Raccaccoonie from Everything Everywhere All at Once
Chad (played by Harry Shum, Jr.) is a chef in an alternate universe who works with Evelyn at a hibachi restaurant in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Chad is the best chef at the restaurant where Evelyn works in this particular universe, but she soon discovers why… there’s a raccoon under his chef’s hat that controls his every move. To recreate the ‘Raccaccoonie’ costume, you have a few options. You’ll want to dress as a chef using white and blue as much as possible. But for the raccoon component, you can decide how much effort you’d like to put in. You can wear a blue chef’s hat and attach a raccoon tail hanging out the back, or you could wear a cute raccoon plush hat. If you’re willing to get a little more creative, you could cut slits into the bottom of a raccoon stuffed animal and thread two or three hard headbands through it to affix the toy to your head.
Finney Blake from The Black Phone
Finney Blake (played by Mason Thames) is the protagonist of the horror film The Black Phone. Based on a short story of the same name, Finney is kidnapped by a serial killer known as The Grabber. While held in captivity, he begins to receive supernatural communications from prior victims on a disconnected black phone. Finney has long, shaggy hair, and is wearing a blue and grey baseball tea and jeans when he is kidnapped.
Zeus from Thor: Love and Thunder
Zeus (Russell Crowe) is a minor character in Thor: Love and Thunder. He is the Greek god of the skies, king of Olympus, and leader of the gods. When Thor confronts him about the god butcher, Zeus disregards the threat. The group ends up impaling him with his Thunderbolt, which Valkyrie steals before making their escape. Later on, they use the power of the Thunderbolt to help defeat Gorr. An iconic scene from the trailer involves Zeus magically removing Thor’s disguise that leaves him nude in front of everyone and makes the Grecian girls swoon. The post credit scene features Zeus recuperating from his injuries and calling upon a familial hero to take down the Norse god of thunder.
Nicolas Cage from Willy’s Wonderland
Nicolas Cage plays the silent protagonist of the trippy horror movie Willy’s Wonderland. When he finds himself with a flat tire, he’s offered an easy gig; clean the amusement park Willy’s Wonderland overnight and his car repairs will be paid for. However, the task proves to be far from simple when the blood-thirsty animatronic creatures begin coming to life. Cage’s costume has two main phases; as the Drifter at the beginning of the film, he wears sunglasses and a leather jacket with red stripes down one sleeve over a grey henley. He swaps the henley and the jacket for a Willy’s Wonderland brand t-shirt when he agrees to be the Janitor. Finding exact matches for the jacket and t-shirt can be tough, though replicas can be found. Otherwise, it’s okay to use pieces that are close, even if they aren’t perfect. Don’t forget to top off your look with a black digital watch and oval belt buckle.
Barbie (2023)
Barbie (played by Margot Robbie), one of the most iconic toys in existence, is now getting the live-action treatment in her own film. Cast out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough, Barbie finds herself transported to the real world alongside Ken. Barbie’s outfits are bright and outlandish, perfect for a doll. Getting exact matches for the costumes is going to be almost impossible, so focus on recreating the look as closely as you can while channeling the overall vibe. You can use some iron-on star patches to add details to her pink cowgirl outfit, and if you don’t feel like rollerblading in your costume all night, a pair of neon high-tops can be easily swapped in.
Mighty Thor (Jane Foster)
Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is a character in the Thor movies who becomes Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder. After breaking up with Thor, Jane tries to find a cure for her late-stage cancer. However, Thor told Mjolnir to look after Jane, so she is revitalized as the superhero Mighty Thor. When she reunites with the god of thunder, Thor is understandably shocked (and even quite jealous at the expense of Stormbreaker). Jane fights alongside Thor, Valkyrie, and Korg to stop the villain Gorr, who wishes to eradicate all the gods. With her intelligence combined with this newfound power, Jane Foster shows girls can be strong heroes too.
Tyler Nguyen-Baker from Turning Red
Tyler Nguyen-Baker (voiced by Tristan Allerick Chen) is a supporting character in the animated Disney film Turning Red. Tyler begins as a bit of a bully to Mei, Miriam, Abby, and Priya, but as a fellow fan of 4*Town, he eventually becomes a member of their friend group. Tyler’s costume is very basketball-inspired, including a jersey layered over a white t-shirt, sweatband, and high-top sneakers. His clothes revolve around a purple, pink, and grey color scheme, but finding clothing in all these colors at once may not be possible, so don’t be afraid to focus on one or two and build a look that is close in appearance, even if it’s not a perfect recreation.
Priya Mangal from Turning Red
Priya Mangal is a main character in the Pixar movie Turning Red. Priya is the most mellow of her group of friends, which includes Mei Lee, Abby Park, and Miriam Mendelsohn. Priya is a big fan of the macabre, first introduced reading a vampire romance novel. Priya has round glasses and a nose piercing and is depicted in a yellow striped shirt and brown pants.
Miriam Mendelsohn from Turning Red
Miriam Mendelsohn (voiced by Ava Morse) is one of Mei Lee’s best friends in the film Turning Red. Miriam is a caring and loyal friend with a laidback attitude. Along with Abby Park and Priya Mangal, Miriam helps Mei navigate her newly upturned life after she begins transforming into a red panda. Miriam is a bit of a tomboy and wears clothes that would make any skater feel comfortable. She dons shades of green in nearly every aspect of her clothing, from her beanie to her flannel and accessories.
Joy Wang from Everything Everywhere All at Once
Joy Wang (played by Stephanie Hsu) is the daughter of Evelyn and Waymond in the A24 film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Joy has a fairly strained relationship with her mother Evelyn; the two often butt heads over a variety of things, including Joy’s desire to introduce her girlfriend to her grandfather. As originally introduced, Joy favors baggy clothes and has a penchant for comfortable flannel shirts. Her costuming gets pretty wild, though, when she becomes Jobu Tupaki, an interdimensional villain Evelyn must stop from destroying every universe that exists. As Jobu, Joy wears a multitude of colorful and unique ensembles. It might not be possible to completely recreate any one of them in full, so don’t be afraid to go a little wild and interpret one of her looks to make your own.
