(Keigo Takami) Hawks from My Hero Academia

Hawks (voiced in Japanese by Yuichi Nakamura and in English by Zeno Robinson) is one of the main pro heroes in the anime/manga My Hero Academia.

He is currently the No.2 Pro Hero, and has a variety of ties to different groups, both current and former. His Quirk incorporates his wings, allowing him to fly and control individual feathers for attacks.

Hawks has golden messily spiked hair, and golden-brown eyes that he wears yellow goggles over, in tandem with ear protectors. His outfit is built for flight, streamlined for the black and gold underlayer, with bulky and warm tan outer layers. He wears a thick pair of black gloves, black socks, and black boots, and has a large set of red wings coming from his back.

Brad Armstrong from LISA: THE PAINFUL

Brad Armstrong is the broody protagonist of the RPG game LISA: THE PAINFUL.  Brad is a tormented character trying to do his best to protect Buddy from the Rando Army.  He is also addicted to the drug Joy, which is a blue pill.  To recreate his look from the game, you’ll need a balding head, a black beard, and a scar over your right eye.  Brad wears a brown poncho, dark pants and shoes, and has brown cuffs on his wrists.  To mimic Joy, you can use blue candy.

Shino Aburame from Naruto

Shino Aburame (voiced by Shinji Kawada and Darek Stephen Prince) is a character from the anime and manga series Naruto.  He is a member of Team 8, under Kurenai Yuhi, alongside Hinata Hyuga and Kiba Inuzuka.  He can control bugs that live inside his body as part of his clan’s special technique.  Members of the Aburame clan are known for wearing dark glasses that obscure their eyes, and Shino is no exception.  In the original series, he also wears brown pants and a grey-green jacket with a high collar that covers his mouth.  When creating your costume, try to find a jacket with a high-stand collar.  In the later episodes of Shippuden, Shino wears a green hooded jacket with a black shirt beneath instead having the collar that covers the lower portion of his face. A cowl neck zip-up can serve this purpose well.  During the Fourth Shinobi War, he also wears a Konoha standard-issue flak vest.  No matter which version you choose, don’t forget your forehead protector, kunai pouch, sandals, and round sunglasses.

J. Robert Oppenheimer from Oppenheimer

J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy) is the titular protagonist at the heart of Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer. The primary physicist responsible for the creation of the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer’s life included no shortage of drama including an affair with Jean Tatlock during his marriage to Kitty, and many inquiries into his political affiliations and ideologies.  The Manhattan Project of which Oppenheimer was a part took place in the 1940s, so your costume should evoke a vintage silhouette as much as possible.  Oppenheimer wears several different suits throughout the movie, often favoring grey and brown shades.  He also owns a rather unique belt buckle that is silver with turquoise.  To recreate his look from the film, choose a brown or tan suit, with a matching tie, shoes, and flat-brimmed hat.  Add a belt with a fancy buckle, a pipe, and a wedding ring.  Lastly, you can recreate his round identification badge by writing “K-6” on a plain white button.

Nicolas Cage from The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent

Nicolas Cage plays himself in the film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. We follow his character in the film that is a struggling actor with financial issues, until he receives an offer to appear at wealthy fan’s birthday party named Javi, where they both run into trouble. Nicolas learns to have empathy for Javi despite his initial negative impression of him, and they become partners in crime.

This film takes place in the summer on an island so Nicolas sticks to this theme with a white striped shirt, sunglasses, and a white summer hat. He pairs this with a stylish brown suede bomber jacket.

Chizome Akaguro/Stain from My Hero Academia

Stain (voiced in Japanese by Go Inoue and in English by Robert McCollum) is one of the initial antagonists in the series My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia.

He is a villain known as the Hero Killer, and one of the main antagonists early on in the series, focusing on Iida’s part of the story.

Stain has extremely spiky and messy hair, and tiny red eyes that are framed by a tattered cream mask. He wears a thick red headband, a tattered red scarf, a black and grey tank top/vest combo, black pants, and a large variety of holsters, with spiked boots with knee guards, black bracers, a tan belt with a holster, and cream arm wraps. Also several blades.

Miss Hattie from Despicable Me

Miss Hattie (voiced by Kristen Wiig) is a minor antagonist in the Illumination film Despicable Me.  She is the cruel operator of Miss Hattie’s Home for Girls where Margo, Edith, and Agnes live before they are adopted by Gru.  Miss Hattie has brown hair and wears a pink cardigan with a red plaid skirt.  The ruffled collar of her blouse sticks out over the collar of her sweater, and she wears a red gem brooch at her throat.  Complete your costume with a coiffed wig, sheer stockings, and red shoes.

Baki Hanma from Baki the Grappler

Baki Hanma (voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki and Troy Baker in the 2018 anime) is the protagonist of Baki the Grappler.  Baki trains as a fighter so he can surpass and defeat his father Yuujiro Hanma as vengeance for the death of his mother Emi Akezawa.  Baki has shaggy brown hair and a beauty mark over his lip that resembles Emi’s.  For your costume, you’ll need a pair of red shorts to emulate Baki’s preferred fighting uniform.  While finding an exact match might be difficult, plenty of options exist that are very similar, so choose your favorite.  You’ll also need white hand wraps and athletic tape, and you can use a pair of open-toed grip socks to protect your feet.  Baki is covered in scars from his hard years of training, and you can use scar wax to recreate these.  Depending on how many you decide to wear, you may need extra wax.  Choose a concealer in your skin tone (the one linked comes in many) to conceal the edges.  Finally, use a black eyebrow pencil to add your beauty mark and you’re ready for a fight!

Darrel Curtis

Darrel “Darry” Curtis Jr. is a character in The Outsiders. He is the oldest Curtis brother and leader of the household. Since the passing of their parents, he has taken on the role of a parental figure. Darrel is mostly serious, but at times his concern for his younger siblings can manifest into anger, which causes him to act rashly. Ponyboy describes his older brother as “someone who grew up too fast and handling things no one his age should have to.” Patrick Swayze plays Darrel in the 1983 movie adaptation.

Lars from Go Jetters

Lars is a member of the Go Jetters, a group of four heroes who travel the world in the British animated children’s series. Lars is the resident expert mechanic who can fix just about anything. Even though he’s British, he loves the Eiffel Tower in France. His catchphrase is “Geographic!”
