In Steven Universe: The Movie, Spinel was created thousands of years ago to protect Pink Diamond. The two would play together every day until Pink was given her own colony, at which point she abandoned Spinel to stand alone for thousands of years. When she discovers what happened through Steven Universe's message, Spinel sets out to destroy all organic lifeforms on Earth to get her revenge.
