Cartoons
Betelgeuse
Betelgeuse, also known as “Beetlejuice” is a trickster and mischievous ghost. He is the titular antagonist of the Tim Burton film Beetlejuice as well as the protagonist of the 90s cartoon series. Known as a “bio-exorcist,” Betelgeuse is able to get rid of the living from the homes of the dead. Say his name three times, and he is summoned.
Summer Smith
Summer Smith (Spencer Grammer) is the sassy teenage sister of Morty Smith (Justin Roiland) and granddaughter of mad scientist Rick Sanchez (also voiced by Justin Roiland) in Adult Swim’s Rick & Morty. While she and Morty often fight in the way that siblings do (or perhaps to a greater, more chaotic extent thanks to the ordeals their grandfather gets them into), the pair really does care for each other, although Summer often expresses jealousy in not experiencing the same adventures.
Bobby Generic
Bobby (voiced by Howie Mandel), is the main character of Bobby’s World, a little boy with an overactive imagination. Bobby is a literal thinker and it is evident throughout each episode when a character uses idioms and other figures of speech.
Norman from Mighty Max
In Mighty Max, Norman is Max’s Viking bodyguard, who after failing to prevent his father’s defeat, vowed to become the greatest warrior that ever lived. After a lifetime of battle, Norman was appointed by Virgil to his current role. He earned his immortality by defeating the Conqueror, an undefeated champion, and swore to defend the Mighty One with his life if necessary. As the Mighty One’s bodyguard, Norman is usually serious; but unlike Virgil, seems to enjoy Max’s carefree ways. Norman’s exploits through the ages were the basis of numerous legends, including Thor, Hercules, Samson, Lancelot, and Little John, presumably among others.
Ms. Bellum
In The Powerpuff Girls, Ms. Sara Bellum (voiced by Jennifer Martin) is the deputy of the mayor and not just a beauty, but the brains behind the operation. At least we assume she’s a beauty, we haven’t been able to glimpse her face as it’s always cut off from the screen or blocked by her lush red hair.
Spike Spiegel
In Cowboy Bebop, Spike Spiegel is a bounty hunter and crew member aboard the Bebop, a converted interplanetary fishing vessel re-purposed for bounty hunting. Spike is lazy, carefree, and almost always smoking a cigarette.
Diane Nguyen
Diane Nguyen (Alison Brie) is a Boston-born author, ghostwriter for BoJack (Will Arnett), and wife of Mr. Peanutbutter (Paul F. Tompkins) in the show BoJack Horseman. She is one of the few main characters that is human. Whether she’s wearing her Starbucks apron or her staple green jacket, Diane always has telltale red/orange arrows on her clothes at the waist. Add these to an existing jacket with fabric paint (you can paint the yellow bands on her boots, too!)
Harold Hutchins
Harold Hutchins and his best friend George Beard are the creators of the comic book character, Captain Underpants, who comes to life after they hypnotize their principal, Mr. Krupps, into thinking he’s the superhero.
Stu Pickles
Stu Pickles is the wacky toy inventor father of “Rugrats” main protagonist Tommy Pickles. He is a loving and kind father, but like most of the parents in the Rugrats cast, including his wife Didi, he is oblivious and often outsmarted by the babies in the show.
Shotaro Kaneda
Shotaro Kaneda is the leader of the Capsules biker gang and the main protagonist of the Akira manga and anime franchise. He is former best friends with Tetsuo Shima, who he must turn against when the latter goes mad with power.
