Movies
Scout Master Randy Ward from Moonrise Kingdom
Scout Master Randy Ward is from the film Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson, and is played by Edward Norton. This character is a Khaki Scout troop leader in the film that Sam Shakusky is a part of.
Scout Master Ward wears a full khaki getup like the rest of the group with scout patches, a ranger hat, long socks, and a yellow bandana. If you’re someone who enjoys sewing, add yellow piping to the costume as a detail to bring this uniform all together.
OJ Haywood from Nope
OJ Haywood is from the movie Nope by Jordan Peele, and is played by Daniel Kaluuya. OJ is the brother of Emerald Haywood. They both run the company Haywood’s Hollywood Horses.
OJ has a very practical wardrobe and is not really concerned with style but how what he wears will serve him best. He wears lots of work wear like blue jeans and sturdy boots, paired with shirts from their own company and productions they have worked on. He stands out beside his sister Emerald and this shows his more reserved and serious personality compared to hers.
Dudley Do-Right
Dudley Do-Right (voiced by Bill Scott in the cartoon from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show and played by Brendan Fraser in the live-action comedy) is a lovable member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Dudley means well and works hard, but is perhaps not the sharpest tool in the Mounties’ shed. When creating your Dudley Do-Right costume, you’ll first want to make sure you start with the signature red jacket worn as part of his uniform. The original cartoon iteration of Dudley also has a red hat, black boots, and blue pants that puff out around his hips. The live-action version wears striped pants, brown gloves and boots, a tan hat, and a cross-body holster.
Travis Henderson from Paris, Texas
In Paris, Texas, Travis Henderson (Harry Dean Stanton) is found wandering the West Texas desert in a weather-beaten suit, worn out shoes, and red cap. Throughout the movie he wears clothes like this, mostly browns and tans in traditional western clothes, complemented with a bright red hat or shirt. It eventually is revealed that his troubles have something to do with his missing wife Jane.
Wes Anderson on the Set of Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Anderson is the director of the 2012 film Moonrise Kingdom. Moonrise Kingdom is about 12 year olds Sam and Suzy on the island of New Penzance. We follow them as they decide to run away together and the adults of the film try to find them. This quirky film has very distinct costumes, just like all of his films. They’re very unique, detailed, and almost doll-like. On this film set, Wes wore his iconic brown corduroy two-piece suit. He pairs this with a colorful plaid shirt, sweater, and green plaid scarf. He dresses like he fits right into the environments that he so meticulously creates.
Amber Freeman from Scream (2022)
Amber Freeman (Mikey Madison) is an antagonist in the fifth Scream film, Scream (2022). The film takes place 25 years after the original Ghostface murders committed by Billy Loomis and Stu Macher. Now there’s a new generation of teenagers for a new Ghostface to target. Amber is a friend of the protagonist, Samantha Carpenter, but spoiler – she’s revealed as the Ghostface killer, along with her accomplice, Richie. Since Billy Loomis is Samantha’s father, the two antagonists plan to also target the legacy characters. Though in the end, with the help of former characters Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers, Samantha takes Amber and Richie down.
Javi from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Javi is a character from the film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and is played by Pedro Pascal. The film follows Nicolas Cage (who plays himself), as he struggles financially and can’t book roles, until he gets the offer to appear at a wealthy fan’s birthday party-Javi and they both run into trouble. Javi is a character who first seems like a weirdly-obsessed and possibly selfishly-rich fan, who turns out to be a very genuine loyal person, and Pedro’s hilarious performance makes this even better.
This film takes place in the summer on an island, so Javi wears bright colors and summer pieces like his nice sunglasses, a white and grey striped shirt paired with a light blue blazer, a fun pair of green pants with a short sleeve brown striped shirt.
Emerald Haywood from Nope
Emerald Haywood is from the movie Nope by Jordan Peele, and is played by Keke Palmer. Emerald is the sister of OJ Haywood. They both run the company Haywood’s Hollywood Horses.
Emerald has a very fun and unique style in all of her costumes. She wears lots of cool vintage pieces like graphic tees, cowboy boots, and is not afraid of bright pops of colors. She stands out beside her brother OJ and this shows her outgoing personality in comparison to him.
Tony Rydinger from Incredibles 2
Tony Rydinger (voiced by Michael Bird) is a supporting character in Incredibles 2 and a love interest of Violet Parr. Tony is a student who also works at Happy Platter. Though Tony’s appearance in the second film is a bit different than in the first, his outfit remains mostly the same. To create your costume, you’ll need white tennis shoes, brown slacks, and a dark navy blue turtleneck. If you don’t have hair to match Tony’s, a wig can help you achieve a similar look.
Rosita from Sing
Rosita (voiced by Reese Witherspoon) is part of the ensemble cast of Sing, an animated film that takes place in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. A weary mother of many children, Rosita decides to try out for a singing competition organized by koala Buster Moon. She is chosen for the event, but Buster thinks her act needs a little more pizzazz, so he teams her up with enthusiastic performer Gunter. Though hesitant at first, Rosita learns to enjoy the spotlight and shines during her performance of Taylor Swift‘s Shake It Off. To recreate Rosita’s stage look, you’ll need to love all things black and glittery. Start with a long-sleeved bodysuit and black pumps, then layer a fluffy skirt over top. You’ll also need a balaclava and you can choose to add a pig nose and glittery cat ears to imitate her animal appearance in the film. Use a pair of scissors to cut the balaclava and skirt to more closely match her costume from the movie.
