In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) is a gritty bar owner living in Nepal. Her father was a professor of archaeology who mentored a young Indiana Jones and was obsessed with finding the Ark of the Covenant. When her bar in Nepal burns down, Marion reluctantly helps Indiana Jones in recovering the Ark, eventually falling for him. She later returns to the series in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where it’s revealed Indy fathered a child, Mutt Williams, with her.

Hannah Marie is a character in the Scary Godmother books and movies. The children’s books were written and illustrated by Jill Thompson. Hannah is the protagonist of the series. On Halloween, her older cousin, Jimmy, takes her trick-or-treating. Yet Jimmy plays a mean prank and locks her in a haunted house. As Hannah begins to cry, Scary Godmother comes to comfort her. She invites Hannah to Frightside, an alternate dimension fueled by Halloween magic. At first, she’s scared of the monsters, but she quickly befriends them. Hannah becomes particularly close to Scary Godmother, Bugaboo, and Orson. While also sweet-natured and friendly, Hannah grows into a brave, assertive, and admirable character. Ger is the main character in the Pixar short “Geri’s Game” from 1997. It was released in theaters along with A Bug’s Life and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1998. Geri is an old man who plays chess against himself in a park as both Black and White.

The fairy godmother, portrayed by the iconic Billy Porter, is a character in Cinderella (2021). In this iteration, a monarch butterfly transforms into the fairy godmother. Introducing himself as her fabulous godmother, he says Cinderella saved her, and now he plans to send her to the ball. With a rendition of “Shining Star,” he uses magic to make one of her gown designs come to life. Of course, he pairs it with the signature glass slippers.

Wasp is a character in the Marvel universe. Her real name is Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. She has a strained relationship with her father, but when Scott Lang enters the picture, she must help them both. Hope is resourceful about the quantum realm as well as skilled in fighting techniques. These traits allow her to embody Wasp, and she teams up with Scott as Ant-Man in the second film. In addition to shrinking and growing, her abilities include flight and energy blasters. Evangeline Lily portrays this role in both installments.

Flynn Rider is a main character in Disney’s Tangled. He is a scoundrel and a thief, and all the wanted posters can never get his nose right. He tries to steal Rapunzel‘s tiara, but she coerces him into taking her to see the floating lanterns. Surely enough, he falls in love with Rapunzel, and realizes his new dream is to be with her. Despite Mother Gothel interfering, Flynn helps the lost princess reunite with her family and reclaim her title. Unlike a typical prince, Flynn is rugged and witty. His real name is Eugene Fitzherbert, yet he goes by Flynn Rider, a fictional swashbuckler from his bedtime stories. He’s voiced by Zachary Levi, who you may know as Shazam.

Mary (played by Amy Adams) is the girlfriend of Gary in The Muppets.  An elementary school teacher and a capable mechanic, Mary helps Gary’s Muppet brother Walter save the Muppet Theatre.  Mary wears many colorful, vintage-inspired outfits throughout the film.  When in doubt, reach for bold, bright colors in silhouettes inspired by the 1950s.

Gary (played by Jason Segel) is the human brother of Walter and one of the main protagonist of The Muppets.  Along with his girlfriend Mary, Gary must help Walter and Kermit the Frog get the Muppets back together to save the Muppet Theatre from a greedy businessman.  Gary wears many outfits throughout the film, but some of his most memorable include the blue striped pajamas and baby blue suit he wears during different musical numbers.  If you can find a Walter plush toy to tag along with your costume, it could truly take it to the next level, though they’re difficult to come by.
