Women
Sandy from Grease
Sandy is one of the iconic characters from the 1978 musical film Grease, and is played by Olivia Newton-John. Grease follows the life of high school students in the 1950s, specifically the story of Sandy and Danny who had a romance over the summer before the school year. Sandy is a sweet new student from Australia and in the end of the film, transforms into her very recognizable all-black and leather costume.
To dress like Sandy from the film, wear a yellow pastel sweater and skirt, a white collared blouse, white ruffled socks and white sneakers. For her look at the end of the movie, wear a black cropped leather jacket, an off-the-shoulder fitted top, black leather leggings, a black waist belt, and red heels.
Aubrey from Pitch Perfect
Aubrey is a character from the 2012 film Pitch Perfect, and is played by Anna Camp. Pitch Perfect is a comedy that follows Beca, a college student that joins the all-girls singing group at her school called The Bellas who take on the rival all-male group in competition.
Aubrey is one of the co-leaders of The Barden Bellas. To dress like the first look we see her in, wear a hot pink midi short sleeve dress. To dress like the iconic stage uniform of the Bella’s, wear a navy cardigan over a white button shirt, navy pencil skirt, and a yellow printed scarf worn around the neck.
Olette from Kingdom Hearts 2
Olette (voiced in Japanese by Yuka Hirasawa and in English by Jessica DiCicco [KH2]) is one of the main characters that appears in Twilight Town in the Kingdom Hearts game series.
She is one of Roxas’ friends in the simulated Twilight Town, as well as a major character in the real one, and is part of his group with Pence and Hayner. She’s one of the more level-headed ones of the group, as she’s more often than not trying to get the others to behave.
Olette has chocolatey brown hair worn spiked out to the sides and with two long tails reaching down to her shoulders, and her eyes are a bright green. For her KH2 outfit she wears an orange tank top with white borders and flowers patterned across it, and possibly either a black undershirt or sports bra underneath. Her pants are a soft toned creamy yellow pair of capris, which she pairs with orange and white socks that match her shirt, and white, gold, and black shoes. The look is finished off with a teal beaded bracelet and a matching single bead black corded necklace.
Neferpitou from Hunter x Hunter
Neferpitou (voiced in Japanese by Ayumi Fujimura and in English by Sarah Williams) is part of the royal guards in the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter x Hunter.
They were the first of the guards to hatch, and put in charge of guarding their new king, Meruem, at the behest of his mother. Pitou is the science specialist of the group, and is in charge of understanding the concept of Nen, and how to use it to the ant’s advantage. Like most of the others, they are a fusion of an animal with the base ant, and have many cat features, in addition to doll looking joints.
Pitou has fluffy chin-length white hair, with a matching cat tail and unmatching light yellow cat ears, and gradiented reddish-yellow eyes. Their outfit consists of a deep blue peacoat with golden buttons, muted orange shorts and matching socks, and blue slip on shoes.
Lucy from Fallout (Wedding Gown)
A new TV series has been going viral online for its spot-on live action adaptation of the video game franchise Fallout that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. This series depicts the aftermath of The Great War of 2077, where survivors take refuge in fallout shelters or Vaults, which are actually all created as different experiments on the people who live in them. It follows a woman named Lucy who leaves Vault 33 to find her father in the dangerous wasteland of what is left of Los Angeles. She runs into a Ghoul bounty hunter, originally named Cooper Howard. He was a film actor before the war. In this guide I’ll be covering her costume from Episode 1, which takes on a transformation itself: going from a clean wedding dress to a bloodied and battle-ready one.
To dress like Lucy in her wedding costume in episode one, wear a 50s style retro white wedding dress as the base. For the one linked here, remove the sleeves for a more screen-accurate look. Adding a white petticoat will also give the skirt that fuller look. With this, pair a white clip-in veil, white retro heels, and a sunflower bouquet.
For the version in the later half of the episode where she gets to fighting, use red fabric paint for the blood stain on her dress. Black acrylic or fabric paint can be added at different layers towards the center for a more realistic look. To mimic the belt across her chest, you can wear a bullet belt/ sash. She also wears a contraption on her wrist that we continue to see throughout the series that in the game is called a Pipboy 3000, and like the one linked below, artists sell various versions of the prop they create online. Either wear a wig or style your hair like Lucy’s and add some red splatters on your face and arms to take the look even further.
Beatrice from Over the Garden Wall
Beatrice is a character in the Cartoon Network miniseries Over the Garden Wall. She and her family lived at the Old Mill. They were turned into bluebirds by the wicked Adelaide, who sends her to kidnap Wirt and Greg. However, Beatrice has a change of heart and becomes their ally, guiding the two brothers through the Unknown. Despite her grumpiness and nagging (especially towards Wirt), she is also brave and headstrong. The winged scissors make a great accessory, which clips her wings to make her human again.
Beca from Pitch Perfect
Beca is the main character from the 2012 film Pitch Perfect, and is played by Anna Kendrick. Pitch Perfect is a comedy that follows Beca, a college student that joins the all-girls singing group at her school called The Bellas who take on the rival all-male group in competition.
Beca has a much edgier style than most of The Bellas, reflecting her dream of being a DJ. There are a couple looks that can be recreated like this one with a gray sleeveless cardigan layered over a maroon lace-edge tank top, or her look with a cropped plaid blazer, a navy long sleeve shirt with lace detail, and a gray scarf.
Michelle Mallon from Derry Girls
Michelle Mallon (played by Jamie-Lee O’Donnell) is a supporting character in the Netflix series Derry Girls. A student at Our Lady Immaculate, she is friends with Erin Quinn, Orla McCool, and Clare Devlin. Michelle drinks often and has a brash personality. She is not shy about her sexuality and typically unfazed by others’ opinions of her. Michelle has dark curly hair she often wears pulled back away from her face. Her school uniform consists of a plaid skirt, striped tie, and green blazer. Outside of school, she wears a variety of outfits, though her signature silver hoops remain a staple.
Mary Jane McDoodle from 60 Seconds!
Mary Jane is the eldest child of Dolores and Ted and the sister of Timmy. In 60 Seconds! she and her family must try and survive for as long as possible in an underground shelter after a nuclear explosion. Mary Jane looks a lot like her dad. She wears her black hair in a high ponytail and wears a navy pleated skirt, a peter pan collar blouse, and brown shoes with white socks. You can cut the red ribbon out of a wig with a pre-made ponytail and use a bright pink hair tie instead.
Emma Bloom from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
Miss Peregrine is one of the main characters in the film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, based off of the book by Ransom Riggs. This movie is directed by Tim Burton and it definitely is fitting in its style. Emma is played by Ella Purnell. The movie is about a boy named Jacob we follow through the story as he is transported into the past where a home of orphans with special powers live.
Emma is one of the children at the home and her special ability is floating and air. To dress like Emma, wear a light blue dress, a small brown watch, platform buckle boots to mimic the ones she wears to weigh her down to the ground, and a blonde wig.
