Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale
Asriel Dreemurr is the son of Toriel, who passed away before the events of Undertale. Although you won’t recognize him in the beginning, a sadistic, soulless version of Asriel — a mere shadow of his cute, docile younger self — is the first character you meet in the game.
Jonathan Bree
Guitarist and music producer Jonathan Bree is known for his frequent collaborations with fellow New Zealand artist Princess Chelsea (such as “The Cigarette Duet”). His solo work as a musician is just as entertaining and bizarre, as he hides his entire behind a white mask and wears very Beatle-esque clothing for his onstage ensemble.
Monica Geller from Friends
Monica Geller (Courteney Cox) is Rachel Greene‘s worldly, grounded roommate who takes the runaway bride in at the start of the Friends series. Monica’s presence on the show pushed boundaries on television, encouraging viewers to think about sensitive subjects such as obesity and what constitutes promiscuity in her day and age. Monica’s sense of style centers around comfortable blue jeans, and basic-colored camisoles, T-shirts, or blouses — to me, it is highly evocative of the nineties.
Tanith Low from Skulduggery Pleasant
Tanith Low is a Hidden Blade magic user skilled in combat, stealth, walking on walls (and sitting on ceilings), and swordsmanship. She’s an ally of Skulduggery Pleasant and the honorary big sister of Pleasant’s apprentice, Valkyrie Cain. It is, in fact, Tanith, who first inspired Valkyrie to pick her name after casually using the phrase “raising Cain” (making trouble).
Rachel Greene from Friends
Friends, among other things, shows the evolution of Rachel Karen Greene from a runaway bride with unrealistic expectations of the world to a thriving businesswoman with questionable decision-making skills — at least, in terms of her personal life. (Joey? Really?) Career-wise, the character of Rachel served as a breakout role for actress Jennifer Aniston.
Rachel’s fashion sense can be summed up in plaid, pleated miniskirts, comfy sweaters, and dresses with Mandarin collars. All the more iconic is the hairstyle she sported at various lengths throughout Friends’ ten-season run.
Cha-Cha from The Umbrella Academy
Cunning and sadistic, Agent Cha-Cha (Mary J. Blige) works for The Handler as a time-traveling assassin, who does her job to prevent cataclysmic ends to the world (or allow them, if it’s for the greater good of the timeline) and likes it. Her current target is the Umbrella Academy’s Number Five. Does it concern her ever so slightly that her partner, Hazel, has gotten distracted and just a little bit softhearted over the friendly proprietor of the local doughnut shop? It is entirely possible.
The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy
I heard a rumor that you want to cosplay The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy using items from Amazon. Oh, you do? Well, you’ve come to the right place! The Rumor, real name Allison Hargreeves is one of seven super-powered siblings from the dysfunctional Umbrella Academy family. Her ability? Making anyone do anything she says, so long as she prefaces her statement with “I heard a rumor….” But can someone as narcissistic and manipulative as The Rumor handle the great power and responsibility that comes with her job?
Stanley Yelnats from Holes
Stanley Yelnats the Fourth is the fourth in line to receive a curse of bad luck that has plagued his family for decades. As chronicled in Louis Sachar’s Holes and the film adaptation starring Shia LaBeouf (who is not actually a cannibal, for the record), young Stanley happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, gets framed for theft, and winds up at a juvenile detention center called Camp Green Lake. As Stanley soon learns, it is neither a camp, nor is there a lake. All there is is a great expanse of dry land, dotted with holes dug by Green Lake’s young, troubled inmates.
In the book, Stanley Yelnats starts off with a stockier build, and his weight decreases with the hard labor of his punishment. In the movie, Shia Labeouf’s scenes were filmed out of order to represent the character’s fluctuating weight. As such, his clothing becomes quite baggy with time. We recommend buying Stanley’s costume pieces in a size up.
Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy
On Netflix’s adaptation of The Umbrella Academy, Emily Raver-Lampman brings The Rumor to life in the form of Allison Hargreeves, an accomplished and stunningly beautiful actress whose onscreen success totally has nothing to do with her superhuman ability to manipulate anyone with her words. “I heard a rumor [that you’re going to do something I want],” is a phrase that has earned Allison many favors in the world, but also some traumatizing drawbacks. Don’t miss Allison’s 1960s yellow dress look from season 2 as well.
Cigarette Duet
“The Cigarette Duet” is a music video by New Zealand-based artist Princess Chelsea (Nikkel), which addresses the addictive nature cigarette smoking in the form of an argument between a couple. “It harms your pretty lungs,” co-vocalist Jonathan Bree pleads with a stubborn, pink-haired Chelsea, who insists that she’s only going to smoke once or twice a week, and she can quit anytime. “It’s just a cigarette!”
