Mark Cohen from Rent

Mark Cohen is a character in the musical RENT, written by Jonathan Larson to depict bohemian life in Lower Manhattan's East Village during the HIV/AIDS crisis. Mark serves as the musical's narrator, documenting the events with his antique video camera. He is a struggling Jewish documentary filmmaker as well as Roger's roommate. Maureen is his ex-girlfriend. Anthony Rapp portrayed Mark in both the Broadway run and 2005 movie-musical.
