Carbon Costume

Namaari (voiced by Gemma Chan) is the primary antagonist of the Disney animated feature film Raya and the Last Dragon.  She is the princess of Fang, one of the five lands of Kumandra, just as Raya is a princess of Heart.  Namaari is fiercely protective of her people and will do whatever it takes to help them prosper.  She wears her hair short and shorn on one side where she wears a long gold tassel earring.  If you aren’t quite ready for an undercut, a deep side part and some gel to slick back the hair on the left side of your head can help you achieve a similar look.  She also wears gold arm bands and a gold belt over a red sash, harem pants, and a beige tank top.

Mr Saito (played by Ken Watanabe) is the head of Proclus Global in the film Inception.  A rich and powerful man, Saito is originally targeted by Cobb and Arthur.  However, once Saito realizes he is in a dream, he seeks to recruit them for a job of his own.  In the opening dream sequence, Saito wears a tuxedo that combines traditional Japanese garments with more Western silhouettes.  A similar look can be achieved by using the top portion of a nagajuban or a hanjuban undergarment.  Either way, it is best to choose one with pleats or grey details to best exemplify Saito’s costuming.

Ali Mills (played by Elisabeth Shue) is a main character in the 1984 movie The Karate Kid.  Ali befriends Daniel LaRusso as he trains for the All-Valley Karate Championships under Mr. Miyagi.  A popular and stylish girl, Ali wears a number of 80s-inspired outfits throughout the film.  If you can’t find the exact pieces to match her costuming, be sure to focus on the colors and silhouettes; she often wears bold colors but in more pastel shades than many might associate with the decade’s fashions.

Rex (played by Steve Buscemi) is the bassist for the Lone Rangers in the movie Airheads.  Rex along with his friends and bandmates Chazz and Pip holds a radio station hostage in a bid to have the band’s demo tape heard by producers.  Rex has many bad tattoos on his arms and wears black jeans with combat boots and a distressed “Road Kill Café” t-shirt.  If roadkill isn’t your thing, you could use any dark distressed t-shirt in your arsenal to evoke a similar effect.  If you choose to wear a fake goatee as part of your costume, make sure to get a good skin-safe adhesive like spirit gum as well as remover to ensure it looks great, but also doesn’t hurt coming off.

Chazz Darby (played by Brendan Fraser) is the lead singer and guitarist for the band the Lone Rangers in the ’90s film Airheads.  Alongside his fellow bandmates Pip and Rex, Chazz takes control of a local radio station in order to give his band’s music some airtime.  Chazz has long hair and wears a headband to keep it off his face, a leather jacket, as well as multiple rings and necklaces to complete his quintessentially rockstar look.  Finding Chazz’s exact t-shirt is going to be nearly impossible, so you could use this opportunity to bust out a truly vintage ’90s tee from your collection with a vintage vibe, or shoot for something in a distressed wash in a similar shade of light purple.

James is the main antagonist in Twilight. He is a vampire with incredible tracking abilities, which Laurent describes as lethal. When he discovers Bella is human, he commits to hunting her down. It’s up to Edward and the other Cullens to stop him so Bella will be safe. Cam Gigandet portrays James in the movie adaptation. Tie the blond wig into a ponytail using a hair elastic.

Francesca (voiced by Gale Garnett) is the main antagonist of the stop motion animated film Mad Monster Party.  Francesca is the secretary of Baron Boris von Frankenstein, who has decided to retire as the head of the World Organization of Monsters.  Francesca is a total babe and often flirted with by the monsters on the Isle of Evil.  She works closely with Dracula in a bid to kill the Baron’s nephew Felix Flanken.  Francesca wears several era-appropriate outfits including a dark beige dress, an emerald green number, and a gold satin party dress.  To really sell the 60s look, you’ll want to be particular about your makeup.  The same eyeliner you use to rim your lids can also be used to create the perfect beauty mark on your right cheek.

Laurent is a character in the Twilight saga. He is a vampire in the nomadic coven with James and Victoria. During the chase, Laurent betrays them by helping the Cullens. After the encounter, he joins the Denali coven, who are also vegetarians, and falls for Irina. In New Moon, he returns to seek the Cullens to help Victoria take revenge, but he finds they have left Forks. However, he finds Bella in the meadow and decides to devour her himself. Just in of time, Jacob and the wolf pack spring into action and kill him. Edi Gathegi portrays Laurent in the movie adaptations. This guide features both of his outfits.
