Women

Princess Serenity from Sailor Moon

Usagi is seen in the Princess Serenity in various points of the story, and in a fair amount of the manga art, she is seen with white hair, instead of her usual blonde, though her eyes remain the same blue.

For this outfit, she has a golden moon on her forehead instead of her usual Sailor Moon tiara, pearl stud earrings with a matching bracelet and hair pins, and a long, high waisted white dress, with intricate gold and pearl details, and swirled sleeves.

Sharon Rainsworth from Pandora Hearts

Sharon (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) is one of the secondary main characters in the anime/manga series Pandora Hearts.

She is first introduced at Oz’s coming of age ceremony, and ends up being a consistent character throughout the rest of the story. She is from the Rainsworth dukedom, and after the timeskip she is shown to have joined Pandora and is contracted to the chain Equus, which prevents her from outwardly aging.

Sharon has almost creamsicle orange colored hair, worn long and tied up in the back with a large red ribbon bow, and soft pinkish-red eyes. She has a variety of outfits throughout the series, though we often see her in this full-bodied purple dress, with large and intricate ruffles and bow details scattered across. The only shot I could find of her shoes was from the manga, but they’re a pinkish-purple heel, with little pink bows lining down the top.

Medusa Gorgon from Soul Eater

Medusa (voiced in Japanese by Hōko Kuwashima and in English by Luci Christian) is one of the main antagonists in the anime/manga Soul Eater.

She is Crona’s estranged mother, and is a very uncaring and manipulative person. Medusa is a witch, and specializes in snake-based magic. For a short while, she posed as the DWMA’s school doctor in order to gather information about reviving the Kishin.

Medusa has golden, snake-like eyes, and blonde hair in a similar cut to Crona’s, though hers is worn much lower on the side pieces, which follow down into a braid worn over her chest. Her non-disguise outfit is a black one piece jumpsuit, with no sleeves, and short pants, and a hoodie with snake motifs on it. She also has snake ‘tattoos’ on her arms, which can be used in her magic, while fighting. Over the snakes, she wears a silver bangle bracelet, and her nails are done in a black and yellow arrow pattern.

Eleanor from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Eleanor is a character from the Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and is played by Anjelica Huston. The Aquatic Life with Steve Zissou is about an oceanographer that witnessed a shark kill a member of his crew. We follow his journey along with his crew as they encounter pirates and travel the sea. Eleanor is the estranged aristocratic wife of the protagonist, Steve Zissou.

Eleanor both fits in and stands out from the Zissou crew, who wears different variations of blue uniforms and red hats. She has a strong identity and confidence that we can see through her costume, often wearing flowy or linen pieces which are fitting to be by the sea and the summertime. She also wears turquoise jewelry that are shell or beach inspired, as well as blue streaks in her hair.

valentine from skullgirls

Valentine from Skullgirls

Valentine (voiced by Asami Imai and Laura Post) is an antagonist from the fighting game Skullgirls.  A surviving member of the Last Hope, Valentine aids Brain Drain in kidnapping and transforming Painwheel.  Valentine has blue hair she wears in a ponytail.  Her dress looks a lot like a sexy nurse uniform, and you can update your costume to be more accurate with pink fabric paint on the dress and cap.  She also wears white flats, bandages wrapped around her calves, and white gloves. She carries a hacksaw.  You can tie pink ribbon into shape and glue it to your leg wraps to get closer to her look from the game.  Lastly, Valentine wears a patch over her heavily scarred right eye, so you’ll need an adhesive eye patch.

painwheel from skullgirls

Painwheel from Skullgirls

Painwheel (voiced by Izumi Kitta and Danielle McRae) is one of the eight original playable characters in the fighting game Skullgirls.  She was kidnapped and eventually transformed into her terrifying form by Valentine and Brain Drain.  Painwheel has brown hair that is mostly pulled back, though two pieces are left free to frame her face.  She also wears a creepy stitched mask with red eyes.  You can choose a full-face or half-face mask that is similar depending on your comfort level.  Painwheel’s clothing mostly consists of a high-neck sleeveless dress with thigh slits on both sides and cuffs around her wrists, ankles, and throat.  You can take a pair of scissors to your preferred dress to cut it to length.  A large part of Painwheel’s transformation is the weapon attached to her back, which resembles a large shuriken or a pinwheel, part of her namesake.  To recreate this aspect, you can purchase a replica oversized shuriken and attach it to your back or take a pair of costume wings and paint them metallic silver.  Lastly, paint your nails and draw dark veins using an eyeliner pencil.  You can also replicate the nails that stick out of her body using wooden golf tees and liquid latex to hold them in place.

Molly Davidson from Booksmart

Molly Davidson is from the movie Booksmart, and is played by Beanie Feldstein. Molly is one of the two protagonists of the film, the other being Amy Antsler, her best friend. This comedy takes place at the end of their senior year, where they attempt to experience things they haven’t in school like partying, but all in one night before graduation.

Molly wears fun layers in her outfits that really show us her personality. She is put together, very smart and accomplished but also outgoing and hilarious. She wears a smart turtleneck sweater but in bright yellow, a green plaid blazer and trendy skirt with tights. In her matching blue coverall jumpsuit with Molly, she personalized it with a handy leather fanny pack and patterned neck scarf.

Rachel Flax from Mermaids

Rachel Flax is a character from the 90s film Mermaids, and is played by Cher. Mermaids follows Rachel’s daughter Charlotte who is tired of her mother moving herself and her sister every time she feels like it, and when she thinks they will finally settle down in Massachusetts, she realizes she is more like Rachel than she thinks and they learn to grow and accept each other.

Rachel’s iconic and most known costume from the film is one that she wears to a costume party and is featured on the film’s poster. She dresses like a mermaid with a blue metallic skirt, and a pink corset with a seashell bra. She pairs this with a gold sequin cropped cardigan, mermaid headband with curled ribbons and sheer blue ruffled gloves.

Edith from Grey Gardens

Edith is best known from the 1975 documentary Grey Gardens. The documentary captures the odd everyday life of Edith and her daughter Little Edie, former wealthy socialites who live in their decaying Long Island estate together, where they never leave the house. We see their very eccentric and hilarious personalities as they reminisce on their younger years with the occasional singing and dancing.

Edith in most of this documentary is sitting in bed and covered in blankets, but she does have some key outfit moments. She is an older woman, so she sticks with comfortable clothing like sweaters, robes, slippers, sometimes just a towel, and a variety of fun sun hats-even inside the house!

Princess Chibiusa from Sailor Moon

For her Princes dress, Chibiusa (Chibimoon) wears her hair styled up in the same way as she does for the rest of her outfits, but has added on pearl hairpins worn in triple on either side of her bangs, and has a vibrant pink moon on her forehead, mirroring her mother’s.

Her princess dress is a very voluminous and ruffled light pink dress with a high waist trimmed by pearls, a scalloped bodice, and short, ruffled, sleeves. Like the other scouts, she also wears a teardrop necklace, with hers being a pink stone.
