Artemis Fowl

It’s taken close to two decades, but a movie adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s world-famous Artemis Fowl series is finally headed to theaters this summer! Artemis is brought to life by actor Ferdia Shaw. Cosplaying the infamously smug Irish child criminal (with a heart of gold beneath all that precocious bravado) is easy with these components. Some notable stylistic touches to Artemis’s outfit are an extremely skinny tie, reflective sunglasses, and an extra long suit jacket (which can be swapped for a regular-length jacket, if desired).

Gulliver from Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Gulliver is the hapless castaway that sometimes appears on the shores of your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He has a tendency to fall asleep on the deck of his ship and roll overboard. When you fin him you have to help collect the pieces of his communicator so he can call his crew for a pick-up.

Dressing as Gulliver is a little tricky given that he’s a bird. White pants and white gloves help give you the appearance of all-over white feathers. You can add white wings or use a white shawl to mimic Gulliver’s wings depending on your preference. Yellow duck feet give you the webbed look of Gulliver but you can also use yellow rain boots for a more human look. Similarly, you can use a false bill or leave it off.

To really capture Gulliver’s look though you need a sailor’s cap and shirt. A few pieces of circuitry make for a great accessory to finish off the costume.

Bucky Barnes from Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Bucky Barnes from Falcon and the Winter Soldier

This year’s Super Bowl had a lot of impressive moments. But for Marvel fans the most impressive moment was the teaser trailer for Disney+’s new line-up of shows starring familiar MCU actors. One of those actors, Sebastian Stan, is once again taking up the role of fan favorite James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes (Winter Soldier). Though photos from the show are few and far between, we do still have some ideas on what the costumes look like. And one of the clearest photos is of this everyday outfit for the former assassin and POW.

Black military-inspired boots and a black leather jacket give Bucky the same edge he’s had throughout the MCU while comfortable jeans and a grey t-shirt make let him blend in. A set of simple black leather gloves helps him hide his distinctive black and gold vibranium arm. Fans can take things a step further by getting a set of his dog tags from Etsy, though none currently listed match the props that Sebastian Stan shared on his Instagram while filming.

Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean

Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean

Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) barely remembers his father, the infamous Bootstrap Bill, but when it comes to the pirate’s life, the young blacksmith’s memory is jogged well by a lifechanging encounter with Captain Jack Sparrow. (You have heard of him, haven’t you?) Though his beating heart resides in a locked box following the events of At World’s End, it truly belongs to Turner’s lover-turned-wife, Elizabeth Swan.

M. Ivan from The Grand Budapest Hotel

M. Ivan from The Grand Budapest Hotel

M. Ivan (played by Bill Murray) is a member of The Society of the Crossed Keys. This means that he belongs to an elite group of hotel concierges and attendants. It also means that when M. Gustave is in trouble, M. Ivan feels obliged to believe his side of things and help him out.

Like all members of The Society of the Crossed Keys, M. Ivan takes his job to heart. It is his passion and his raison d’etre. And this shows in the pride he takes when dressing himself. While this makes for an interesting costume it also, unfortunately, makes the costume a bit difficult to put together.

You can get white dress pants, a white dress shirt, black dress shoes, and a champagne colored bow tie easily. M. Ivan’s overcoat, however, will likely need to be custom ordered from a costumer like the one linked here. His waistcoat is another unique piece because of its deep cut, so one like that pictured above is a close alternative.

M. Ivan’s Society of the Crossed Keys pins are another key costume feature that will require a little DIY work using miniature keys. And, finally, his thick mustache in a truly vintage style is the last piece to this very unique costume that is as detail-oriented as the character himself.

Harvey from Animal Crossings New Horizons

Harvey from Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizon, Harvey is the kind old hippie that lives on a nearby island. He runs a photo studio that is open for anyone to use and loves to have people come visit him to do their own shoots.

To cosplay as Harvey you’ll want to practice a laid back and slightly hazy way of doing things. That’s the real key to being Harvey. For his costume, though, you’ll want a a long wig and a mustache. The hair simulates Harvey’s ears, though can choose to add some costume dog ears as well if you want. A brown vest with fringe, a tunic top, bell bottoms, and moccasins finish out his look. And while these accessories aren’t necessary, a camera will really round out the look.
