Doug Walker, the “Nostalgia Critic,” is the creator, writer, and director of the web comedy series of the same name. He is known for his bitter and sarcastic rants and reviews of television shows from his childhood, as well as more recent shows. His signature look is iconic and simple to recreate.
Adriana in Midnight in Paris
Adriana (Marion Cotillard) is a socialite and Pablo Picasso’s love interest in Midnight in Paris. Set in 1920’s Paris, Adriana is clothed in the ornate dresses and Art Deco jewelry that was popular at the time.
Red Pollard
Red Pollard is the famous jockey who rode the legendary racehorse, Seabiscuit. The film Seabiscuit chronicles the life of the horse and the people he brought together. Red Pollard (Tobey Maguire) wears red jockey silks with an “H” printed in white, for the horse’s owner, Charles Howard. Silks are hard to find, but white tape can be used to create the logo on a red and white raglan tee.
Bombshell Huntress
DC Bombshells is an alternate reality where female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. In this reality, Huntress is a singer and guitarist in a 1950’s band called “Birds of Prey.”
Bombshell Raven
DC Bombshells is an alternate reality where female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. In this reality, Raven is used as a weapon by Nazi Germany. Her costume is inspired by 1940’s burlesque dancers. In that spirit, the marabou fans act as the smoke from each hand. The cape was hard to come by, so the shawl can be attached to the cord necklace by the brooch to create a similar effect.
Bombshell Harley Quinn
DC Bombshells is an alternate reality where female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. Modeled after the classic pinups of the 1940’s, Harley Quinn is a bomber pilot.
Jackie Robinson in 42
Based on the real-life player Jackie Robinson, “42” is a biographical film about the integration of Jackie Robinson into Major League Baseball. He was the first African-American player to break the color barrier when he was signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers, and wore the number 42 for his entire professional career. In his honor, Major League Baseball retired the number 42 throughout the league.
Zelda Fitzgerald
Zelda Fitzgerald (Alison Pill) is a character in “Midnight in Paris.” Based on the real-life wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda is a fun-loving party girl who’s always decked out in lavish clothing and opulent jewelry.
Bombshell Lois Lane
DC Bombshells is an alternate reality where female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. In this universe, Lois Lane is reinterpreted as a reporter in the 1940’s. Just add a newspaper!
Bombshell Black Canary
DC Bombshells is an alternate reality where the female superheroes guard the homefront during WWII. Black Canary is a nightclub singer modeled after the pinups of the 1940’s.
