George Harrison from Help!
Help! Is a wacky comedy film from 1965 that follows The Beatles as they are on the run and trying to protect Ringo Starr from a cult that is after them. In between scenes in the film, of course they have musical moments where they stop to preform their songs.
George Harrison has many different costumes int his film, but two in particular are standouts. One is his matching look with the rest of the members that consists of a black duster coat, a red and white scarf, and George in particular wears a black top hat. Another is his all-denim costume with a denim blue button down shirt, and blue denim jeans.
George Harrison from the Rooftop Concert
Like most things Beatles, their 1969 rooftop concert in central London was iconic, and so were their outfits that day. Before the police eventually shut down their performance, the Fab Four played numbers from their Get Back sessions, which would ultimately comprise their final album Let It Be. George Harrison’s look is best remembered for his shaggy fur coat, bright green pants, and of course his Rosewood Tele.
Dave Grohl
Dave Grohl is an American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. From 1990 to 1994, he was the drummer of Nirvana, the grunge rock band featuring Kurt Cobain and Kris Novoselic. Afterwards, he founded Foo Fighters, for which he sings, writes songs, and plays guitar. Some notable Foo Fighters songs include “Everlong” and “My Hero.”
Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan…. Where to begin? The first time I heard Bob Dylan sing, I wondered why he sounded like John Lennon. Turns out, John Lennon wanted to sing like Bob Dylan! The songwriter-poet-renaissance man is an icon of sixties culture and music, known for his blue-collar work shirt and blue jeans, and songs like “Mr. Tambourine Man.”
Chazz Darby from Airheads
Chazz Darby (played by Brendan Fraser) is the lead singer and guitarist for the band the Lone Rangers in the ’90s film Airheads. Alongside his fellow bandmates Pip and Rex, Chazz takes control of a local radio station in order to give his band’s music some airtime. Chazz has long hair and wears a headband to keep it off his face, a leather jacket, as well as multiple rings and necklaces to complete his quintessentially rockstar look. Finding Chazz’s exact t-shirt is going to be nearly impossible, so you could use this opportunity to bust out a truly vintage ’90s tee from your collection with a vintage vibe, or shoot for something in a distressed wash in a similar shade of light purple.
Ed Sheeran
In 2013, Ed Sheeran topped GQ‘s list of Worst-Dressed Males, but that’s just one magazine’s opinion. Ed Sheeran is an unabashedly comfortable dresser, that’s all! After breaking his elbow and wrist in a bicycling accident and bouncing back well enough to still be able to play guitar, he really deserves to dress as comfortably as possible on stage. And for those of us who disagree with GQ, here’s a handy guide for recreating Ed Sheeran’s aesthetic.
Buckethead
Buckethead is one of the greatest guitar players in the world – as a solo artist, as a member of Guns n’ Roses, and as a collaborator with the likes of Iggy Pop and Les Claypool. He’s also one of the weirdest guitarists, best known for wearing a fried chicken bucket on his head.
Slash
Slash has earned his title as one of the best guitar players in history — making it on several “Best of” lists in recent years for his riffs and solos. If there was a “Most Consistent Style” list he would easily rank in the top five. His look hasn’t changed much since his Guns n’ Roses days but hey, if you find something that works, why change it?
