Karen Page from Daredevil

Karen Page from Daredevil

Karen Paige (played by Deborah Ann Woll in both Daredevil and The Punisher) is a secretary-turned-sleuth that works with Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson. After nearly being convicted of a murder she didn’t commit she goes to work with the two men and ends up embroiled in a whole new Battle for New York that lands her in the direct path of the most dangerous people in the city. Not least of which are Daredevil and The Punisher. Smart and determined, though, Karen makes it through and does her best to keep her friends alive and together in the process.

Although Karen often ends up in dangerous situations she dresses professionally. She wears her long blonde wig down and prefers blouses with pencil skirts and stilettos. Though she usually wears little to no makeup she will dress up as the occasion calls for. And of course she is never without paper, pen, and her phone so she can keep track of the news and clues that come her way.

Carl Showalter from Fargo

Carl Showalter played by Steve Buscemi is one of the two antagonists in the 1996 film Fargo. Carl and his partner Gaear Grimsrud are hired by Jerry Lundegaard to kidnap his wife so he can use the ransom money to hide that he has been embezzling money from his car dealership. Carl is very talkative with a short temper and hates smoking. This outfit is perfect for fall and should be very comfortable for going out.

Tauriel from The Hobbit

Tauriel from The Hobbit

Tauriel (played by Evangeline Lily) is a career soldier. She is loyal to her people and the Middle Earth as a whole. Her loyalty to good is so strong that it lands her at odds with her own leader but she still has to do what’s right.

Cosplaying Tauriel is much the same as cosplaying any Tolkien. A green tunic, brown braces, brown quiver, brown leather vest, and brown boots make up her clothing. An elven bow and blade are her weapons of choice. And of course no Tauriel costume would be complete without her long ginger hair and pointy ears. The ears featured above are blue as a base color so that ever cosplayer can customize them to their specific skin tone.

With songs like “Always Be My Baby” and “Hero,” she has won five Grammy awards. If you want a high glam diva aesthetic, opt for the wig and bodycon dress. And  there’s always her Santa outfit from her hit holiday single, “All I Want For Christmas is You.” To fully transform into this iconic pop star, you can follow this makeup tutorial.

Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees

Siouxsie Sioux (real name Susan Janet Ballion) is best known as the lead singer of British post-punk band Siouxsie and the Banshees as well as The Creatures. 77UK punk style is a lot about layering and excess. Including the materials that are listed here, if you have extra chain jewelry at home, feel free to add to the costume. Another important detail for this outfit is hair and make-up. For the hair, apply the coloring pomade and brush it through so there are no clumps. Use the crimper in a few random spots to add texture. and tease from the back until it feels right to you! The pomade should hold everything in place so you wont need hairspray. Look up tutorials for hair teasing so you can be confident you are doing it right. There are also great tutorials online for mimicking Siouxsie’s iconic eyemake up! This look will be an ideal choice for Halloween night.

Kyoko from River City Girls

Kyoko from River City Girls

While Kyoko (voiced by Kira Buckland) is in detention with her best friend their boyfriends are kidnapped by local criminals. With nobody else to help, the girls take matter in their own hands in the beat-em-up brawler game River City Girls.

Kyoko’s costume is a great choice for closet cosplay. A long ginger wig and red headband with a bow starts off the costume. A blue and white Letterman’s jacket, a white button up shirt, red tie, and grey pleated skirt create her uniform. Her black and white knee-high socks and blue sneakers probably aren’t dress code though!

Valkyrie Cain from Skulduggery Pleasant

Valkyrie Cain from Skulduggery Pleasant

Valkyrie Cain is Skulduggery Pleasant‘s young protege in elemental magic. Born Stephanie Edgley to a fairly average Irish family, she took on a new name inspired by the phrase “raising Cain” (making trouble). Her costume is specially made by a magical tailor who designed it to be highly durable and protective — a necessity in Valkyrie’s field.
