Chanticleer from Rock-a-Doodle

Chanticleer from Rock-a-Doodle

Chanticleer (voiced by Glen Campbell) is the Elvis Presley of roosters. Pretty literally. His character from the 1991 animated film Rock-A-Doodle is clearly based on the beloved late crooner, complete with a plume that he dyes black after making it big in the city. And just like Elvis he has both a simple country look and a slick city look, both of which are easily adapted for either male or female cosplayers.

For Chanticleer’s country look you’ll want a white button down shirt, a black belt, jeans, and either yellow boots or costume chicken feet, depending on the look you’re going for. You’ll also want to style your hair in a pompadour and use red spray dye or opt for a long red wig to simulate his plume, as well as his red, green, and purple tail. If you want a more chicken-esque look you can also get a fake beak.

If you want Chanticleer’s City look you’ll need purple pants and a matching belt, a red cowboy shirt, and either a black pompadour wig or a long black wig. You can use the same chicken feet as his country look as well as the belt and the beak, if you’re using one. If you wear boots, however, you’ll probably want to sub in some black leather ones to match the belt. And of course no big city crooner would be complete without his microphone.

Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 3

Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 3 Remake

In the 2020 remake for Resident Evil 3, Jill Valentine was redesigned from the 1996 design. The game designers explain that with the graphical limitations of the original, they had to design her to visually stand out — and that meant a tube top and mini skirt. With the improved photorealistic graphics of the remake, Jill got a makeover, fitting into the world better with more practical tactical while keeping her iconic style.

Sinestro from Green Lantern

Sinestro from Green Lantern

Thaal Sinestro (played by Mark Strong) is a member of the Green Lantern Corps. And when Hal Jordan joins the Corp, Sinestro becomes his mentor. Not that he’s happy about it, of course. And though he saves Hal in the end, Sinestro’s fate isn’t exactly a happy one.

The hardest part of Sinestro’s costume is his non-human appearance. You can either use black hair spray and then slick your hair back with pomade or you can use a bald cap and black body paint to recreate his hair line. In either case you’ll also want a pair of pointy ears and red body paint, as well as a fake mustache.

With that part covered you’ll want to get a bodysuit and the Green Lantern Corps ring next. Then you can finish off the look with green gloves and green boot covers.

Charlotte Pickles from Rugrats

Charlotte Pickles from Rugrats

Charlotte Pickles (voiced by Tress MacNeille) is the stereotype of a ’90s career mom. She barks orders, demands progress, and knows exactly how she wants everything to go. Angelica had to get it from somewhere, after all.

Charlotte’s style is exactly what you’d expect for a career woman fresh from the ’80s. She wears her blonde hair in a high ponytail held in place by a blue scrunchy. Her red lips match both her stud earrings and her tie. Her white button down always pairs perfectly with either a blue or grey shoes and heels that match. And of course she never goes anywhere without her briefcase and her phone. Unfortunately her phone model is now a classic and very expensive (unless you want an inflatable novelty version) but a phone case can get you a look that is pretty close!

Boba Fett from The Mandalorian

Boba Fett from The Mandalorian

Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) has seen the rise and fall of some of the greatest powers in the galaxy. And by the time of The Mandalorian both his armor and his view of the world reflects that.

While fans of the wider Star Wars universe might remember Boba’s armor from better days, it’s in fairly rough shape by the time he appears in the Disney+ series. Whether new or old, Boba Fett’s armor does not come cheap. Several Etsy sellers have options available, one of which is listed here. This particular seller has several price points available that can either include or leave out the jet pack.

Once you have the armor, you will need the pieces that go underneath it. A long sleeve black shirt in a breathable fabric is perfect on Tatooine while a white gambeson makes a great foundation for the upper body armor. The one pictured above is black but it can be ordered in white and the sleeves are attached with cording so they are easily removed, as is the additional length on the bottom. You will also need black gloves and loose black pants in addition to black boots. Boba Fett is also bald which you can either recreate with a bald cap or leave out by sticking with the helmet or putting your own spin on Boba Fett’s look.

Irene from Drive

Irene from Drive

There is no real happy ending for Irene (played by Carey Mulligan). At least not with Driver. With her husband dead and Driver gone, Irene can only focus on doing what’s best for her son. That’s hard enough when you live in the world that Irene lives in.

Irene is the perfect closet cosplay option. She is a normal person with a closet like many other women. For Standard’s return party she wears a patterned tank top, a maxi skirt, and sandals. And, of course, the gold chain necklace she wears through most of the movie and her signature blonde bob.

tuxedo mask from sailor moon

Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon

Tuxedo Mask (voiced by Tohru Furuya and Robbie Daymond) is a main character in the anime series Sailor Moon.  Real name Mamoru Chiba, Tuxedo Mask is the reincarnation of Prince Endymion and the love interest of Sailor Moon.  Tuxedo Mask’s costume is all in the name.  Mamoru dons a tuxedo, complete with top hat and cape, as well as glasses that obscure his identity.  Top off your look with a single red rose for the lucky Sailor Moon in your life.

Omni-Man

Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, is a main character in the comic book and animated series, Invincible. He comes from the planet Viltrum, and his kind uses their super abilities to protect other planets. On Earth, Nolan is known as Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero. When he falls in love with Debbie, they start a family and raise their son, Mark Grayson. He trains his son on how to harness his inherited powers and become a hero like him under the moniker Invincible. However, after he murders the Guardians of the Globe, the audience realizes he’s up to something more sinister. J.K. Simmons voices Omni-Man in the animated series, which is a perfect casting choice given his appearance as J. Jonah Jameson in the Spiderman movies.

Invincible

Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, is the protagonist of the eponymous comic book series and animated show. He is the son of Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, and Debbie Grayson. Due his father’s lineage, Mark is half-Viltrumite, and thus possesses similar powers. This includes super speed, super strength, and the ability to fly. As he steps into his new identity as Invincible, Mark must balance his normal teenage life with protecting the Earth. Walking Dead star Steven Yeun voices Mark in the show, now streaming on Amazon Prime.
