80s cartoon
Beach Head from GI Joe
In GI Joe, Beach Head (voiced by William Callaway) is the codename of Wayne R. Sneeden, a Ranger on the Joe Team. He’s known for his unwavering patience and dedication, the first to wake up and run 10-miles before breakfast. His look has changed over the years, but you can always find him wearing a green balaclava hood that hides his true appearance.
Scarlett from GI Joe
Scarlett is a member of GI Joe and the first female character. Real name Shana M. O’Hara, she’s skilled in martial arts and acrobatics, and specializes in counterintelligence. Although she’s adept with all kinds of weapons, her tool of choice is the crossbow. Alongside Gung-Ho and Stalker, she’s one of the field commanders.
Sgt. Slaughter from GI Joe
In GI Joe, Sgt. Slaughter was a drill instructor with the United States Marine Corps who was literally born on Parris Island. He’s the toughest, no-nonsense member of all the Joes. He’s inspired by the pro wrestler Robert Rudolph Remus who performed under the same name and voiced him in the 1980s Sunbow cartoon. Slaughter’s standard uniform was a black tank top, camo pants, mirrored sunglasses, and a big bushy mustache.
Eleanor Miller from Alvin and the Chipmunks
Eleanor Miller (voiced by Janice Karmen) is a supporting character in the cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks. Eleanor is a member of the Chipettes alongside her sisters Brittany and Jeanette. Strong willed and confident, Eleanor often stands up to her sister Brittany when she feels she is out of line. Brittany has pale blonde hair she wears in high pigtails and wears a mint-colored outfit which includes a skirt, striped tie, and vest over a white button down shirt. She completes the look with tall white socks and black Mary Jane shoes.
Wild Bill from GI Joe
In GI Joe, Wild Bill (voiced by Frank Welker) is the pilot of the Dragonfly helicopter. After service in the Vietnam War as William S. Hardy, he received specialized training and joined the GI Joe team. He’s also an expert scout and tracker, skills he acquired hunting as a child in Texas. In his off time, he enjoys telling tall tales and singing country western songs.
Bazooka from GI Joe
In GI Joe, Bazooka (voiced by John Hostetter) is a sergeant on the Joe Team and its missile specialist. Real name David L. Katzenbogen, he was originally a tank operator before applying for a transfer. Despite his clumsy and forgetful nature, he is known to be a quick-witted strategic mind.
Shipwreck from GI Joe
In GI Joe, Shipwreck (voiced by Neil Ross) is a member of the Joe team. Real name Hector X. Delgado, he grew up near the San Diego Navy Yards and enlisted in the navy at age 16. Accompanied by his loyal parrot Polly, he now serves on the Joe Team where he goes by the simple motto “See the target, shoot the target”. His design is said to be inspired by Jack Nicholson’s character from The Last Detail.
Huckleberry Pie from Strawberry Shortcake
Huckleberry Pie is one of the only male characters from the Strawberry Shortcake franchise, appearing in numerous series. He is a fisherman and one of Strawberry Shortcake’s friends. He also has a puppy named Pupcake.
To dress like Huckleberry, wear a straw bucket hat and attach faux blueberries or huckleberries at the side (I’ve attached blueberries in this case as they’re brighter in color like the original design). Wear a purple sweater over blue overalls. Roll the legs of the overalls into cuffs, then take green and white striped fabric and cover it either by sewing or glueing, hiding the seams in the folded areas. You can also use this fabric to cut out a large square to tie as a bandana to wear around your neck, and if you’d like to take the costume even further, carry any stuffed dog and cover it ears and one paw in the striped fabric by glueing or sewing like patches.
Brittany Miller from Alvin and the Chipmunks
Brittany Miller (voiced by Janice Karman) is a supporting character in the cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks. She is the sister of Jeannette and Eleanor and the lead singer of their group The Chipettes. Brittany is sassy and can come across as a little entitled, but she shows care for her sisters and Alvin. To recreate Brittany’s 80s look, you’ll want to start with light purple leggins and a hot pink leotard. Layer a ruffled skirt and a capelet over the leotard (you may want to turn the capelet backward so the ruffles are more visible in front). Then, tie a pink scarf around your neck into an oversized bow and add light purple shoes and yellow leg warmers. If you don’t want to style your own hair, choose a wig with bangs and a half-up style.g
Stormer from Jem and the Holograms
In Jem and the Holograms, Stormer (real name Mary Philips) is a member of The Misfits, alongside Pizzazz and Roxy. Stormer is the youngest member of the band, and the group’s lyricist and keytar player. She goes along with her bandmates in upstaging Jem at every opportunity, but also has a softer side.
