Tony Hogburn from Nine Perfect Strangers
Tony “Smiley” Hogburn (played by Bobby Canavale) is a former NFL tight end and one of the guests at Tranquillum in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. Tony is a bristly persona with an addiction to painkillers. While his relationship with Frances Welty is rocky from the start, the two slowly start to confide in one another at Masha Dmitrichenko‘s retreat. Tony definitely prioritizes comfort over fashion, opting for gym-ready clothes paired with a utilitarian bucket hat to keep the sun off his face.
Samwise Gamgee
Samwise “Sam” Gamgee is a main character in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is a Hobbit who joins the Fellowship of the Ring and its quest to destroy it and defeat Sauron. He is a gardener in the Shire. When Gandalf catches Sam eavesdropping on his conversation with Frodo, he demands he partake in the journey. He becomes Frodo’s closest companion, and carries him up Mount Doom to cast the Ring into the fire. Sam is not affected by the Ring’s persuasion because he is morally good. In the movie adaptations of Tolkien’s novels, Sean Astin plays this role.
The Legion (Frank and Julie) from Dead by Daylight
In the game Dead by Daylight, the Legion is a killer that consists of four teenagers, Frank, Julie, Susie, and Joey. Frank Morrison was a promising high school athlete, but he was kicked out of school after he attacked a referee at a game. After bouncing around several foster homes, Frank ended up in the small town of Ormond where he met Julie Kostenko who saw him as her ticket out of her hometown. Frank and Julie also hung out with Susie and Joey, and the foursome began vandalizing and robbing as a hobby before they committed a murder during a break in, which sealed to their fate as killers for the Entity. Frank and Julie’s costumes are very similar, so it could be fun to use these two as a basis for a couple’s costume or as part of a larger group of four.
Evan Morrow from The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
When Evan Morrow (played by Brady Noon) is let go from the Might Ducks hockey team, he and his mom Alex set out to start a new squad in the Disney channel series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. When they start practicing at the local Ice Palace, former Ducks coach Gordon Bombay slowly takes an interest in the team and helps coach them to the finals. Evan’s hockey uniform for the Don’t Bothers consists of standard hockey equipment and a yellow jersey. While it’s not practical to wear a pair of skates or padded pants all night, some wind breaker pants and fun printed socks can help evoke the spirit of the costume.

Frank Wolff from Jungle Cruise

Frank teams up with Dr. Lily Houghton and her brother McGregor Houghton to search for the mysterious Tree of Life in the jungles of South America. Frank wears a tan Captain’s hat and khakis, with a striped shirt and vest. If you don’t want to shell out for a pair of knee high boots, a set of costume boot covers like the ones shown here can help transform a pair of brown shoes you already own into an adventurous pair of boots like the ones Frank wears.
Gordon Bombay from The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers
Gordon Bombay (played once more by Emilio Estavez) is the former coach of the Mighty Ducks who returns in the Disney series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. By the time Gordon meets Alex Morrow and her son Evan, he’s long since left the world of coaching behind. But when Alex and Evan form a new hockey team after the Mighty Ducks cut Evan from the squad, Gordon finds himself slowly pulled back in by his love of hockey. Gordon’s outfits are conducive to working at the Ice Palace, including work gloves and warm flannel shirts. Just don’t forget your notebook for writing down imaginative hockey plays!
Space Jam: A New Legacy
In 1996 Space Jam awed kids all over. Even kids who didn’t watch basketball begged to see it because of Michael Jordan and all the Looney Tunes. A new generation of kids gets to experience the same enchantment with Space Jam: A New Legacy. This time they’re treated to LeBron James as he tries to rescue his son from a wayward AI. And, with the help of the Looney Tunes, he knows he can.
Unlike most of the players in Space Jam, you can choose your team. If you’re feeling a little more mischievous than usual you can join the Goon Squad with purple shorts and a custom jersey. A full Toon Squad set lands you with Bugs and the gang. And a face painting kit can help you get the look of your favorite character. You might want to get Bugs’ look or maybe you want to go with Chronos’ style and get in sync with time.
Gawain from The Green Knight
Gawain and the Green Knight is a classic Arthurian tale. And like Arthur himself, the knights have been gaining new audiences as their tales are once again retold. Written for the screen by David Lowery and starring the incredible Dev Patel, the movie is billed as a fantasy retelling of an already fantastical tale. And one can only hope Gawain fares is well in the adaptation as in the original, green sash and all.
Gawain has a yellow cloak that can be reproduced with golden fabric, or a white capelet and Rit dye. Because this movie is stylized and not aimed at perfect historical accuracy, a set of fold-top leather boots (which are great in other cosplays) are also perfect for the costume, as well as a pair of black pants, a chain mail shirt, and a black tunic. A sword and scabbard can be slid into a a medieval belt and you’re ready for your own Arthurian adventure.
Piragua Guy from In The Heights

He’s portrayed by none other than Lin Manuel-Miranda, who both wrote the musical and originated the role of Usnavi on Broadway. His competition is the Mister Softee truck, where Christopher Jackson, who originated the role of Benny, as well as George Washington in Hamilton, portrays the ice cream man.
