Hades from Disney’s Hercules

Hades (voiced by James Woods) is the villain of Disney’s classic take on Hercules. While he doesn’t have that much in common with the actual Hades from mythology he is one of the most entertaining villains in Disney’s gallery.

Hades’ costume is pretty simple but does require some DIY. Most costume tunics don’t come in black or dark grey so you’ll have to dye a white one. The tunic linked above has a belt that you should remove before dying the tunic. Once it’s done, however, you can use the belt to keep the garment snug under the sash you fashion out of a sheet large enough to wrap around your waist and then go up over your shoulder. Although it might seem silly to use a sheet, togas in Ancient Greece were largely made of fabric squares that were belted, pinned, and folded into various designs. In this case you can use safety pins in spots nobody will see and a skull-shaped pin at the shoulder, just like hades.

A little hair gel will spike up a blue wig to look like flames while a purple-grey body paint should give your skin the same pallor Hades’ has. Finally, some sandals keep your feet safe while you put your plans in motion to rule the world!

Breezie the Hedgehog from Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie)

In the Sonic comics, Breezie is a savvy businesswoman. Whether she’s a good guy or a bad guy depends on who you ask and which comic you’re on. But whether she’s good or bad, there’s no denying she’s driven and will go to any lengths to reach her goals!

If you’re going to dress as Breezie then the first thing you need is a red power suit and a matching pair of red pumps. A white button down shirt and ascot round out her clothing while chunky gold bracelets are her only accessories. Finally, teal tights, white gloves, a teal wig, and face paint give you the tools you need to become Breezie the Hedgehog!

sage from disneys star darlings

Sage from Disney’s Star Darlings

Sage (voiced by Libe Barer) is a main protagonist in Disney’s Star Darlings, and a student at Starling Academy studying to be a Wish-Granter. Sage is also a member of the Starling Academy Band, where she plays guitar. Sage is a great costume for anyone who loves glitter and the color purple, as her entire appearance is based around the shade. As with all Starlings, her skin is somewhat sparkly, so don’t skimp on the body glitter for this look.

Little My from Moominvalley

Little My is brave and has a rather bold personality. She does what she wants, and knows what to do to get what she wants. Little My does have a soft side, but most times her strong will is front and center. Little My enjoys her mischievous adventures in MoominValley.

Flash Sentry from My Little Pony

Flash Sentry from My Little Pony

Flash Sentry (voiced by Vincent Tong) is a pegasus pony from the Crystal Empire. He is still largely a mystery – at least his pony version – but fans know enough to know that he’s a favorite of none other than Princess Twilight Sparkle.

His coat is a consistent orange. This means that orange shoes, orange pants, and an orange button down are you go-to look. You can wear the button-down open over a white t-shirt for a more casual look. Just be sure not to cover up the cutie mark!

Getting Flash Sentry’s cutie mark might take a little extra work as well. You can either make you own cutie mark or order the file listed above and call local alteration shops to ask if they have an embroidery machine. Many do and can make you a patch of Flash Sentry’s cutie mark.

A blue tail, blue wig, and orange set of wings round out the look for the dashing pegasus pony!

amethyst su future

Amethyst from Steven Universe: Future

Amethyst is a main character in Steven Universe: Future voiced by Michaela Dietz. The series takes place after the events of the movie. Before, Amethyst was underestimated because she was half the size of a Quartz soldier. This judgement used to negatively affect her self esteem. But now she’s found her confidence and purpose. Fun, playful, and always with an appetite, Amethyst helps Steven run the new school for gems. Cut a hole in the tank top for the gem, and iron one star on each leg of the shorts.

Abby Archer from Grossology

Abby Archer from Grossology

Abigail “Abby” Archer (voiced by Krystal Meadows) is half of the crime-fighting sibling duo that stars in the show Grossology. They take on the grossest of gross and the slimiest of slimy. And when it comes to Abby, at least, they do it without batting an eye or breaking a sweat.

When she’s not in uniform to bust a bad guy Abby prefers the color purple. She wears a purple sweater and skirt with black leggings and black shoes. Of course no cosplay of Abby would be complete without her long auburn ponytail and a little bit of slime!

brad metzler from xavier riddle and the secret museum

Brad Meltzer from Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum

Brad Meltzer (voiced by Wyatt White) is friends with Yadina and Xavier on the PBS Kids show Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum.  Brad is often nervous about participating in adventures because time travel makes him dizzy.  His interests include action heroes, comic books, and butterflies.  He is named after author Brad Metzler, who wrote the books upon which the series is based with illustrator Chris Eliopoulos.

ari jin from flowering heart

Ari Jin from Flowering Heart

Ari Jin (voiced by Nancy Kim) is one of the three main protagonists of Flowering Heart. Ari is friendly and energetic, and cares deeply for her friends. Her flower is the pink azalea and her gemstone is the ruby, while her transformation is the Romantic Lip. Ari’s cheerful disposition compliments her pink hair and outfit.

Rosa from Fortnite

Rosa is a skin that players can use in Fortnite. Her design is based on Dia De Los Muertos, or the day of the dead. It’s a wonderful South American holiday meant to honor those who have passed on. So don’t let her skeletal features scare you! Though the player’s prowess in combat probably should!

To dress as Rosa you’ll want to start with a black wig pulled up in a bun with a red rose clipped in. From there you’ll want a purple undershirt. Teal satin can be glued to the shirt to create the neck piece and puff sleeves. A black and purple corset with a green bow gets you very close to her exact look. A black layered skirt and some purple satin allow you to copy the bottom half of Rosa’s outfit, along with a teal ribbon for the bow at the side. Black lace tights and heeled black boots finish off her clothes while ace paint and black nail polish give you the final details of her look.
