Angelica Pickles from Rugrats
Angelica Pickles (voiced by Cheryl Chase) is the bossy older cousin of Tommy and Dil Pickles on the Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Angelica is a spoiled child who rarely doesn’t get what she wants, which leads to her butting heads with her cousins and their friends often. Even Susie Carmichael, who is normally an ally of Angelica, sometimes has to point out when she takes it too far. Angelica has blonde hair she styles in pigtails and she wears a purple dress layered over an orange shirt and blue tights.
Phil and Lil DeVille from Rugrats
Phil and Lil DeVille (both voiced bath Kath Soucie) are the troublemaking twins of Betty and Howard DeVille on the Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Phil and Lil are alike in almost every way, including how they dress. Their pink shirts and rubber-duck adorned shirts make for a fun and colorful costume for a couple or a pair of friends.
Hannah Grose from The Haunting of Bly Manor
Hannah Grose (played by T’Nia Miller) is a pious woman and the housekeeper of Bly Manor in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor. Hannah has a deep connection to the house and is very protective of Miles and Flora Wingrave, though she can also be stern with them when necessary. Hannah can often be seen lighting candles in the chapel on the grounds. Hannah’s style is conservative, but often punctuated by color. Look for deep reds and flattering a-line midi skirts to emulate her look.
Annie from Little Einsteins
Annie is a character in Little Einsteins on Disney Junior. She is four years old and is the younger sister of Leo. While she’s the youngest of the group, she is the most adventurous and brave. Cheerful and affectionate, Annie is a great singer and carries around a portable microphone. She comes up with song lyrics off the top of her head.
Verosika Mayday from Helluva Boss
Verosika from Helluva Boss is not what you would call a nice woman. Even for a succubus she has an attitude and she’s not above making everyone else deal with the consequences. Whether in human or demon form, she’s not someone you want to cross.
Cosplaying her can be a lot of fun, though. Both her human and her demon form wear black leg warmers with back stilettos while her demon form has a white-ish wig and her human form is blonde. In demon form she wear s white dress decorated with black shape that you’ll have to paint on. She also has pink horns and a pink tail. Her human form opts for a pink long sleeve drop top and matching skirt with white details that you will also have to paint on.
Betty DeVille from Rugrats
Betty DeVille (voiced by Kath Soucie) is the vocally feminist mother of Phil and Lil on Nickelodeon’s classic cartoon Rugrats. Betty is a bit of a tomboy, typically seen wearing comfortable sneakers, sweatpants, and her signature purple sweater with the “female symbol” on it. To recreate her iconic look, you can use a light purple sweater and a little orange fabric paint, as finding an exact replica can be fairly tricky.
Debbie Grayson from Invincible
Debbie Grayson is a character in the animated and comic book series, Invincible. She is the loving wife of Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man, and the mother to Mark Grayson. She is of Asian descent, making Mark one of the few modern biracial superheroes on screen. She is human, yet she knows her husband is an alien, and she shows him how to live on Earth. She tries to be a caring mother towards Mark, even though she’s saddened by how his powers shift their relationship. Nevertheless, Debbie is regarded as the heart of the story, due t0 her bravery investigating the murder of the Guardians and confronting her husband about it. Sandra Oh, known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, voices this character on the show now streaming on Amazon Prime.
Leo from Little Einsteins
Leo is the protagonist in Little Einsteins on Disney Junior. At six years old, he the oldest member of the group as well as its leader. Leo is also the older brother of Annie. He pilots the giant red rocket ship. His main talent is conducting and he never leaves home without his conductor’s baton. Use the orange duct tape to make a stripe across the t-shirt.
Elsa van Helsing from Frankenweenie
In Tim Burton’s universe, Winona Ryder has a way of bringing to life girls that are special mix of sweet and sharp. Elsa van Helsing is no exception. She cares deeply for the people in her life but she’s not exactly a fan of the fluff and frippery that others seem to like.
Elsa’s appearance is a great example of this. She wears her black hair up in long pigtails and opts for a high-neck shirt, a dark pinafore dress, grey tights, and black shoes. You can also use grey face paint if you want to go for the “stepped out of a black and white movie” look. You can also use dusky makeup colors to create a similar look without going for full-face coverage. And of course you’ll want a stuffed poodle to play the part of your very own Persephone
Hester from The School for Good and Evil
Hester is the daughter of a distinguished witch. Perhaps one of the most distinguished witches, specifically the one who lived in a gingerbread house. After losing her mother and arriving at the School for Evil, however, Hester begins to build her own legacy and set herself up as a distinguished student in her own right.
In the first book of the series Hester is describes as ” a tall girl with greasy black hair streaked red, black lipstick, a ring in her nose, and a terrifying tattoo of a buck-horned, red-skulled demon around her neck”. She is also said to have black eyes and dress in the black robes the students wear in the School for Evil.
The nose ring is easily replicated with a fake that pinches your nose and black lipstick is a must for the costume. Her black eyes, however, should only be replicated using contacts from a certified opthometrist as the low-cost versions off the internet carry serious risks to your eyes. To replicate her hair you’ll want to get a wig and some clip-in red extensions. Pomade can replicate a greasy look or you can leave that part out.
The robes aren’t described in great detail so a fairly plain witch’s costume is suggested. They range from witches robes to the kind of dark dress and collar that someone with Hester’s style might prefer.
Finally you’ll need body paint to recreate her tattoo. Then you’re ready to go off and take your own classes at the School for Evil.
