Mayaka from Hyouka
Mayaka Ibara is a member of the Classic Literature Club, and attends Kamiyama High School. She also volunteers as an assistant in the library, and is part of the Manga Club. Mayaka can be nit-picky and stubborn, but is nice overall. Mayaka joins the adventures of the Classic Literature Club in Hyouka.
Anne Shirley Cuthbert from Anne with an E
Anne Shirley is the protagonist of the Canadian TV series, Anne with an E. The show is an adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, the literary classic by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Played by Amybeth McNulty, Anne Shirley Cuthbert is a thirteen year old girl growing up in the late 1800s. Despite a difficult childhood, Anne is remarkably resilient. She has a determined spirit, fierce intellect, and a wonderful imagination. She enjoys reading, storytelling, and journalism.
Lydia Martin
Lydia Martin (Holland Roden) is a main character in MTV’s Teen Wolf. She starts out as a preppy popular girl, who quickly recruits Allison Argent as her new best friend. Later on, she plays a crucial role to resurrecting Derek Hale‘s uncle, Peter. This all gets explained in the third season, as Lydia is revealed to be a banshee. It is also revealed that she is much smarter than she lets on. For instance, she nonchalantly mentions her knowledge of archaic Latin. The rest of the show follows her adjustment to her supernatural powers as well as her romantic relationship with Stiles Stilinski.
Takita from Drifting Dragons
Takita is a young rookie aboard the Draking ship, Quin Zaza, and despite her inexperience, she is not the only quirky one with a mysterious past in the crew. Her time on the ship teaches her life skills and helps her to pay off her debts. The interesting thing about the Quin Zaza crew’s uniforms is that they’re styled not unlike real-world chef uniforms, which seems appropriate for a cooking anime/manga.
Murray Bauman from Stranger Things
In the second season of Stranger Things, Murray Bauman (played by Brett Gelman) is introduced as a private investigator hired by Barb‘s parents to look into her disappearance. Murray also plays an important role in Nancy and Jonathan‘s investigation into the Hawkins lab. Murray is bit nutty and a conspiracy theorist, but he is also shown to be intelligent and dedicated to uncovering the truth.
Lenore from Castlevania
Lenore (voiced by Jessica Brown Findlay in Castlevania) is one of the members of Styria’s Council of Sisters. Carmilla placed Lenore in charge of convincing Hector the forge master to join their side again after being tortured and kept as a prisoner for months. Lenore’s personality matches her occupation as the council’s diplomat. She fronts as trusting and kind with good intentions but is actually quite manipulative and works connivingly to get her way. Lenore’s style is quite dainty. She wears a warm outfit due to the cold climate she and her sisters live in. If you are dressing for a summer or warm weather cosplay event I recommend going with something short-sleeved and wearing a lighter white shawl. Make sure to apply blush liberally across your cheekbones! This is a great costume and ideal for any late fall/winter cosplay event or costume party.
Rui from Demon Slayer
Rui is an antagonist in the hit anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba. He belonged to the Twelve Demon Moons as the Lower Moon Five. Known as the Spider Demon, he could weave spider webs between his fingers that captured and slashed his enemies to pieces. Rui had weak and fragile body, and Muzan Kibutsuji offered to “save” him by turning him into a demon. After killing his parents, Rui tries to fill those roles with his makeshift “Spider Family.” When he entraps Nezuko with the intent to make her his sister, Tanjiro kills him. In the afterlife, he reunites with his parents, who show their child forgiveness.
Benny Watts from The Queen’s Gambit
In the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit, Benny Watts (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) is a rival chess player to Beth Harmon who goes on to become one of her closest friends and ally. He’s confident, brash, and has a unique style — especially for a chess player in the 1960s — complete with cowboy hat, silver jewelry, and a knife on his belt.
Beth Harmon from The Queen’s Gambit
In the Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit, Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) is chess prodigy troubled by an orphaned upbringing who rises to the highest ranks of the chess world while struggling with drug and dependency issues. As Beth grows and changes, her fashion style follows suit. But throughout, her gorgeous 1960s clothes keep a chess motif, including black and white palette and a chessboard pattern. By the end of the series, her outfit mirrors the white queen.
