Mayaka from Hyouka
Mayaka Ibara is a member of the Classic Literature Club, and attends Kamiyama High School. She also volunteers as an assistant in the library, and is part of the Manga Club. Mayaka can be nit-picky and stubborn, but is nice overall. Mayaka joins the adventures of the Classic Literature Club in Hyouka.
Goldilocks from Purple Mattress
In the Purple Mattress commercials, Goldilocks (Mallory Everton) is a bed expert who mischievously uses raw eggs to test the quality of mattresses. A hard mattress will crack the eggs, a soft mattress will also crack the eggs, but a mattress that’s just right will cradle the eggs, even with 1,000 pounds of weights on top of them.
Anne Shirley Cuthbert from Anne with an E
Anne Shirley is the protagonist of the Canadian TV series, Anne with an E. The show is an adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, the literary classic by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Played by Amybeth McNulty, Anne Shirley Cuthbert is a thirteen year old girl growing up in the late 1800s. Despite a difficult childhood, Anne is remarkably resilient. She has a determined spirit, fierce intellect, and a wonderful imagination. She enjoys reading, storytelling, and journalism.
Miss Trunchbull from Matilda
If you were a ’90s kid, Miss Trunchbull from Matilda was the stuff of nightmares. Played by Pam Ferris, she was the epitome of a horrible principal. Whether it was locking kids in the Chokey or tossing them out a window to land (safely, thankfully) in a rare patch of flowers near her school, she terrorized students and staff alike.
I wouldn’t recommend emulating her attitude but you can certainly get her severe style with a few key pieces. The most important pieces are a long green overcoat and a wig with a slicked-back bun. The overcoat pictured above is longer than Miss Trunchbull’s but this will allow you hem it (or tape it up) to the right length for you. If you want to cosplay her her school uniform you can wear a skirt and shirt under the overcoat, though they won’t e seen. Of course you’ll need the wig with its slicked back bun as well. Add in some tall Army green socks and leather shoes as well as a leather belt to complete the look.
For the clothes she wears at home you’ll need a grey pullover sweater, green sweat pants, white athletic socks, and sneakers. Using letter Transfer sheets add the words “1972 Olympics” to the front of the sweater. Tuck a white towel in around the back of your neck with the bulk of it showing above the collar. Take the leather belt from her school outfit (or a weight lifting leather belt if you have one) and tighten it around your waste. Then add in green sweats, bunched athletic socks, and simple sneakers.
And, of course, Miss Trunchbull isn’t Miss Trunchbull without her coveted box of chocolates. You can make your own by taking the chocolates (still in their paper cups) out of a standard box of chocolates and putting them into an enamel hinge-top box. It’s a bit bulky for an accessory but every Matilda fan will know immediately why Miss Trunchbull would keep the box close!
Lisa Rowe from Girl, Interrupted
In Girl, Interrupted (based on Susanna Kaysen’s memoir), Lisa Rowe (Angelina Jolie) is a sociopathic patient at the psychiatric hospital where Susanna (Winona Ryder) has checked in. Lisa proves to be charismatic, manipulative, and ultimately, dangerous, although she is well-liked by the other patients and bonds with Susanna.
Lydia Martin
Lydia Martin (Holland Roden) is a main character in MTV’s Teen Wolf. She starts out as a preppy popular girl, who quickly recruits Allison Argent as her new best friend. Later on, she plays a crucial role to resurrecting Derek Hale‘s uncle, Peter. This all gets explained in the third season, as Lydia is revealed to be a banshee. It is also revealed that she is much smarter than she lets on. For instance, she nonchalantly mentions her knowledge of archaic Latin. The rest of the show follows her adjustment to her supernatural powers as well as her romantic relationship with Stiles Stilinski.
Takita from Drifting Dragons
Takita is a young rookie aboard the Draking ship, Quin Zaza, and despite her inexperience, she is not the only quirky one with a mysterious past in the crew. Her time on the ship teaches her life skills and helps her to pay off her debts. The interesting thing about the Quin Zaza crew’s uniforms is that they’re styled not unlike real-world chef uniforms, which seems appropriate for a cooking anime/manga.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a judge for the US Supreme Court from 1993 to 2020. She received attention for her advocacy of women’s rights. Justice Ginsburg held radically progressive views and, despite her diminutive stature, wrote fiercely passionate dissents, earning her the moniker “The Notorious RBG”.
Hayley Williams of Paramore at The Final Riot Concert
Hayley Williams is a multi-talented singer, once hailed as the “great orange hope” by John Mayer the her iconic dyed orange hair she had in the Paramore band’s early days, and an accomplished musician in her own right. With her Paramore bandmade Taylor York, Williams has recently released a groundbreaking solo album which candidly gives insight to her personal struggles. Although Hayley Williams’ personal aesthetic has evolved considerably since her debut in the music world, we can’t help but go back to the classic redheaded punk look she sported during Paramore concerts in the mid 2000’s.

Talia Al Ghul
Talia Al Ghul is a character from the DC Comics, often affiliated with the Batman and the Gotham universe. She has an on again-off again romantic fling with Batman, and together they have Damian Wayne, aka Robin. However, she is the daughter of the supervillian Ra’s Al Ghul, which makes her more of an anti-hero. Incredibly intelligent and charismatic, Talia is a formidable opponent. She even joins the League of Assassins. Her abilities include master martial arts skills and swordsmanship. After being killed and resurrected in the Lazarus Pit, she now ages slower than normal.
