favorite Martian. Puff Puff’s design has undergone some changes over the years, particularly during a rebranding period for the show when it was revived in 2022. His latest iteration includes spiky, asymmetrical hair, and black-framed glasses in an octagonal shape. Top off your simple costume with a microphone and your favorite YFM tunes to really sell the experience.
Dave Madson from davemadson’s LT Parodies
Dave Madson is the creative mind behind the YouTube channel and series davemadson’s LT parodies, a parody cartoon account. Dave’s animation style is simplistic and relies on flat colors, making for an easy costume assembly. To look like Dave from the LT parody episodes, you’ll need a black wig, red hat, grey shirt, and blue pants. Top the outfit off with white high tops and black sunglasses. If you’re not interested in growing a pencil mustache of your own, a black eyebrow pencil will suffice to draw one on.
Lara Croft from Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Lara Croft (voiced by Camilla Luddington) is back in the latest iteration of the well-known adventure game. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third, and reportedly, last, game in the Survivor Timeline of the series. Lara’s look remains as gritty and practical as in earlier installments, with dark cargo pants, fingerless gloves, and a blue and black tank top as her primary costume. It’s unlikely you’ll find pieces to exactly match her in-game outfits, so focus on getting as close as you can. Lara uses a pickaxe that would set you back several hundred dollars, so if you decide to accessorize with one, don’t be afraid to go with a cheaper model.
Andrea Davenport from The Ghost and Molly McGee
Andrea Davenport (voiced by Jules Medcraft) is a top streamer and former nemesis of Molly McGee on the cartoon series The Ghost and Molly McGee. Andrea can come across as egotistical, but it is eventually revealed that she’s very lonely, thereby becoming a friend of Molly and Libby Stein-Torres. Andrea has ombre hair and wears a pink hoodie and purple skirt with white boots.
Honest John from Pinocchio (2022)
J. Worthington Foulfellow, better known as Honest John (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key), is an anthropomorphic fox and con artist in the 2022 live-action remake of Pinocchio. Honest John is charismatic as can be, and eventually convinces Pinocchio to join Stromboli after trapping Jiminy Cricket in a jar so he can’t intervene. Honest John’s outfit is a hodgepodge of different elements. First, you’ll need plaid pants and a red jacket as well as a blue and gold shawl fashioned like a cape with a gold chain to hold it in place. Though your first instinct may be to get brown plaid dress pants, a pair of pajama bottoms may better emulate the bagginess of Honest John’s movie look. You’ll also need a fox mask, tail, and slippers to pair with your outfit. The finishing touches include a top hat, cane, and white gloves with ruffled cuffs.
The Corinthian from The Sandman
The Corinthian (played by Boyd Holbrook) is a character from Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel The Sandman. The Corinthian is a nightmare created by Dream, who makes his way into the waking world where he indulges in murder and influences others to give in to their darker tendencies. In the Netflix adaptation, the Corinthian wears a long light grey trench coat and round-lens sunglasses to hide his “eyes,” which unlike humans are actually rows of teeth. He dresses well otherwise, so lean into your preppier side when recreating his look for a costume. He also favors a dagger as a weapon when not using his supernatural powers.
