Plague Doctor
Dr. D. Light from It’s Not Me, It’s My Basement
Dr. D. Light is a character from the horror game It’s Not Me, It’s My Basement. Dr. D. Light tries to help Embry, who has told their friends and neighbors that their parents are very ill. What he comes to discover, however, is a much darker secret involving a monster in Embry’s basement. Dr. D. Light’s appearance is based heavily on those of a medieval plague doctor. The simplest way to recreate his look is to purchase a plague doctor costume set, which will come with a hat, hood, gloves, and a long jacket with a cowl. Replace the plague mask with a round white mask. With a little paint, some markers, and a dose of creativity, you can alter the mask to look more like the one from the game. Lastly, use a sun-shaped charm and jewelry cord to make the Doctor’s necklace.
Plague Knight from Shovel Knight
Shovel Knight is a 2-D side-scrolling game. In this game, Plague Knight is a member of the Order of No Quarter. As a member of the Order and a master alchemist, Plague Knight serves the Enchantress. The Plague Knight’s costume is very similar to the familiar plague doctor popular at Halloween and as part of the steampunk aesthetic. However, to create his green mak, you will need to set aside a little DIY time to either create one yourself using green fabric and an online tutorial or to paint a white mask to match the color of your gloves and belt.
Warden Wrath from The Owl House
Warden Wrath (voiced by Robert Craig Smith) is the head warden of the Conformitorium. As the name implies it is where “unruly” citizens go so that they may learn to conform to the way Warden Wrath thinks things ought to be. He is not someone you want to cross, after all. He can shapeshift and breathe fire, as well as do tremendous damage with his superior strength.
To get his fearsome look you need foundational garments of black scrub pants tucked into heeled boots and a tight-fitting undershirt with a black hood. Over that goes a white “mad scientist” coat belted around the waist with a black leather belt. Then you put in your plague mask and pull the hood up and you’re good to go!
You can take things a step further by getting long grey gloves to cover your hands and arms, the only exposed skin Warden Wrath has. Grey body paint can also help you get the same effect!
SCP-049 from SCP – Containment Breach
SCP-049 is one of the terrifying creatures catalogued by the SCP Foundation. The SCP Foundation started as a form of online collaborative storytelling and has since morphed into a video game franchise among other things. SCP-049 appears in the game SCP – Containment Breach. It is humanoid and appears dressed as a surgeon from the European medieval era. Unfortunately this is not a doctor that heals. Any human it touches becomes a reanimated corpse that is bound to do the will of SCP-049.
Although SCP-049 is itself largely unknowable – since getting too close can turn you into an undead puppet – dressing up as SCP-049 is relatively easy. All you need is a black hooded cloak or robe, a grey plague doctor mask, black boots, and black gloves. It helps if you make the sleeves of the robe a bit tattered and if you wear black clothing underneath so it seems as if there is nothing under the robe but darkness and void.
