Murray from White Noise

Murray is a character from the film White Noise by Noah Baumbach, and is played by Don Cheadle. The film is based on the original 1985 novel by Don DeLillo. This story follows college professor Jack Gladney and his family as they’re faced with “The Airborne Toxic Event.” They’re forced to evacuate their home and ultimately face their fear of death throughout the film and we see how each of them cope with this in their own ways. Murray is professor at the same college that Jack works at. He is very passionate about his studies and enjoys discussing them with Jack. He seems to be very clear-headed in times of trouble and stands strong in what he believes in, and offers advice and new perspectives to Jack because of this.

Murray’s costumes consist of plenty of tweed pieces like blazers, vests, and dress pants. He wears this when working at the college and mixes colors and prints when it comes to shirts and ties for pops of color. When we see him in the grocery store outside of work, he has a very fun costume moment where he wears a loud, colorful 80s teal and blue windbreaker over his work clothes.

Eggzorcist from Living Dead Dolls

Eggzorcist is part of the first series run of Living Dead Dolls, and the first one to have an animal theme, that being an Easter Bunny.

She has short cut purpley-blue hair, a red x on her forehead, blue lips, and extremely vibrant light blue eyes with red and black makeup surrounding them. Her outfit consists of a full white rabbit onesie complete with a hood with bunny ears, a noose drawstring, and a white Easter basket.

Rebecca-Diane from Theater Camp

Rebecca-Diane is a character from the film Theater Camp and is played by Molly Gordon. The film follows Rebecca-Diane and Amos who have to join forces with other teachers in an upstate New York theater camp after the founder falls into a coma. These eccentric characters have to work together to keep the place running before opening night.

Rebecca-Diane has a style that follows trends but is also slightly mis-matched. She typically wears a sweater vest over a white shirt, a floral maxi skirt, and even adds a cream cardigan at one point. She always wears a light blue ribbon in her hair and a brown necklace that is similar to the one Amos wears.

Lucy from The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Lucy is a character from the new Hunger Games film releasing this November: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and is played by Rachel Zegler. The Hunger Games series of films are based off of the original books by Suzanne Collins. This film takes place 64 years before the original Hunger Games we know. In this new film we get to see Coriolanus Snow at 18 years old who is assigned to mentor Lucy of District 12 as the 10th annual Hunger Games approaches.

Lucy’s iconic costume is one that both features trends of today, historic inspired pieces, and a fantastical flare. She wears a canvas corset top that appears to be hand-painted with images of flowers and snakes that create the e age of a bow. There are also ribbons where the shoulder straps meet the bodice. This can be re-created by wearing a canvas floral fashion corset top and adding ribbon, or taking or creating a blank one and then hand painting with fabric paints. Under that she wears a “peasant” top which is historically inspired. It’s ruffled with a square neckline and poofy sleeves. Under this she wears a maxi tulle ruffled layered skirt that can be recreated by starting with a white skirt as the base and dyeing it in layers. The skirt linked here is synthetic, so using synthetic Rit dye will be very effective for this look.

Love Quinn from You

Love Quinn is a character from the Netflix series You, and is played by Victoria Pedretti. You follows Joe, who works in a bookstore and frequently has crushes throughout the seasons that he would go killer lengths for to be with them. Love is a character we meet in season two and she continues through season three, where she becomes the antagonist. She is an aspiring chef from a wealthy family and starts a family with Joe.

Love typically dresses very feminine, with lots of sweaters and often an apron as she’s always cooking or baking. This would make a great duo costume with Joe Goldberg from season three.

Vermeil from Vermeil in Gold

Vermeil from Vermeil in Gold

In Vermeil in Gold, Vermeil (voiced by Maaya Uchida & Monica Rial) is a powerful succubus-like demon. She has horns, fangs, pointed ears, and a spade-shaped tail, but she can conceal them at will behind her human form. Vermeil is almost always in a skimpy black dress, but has been known to dress in a school uniform that manages to be even skimpier.

Vicki from Small Wonder

Vicki from Small Wonder

In Small Wonder, Vicki (Tiffany Brissette) is an android, Voice Input Child Identicant (V.I.C.I.), designed to mimic a human girl. Though she looks the part, her robotic voice, superhuman strength, and computer access panel reveal her true nature. Still, she’s welcomed by her inventor as a member of the Lawson family.

Joe Goldberg from You

Joe Goldberg is a character from the Netflix series You, and is played by Penn Badgley. You follows Joe, who works in a bookstore and frequently has crushes throughout the seasons that he will go killer lengths for to be with them. Joe makes for a great and recognizable costume duo with one of his love interests and a fan favorite character named Love. Joe has a signature look he has throughout the season, specifically when he is stalking and trying not to be seen. When he does this, he wears his ionic denim baseball cap along with a denim jacket and other layers. Add a backpack to complete the look or a front-facing baby carrier for a season three duo costume with Love.

Princess Venus from Sailor Moon

Like the others, Venus wears her hair pretty much in the same way as she does in her other forms, with the Venus symbol being the one major difference, as it appears on her forehead in gold.

She has a long bowed golden ribbon worn around her neck and a matching golden teardrop necklace. Her dress is a golden split toned sleeveless dress with ribboned straps, a high waisted top, and lighter toned multilayered ruffled pieces over a golden inner layer.

Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Sayaka (voiced in Japanese by Eri Kitamura and in English by Sarah Williams) is one of the major characters in the anime/manga Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

She was one of the first ones out of the group (in the timeline we first see) to awaken her magical girl form through the wish she made to heal the boy she had feelings for, but once she found the feelings weren’t reciprocated, she started to spiral. She thankfully was able to connect with Kyoko after that.

Like Kyoko, Sayaka has a monochromatic color scheme when it comes to her hair and eyes, with both being about the same shade of blue. Her magical girl outfit is much the same, with a hard shelled blue bodice piece, a white corset-styled button up white midpiece, a layered up blue and white offcenter skirt, and detached sleeves with white gloves. She also wears a white and gold capelet, long white and blue socks, and teal short high heeled boots.
