Dr. Carlisle Cullen is a character in the Twilight saga. Born in London around 1640, he is the founder and leader of the Olympic coven, which consists of the Cullen family. He is the adoptive father of Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, and Edward, as well as the husband of Esme. Despite being a vampire, Carlisle always shows mercy and understanding. His compassion for humankind allowed him to adopt a "vegetarian" diet, as well as maintain a career in the medical field. In fact, Edward had been his patient, and due to a case of fatal influenza, he turned him into a vampire. He is the resident doctor in Forks, Washington, and tends to Bella after the truck accident.
