Allison from A Good Person
Allison is the main character in the film A Good Person by Zach Braff, and is played by Florence Pugh. A Good Person is a charming but emotional film that tackles topics like addiction and grief.
Allison has a unique and bright style in the film. The costumes in this are not those of a typical movie about a struggling or depressed person. Her wardrobe is bright with fun patterns because they are what she owned previous to beginning her journey through addition and recovery, which is a much more realistic take. Although, the way she styles them is what shows her decline and state of mind. Some looks and pieces you can replicate in your own wardrobe is one like this bright gold and floral satin robe paired with navy and white printed leggings, a cozy oversized sweater with a diamond/ argyle type print paired with green leggings, and earlier in the film she wears this fun dusty rose-pink corduroy cap.
Alice from Don’t Worry Darling
Alice is from the thriller/drama film Don’t Worry Darling, and is played by Florence Pugh. The story follows Alice, a housewife who lives with her partner Jack in the seemingly perfect community called Victory in the 1950s. Throughout the film she begins to discover dark secrets about her life at Victory and the people who live there.
Alice wears a variety of bright dresses and has a looked inspired by icons such as Brigitte Bardot, which you can see in her hairstyles. She often wears a black velvet bow that stands out against her light hair color and her dresses are typically a midi-length, perfect for the 50s and are mostly sleeveless.
Goldilocks from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Goldilocks (voiced by Florence Pugh) is all grown up in the Dreamworks animated feature Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The leader of a criminal gang which includes the Three Bears from her well-known fairy tale, Goldilocks allies herself with Big Jack Horner in a bid to secure the Last Wish so she can be reunited with her biological family. Goldilocks wears her hair into two enormous curly buns with two locks trailing down her back. Her costume includes a puff sleeve blouse under a blue corset top, a multicolored skirt, and brown boots. To recreate her look, you can layer multiple skirts together, and even use a pair of scissors to give them a more shredded look. Use a blonde wig with pigtail clip-ins styled as two buns and secured with teal hair ties (in the film, her hair is held in place with beaded ties, but any texture will do). Finally, wind a leather strap around your right wrist, and accessorize with pearls, a multicolored necklace, and mismatched earrings. Her staff, which has a v-shaped top, also has pearl strands wound around it.
Yelena Belova from Black Widow
Florence Pugh is new to the MCU but she hit with a bang as Yelena Belova. Equal parts sassy spy and the younger sister left adrift after her family dissolved, Yelena is another heartbreaking reminder of the effects the Red Room can have.
She wears several looks throughout “Black Widow” but the most iconic – and meaningful – is the white suit and green vest she wears during the film’s climax. Black fingerless gloves, black boots, and a costume pistol round out the look while a blonde wig can be styled into her rounded braid using YouTube tutorials. Of all the pieces to this costume, however, the vest is the most meaningful. It appears again later in the MCU, as a final link to the sister she lost.
Dani Ardor from Midsommar
In Midsommar, Dani (played by Florence Pugh) is sent reeling from a devastating loss. As she attempts to deal with her depression following the death of her family, she embarks on a trip to attend a midsummer celebration in Sweden with her boyfriend and his friends. As the commune becomes increasingly less welcoming and more terrifying, Dani finds herself pulled into a brutal ritual with no way to escape. Dani’s clothing changes significantly throughout the film, beginning with comfortable hiking clothes before she dons the embroidered dresses typical of women in the commune. Once she is chosen as May Queen, she is completely adorned with flowers from head to toe. The variety of costuming provides ample room for interpretation.
Amy March from Little Women
Amy March (played by Florence Pugh) is the youngest of the March sisters in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. Amy is often immature, but also a talented artist who eventually travels to France with her Aunt March to pursue an education in painting before unexpectedly marrying Jo’s longtime friend and once admirer Laurie.
