Rick Flag from The Suicide Squad

Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) is a character in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn. He served as a colonel in the U.S. Army as well as a special operations forces specialist. In the first Suicide Squad (2016), he led Task Force X and a team of Navy Seals to defeat Enchantress. His success allowed him to continue in the leadership position with a new team. Five years later, their mission is to go to Corto Moltese to destroy Jotunheim, and then execute Project Starfish. However, this was actually a cover-up for a government mistake. Peacemaker was a spy on the inside, and he murders Flag in attempt to complete the mission.

Risty Wilde from X-Men: Evolution

Risty Wilde from X-Men: Evolution

Risty Wilde (voiced by Nicole Oliver) drove fans wild when she first showed up in X-Men: Evolution. With her British accent and punk hair, fans were sure Risty would eventually become Psylocke or was at least fashioned after her. They were shocked to find out she was actually Mystique trying to stay close to Rogue using a fake identity the way only Mystique can.

Unlike Mystique’s usual blue appearance, Risty’s look will rely less on body paint and more in hairstyle. A black bob with purple streaks clipped in, to be specific. For her usual outfit, all you need is a beige long sleeve shirt, dark red pants, and blank ankle booties. They’re pieces that can fit into your usual wardrobe or easily transition to other cosplays, making this not only a great cosplay by itself but also a great option for people traveling to a convention or with limited space to store their cosplays

Melina from Black Widow

Melina Vostokoff from Black Widow

Mother figure or Red Room mentor, it can be hard to tell where Melina Vostokoff’s loyalties lie until the very end. Played by the enchanting Rachel Weisz, it’s hard not to like her even when you’re not sure if she has Natasha’s best interests at heart. It all works out in the end, of course. Widows, after all, have to stick together.

For Melina’s look you want to start with a long brown wig that can be braided using tutorials from YouTube. A costume rifle also gives you her weapon of choice. If you want to go with her widow look, you’ll want a white Widow Suit. For her home look, a black canvas jacket, black cargo pants, black boots, and a dark blue long sleeve shirt are great options that can also transition into other cosplays. The pet pig is, of course, optional.

Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad

Peacemaker from The Suicide Squad

Christopher Smith (played by John Cena), better known by his moniker Peacemaker, is a violent extremist who believes no amount of carnage is too much if it achieves peace.  In The Suicide Squad movie, Peacemaker works with other members of Task Force X including Polka-Dot Man, Bloodsport, and Ratcatcher 2 to stop the giant extraterrestrial Starro the Conquerer.  Peacemaker’s costume is reminiscent of classic super heroes, with a red, white and blue color palette and a silver mask.  Finding his exact shirt can be difficult, so don’t be afraid to use a plain red t-shirt as a cost effective stand-in.

Queen Ramonda from Black Panther

Queen Ramonda from Black Panther

When you think of a queen, you likely think of poise and grace. You probably think of beauty and wisdom, too. Queen Ramonda of Wakanda embodies all of these traits as well as the strength and foresight to lead her people after both of her children are lost in Thanos’ snap. She is a natural queen played by Angela Bassett, a queen in her own right and star of numerous hit productions.

Mimicking Queen Ramonda’s royal bearing isn’t easy, but you can start with her look. The most iconic piece of her costume is the isicholo or Zulu hat that she wears. There are many tutorials on YouTube or you can purchase one from at Etsy seller, such as the one pictured above. She wears two different versions throughout the film, one in black and one in white. With her white isicholo hat she wears flat profile earrings, thumb rings, and the kimoyo beads that all Wakandans seem to wear.

Queen Ramonda also wears a white A-Line gown and a shoulder mantle. In the movie the mantle is 3-D printed. However the file linked here is for a laser-cut version.

Finally, the Queen’s shoes are not seen. Because of this, three options have been included. One is a pair of white dress sands, the second a pair of white lace heels, and the third a pair of white flats.
