space ghost from space ghost coast to coast

Space Ghost from Space Ghost Coast to Coast

Space Ghost premiered in 1966 as a superhero fighting villains in outer space.  The late night talk show spin-off Space Ghost Coast to Coast launched in the mid-90s and focused on Space Ghost’s interviews with other “superheroes.”  While Space Ghost may have been a good crime fighter, his hosting abilities left a little to be desired, leading to awkward and often hilarious interviews.  To make your Space Ghost costume, you might want to flex some of your creativity by painting his logo onto your white suit.  And don’t forget your index cards, so you can ask insightful questions of your interview subjects.

Truman Burbank from The Truman Show

Truman Burbank played by Jim Carrey is a young insurance salesman living in the town of Seahaven where he was born and raised. Truman has been living a very average life. Such a normal life that he doesn’t realize the entire country has been watching him live it since he was born and that Seahaven is actually a movie set. All of his friends and loved ones are also paid actors. With his hopes to leave Seahaven and travel to Fiji the truth begins to unfold for Truman. This costume is casual and sort of a business type outfit. The look should be easy to put together and comfortable to wear all day.

Hetalia Canada

Canada from Hetalia

Matthew Williams, also known as Canada, is a side character in Hetalia: Axis Powers. While he sometimes gets mistaken for his brother, America, he acts nothing like him. Whereas America is bold and outspoken, Canada is shy and passive. Other countries tend to forget he exists, which makes him nostalgic for when England and France used to pamper him. Even pet polar bear, Kumajirou, asks “who are you?” to which he sheepishly responds, “I’m Canada.”

Protagonist from The Tatami Galaxy

Protagonist is not given any other name. He is trying to make the best out of college life in Kyoto. Two years already passed, and he is wondering what happened to the “rose colored” campus life he imagined. Mystically, Protagonist gets thrown back in time to the beginning of his college years in a chance to do things over. Protagonist tries to make his college life what he always wanted in The Tatami Galaxy (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei).

However, during his final mission in Botswana, he was murdered by a fellow mercenary hired by John Wynn. Al was sent to Hell in the afterlife due to his many years spent as an assassin. In Hell, he made a deal with The Devil to become a Hellspawn in exchange to see his wife again, thus becoming Spawn.

This costume may take a bit of crafting in order to have a complete look. Other materials you may need are a flat paintbrush, a piece of cardboard, painter’s tape, scissors, an awl, a sewing kit, or a hot glue gun. Firstly look up a few resource images for the white lines on spawns suit. Place cardboard on the inside of the suit to keep the fabric paint from bleeding as well as allowing the suit to stretch for more accurate line work when complete. While the paint drys, you can poke a hole big enough on the side of the skull mask in order to fit the elastic band through. You will need to measure the elastic band to fit around your hips with and extra inch or two so you seal the elastic around the mask. Once the hole is prepared and you measured your elastic, slip about 1-2 inches through the back and once it is through you can choose to either sew or hot glue it together. Wrap the elastic around and repeat the process. You will need to create a small hole on your cape to apply the biker vest extenders. Note that you will need to buy two of the decoration chains. Once all is done you have a great DIY costume for any cosplay or Halloween event!

Viago What We Do In The Shadows Character

Viago from What We Do in the Shadows

Viago is a main character in What We Do In The Shadows, a horror mockumentary about the lives of four vampires. His full name is Viago Von Dorna Schmarten Scheden Heimburg (né von Blitzenberg) and he is 379 years old. As suggested by his clothes, he lived in the 18th century. He traveled to New Zealand to find his true love, Katherine. He’s the most endearing vampire in the group, but he can be uptight, especially when it comes to keeping the house clean. Not only did Taika Waititi write and direct the film, but he stars as Viago himself.

Clifford DeVoe from The Flash

Clifford DeVoe / The Thinker from The Flash

Clifford DeVoe (played by Neil Sandilands) was a professor and researcher who augmented himself with a device that increased his intelligence. While his intelligence increased, however, his body began to deteriorate. This ultimately put him in a wheelchair which he altered to be a sort of base for his power.

Altering a wheelchair – particularly a power chair as DeVoe uses when he is The Thinker – is a large undertaking. So too is making the specialty headgear that makes up his costume. An easier way to cosplay him is to dress as he did before becoming The Thinker and then use a few costume cybernetic pieces to show DeVoe’s transition into being The Thinker.

The piece pictured above is technically a piece for a Borg costume which means it can be reused in other costumes as well. Otherwise all you need are dress shoes, slacks, a button up, and a tie as well as a wheelchair if you choose to cosplay that point if DeVoe’s development.

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran

In 2013, Ed Sheeran topped GQ‘s list of Worst-Dressed Males, but that’s just one magazine’s opinion. Ed Sheeran is an unabashedly comfortable dresser, that’s all! After breaking his elbow and wrist in a bicycling accident and bouncing back well enough to still be able to play guitar, he really deserves to dress as comfortably as possible on stage. And for those of us who disagree with GQ, here’s a handy guide for recreating Ed Sheeran’s aesthetic.
