Mrs. Jewls from Wayside
Mrs. Jewls (voiced by Kathy Najimy and Kathy Laskey) is the teacher of Todd, Dana, Maurecia, and Myron in the cartoon movie and TV series Wayside. A little ditzy and sometimes strict, especially with Todd, Mrs. Jewls does care for her students and uses sometimes unconventional teaching methods to help them learn. Mrs. Jewls has frizzy bright pink hair. She wears a yellow kerchief around her neck and layers a bright green dress over a lighter long-sleeved shirt and wide purple pants. She completes her outfit with purple shoes.
Lisa from Lisa Frankenstein
Lisa Frankenstein (Kathryn Newton) is a new 80s style horror/comedy film by Zelda Williams. Set in 1989, the film follows a teenager named Lisa in high school who has a new crush that turns out to be an reanimated corpse.
Lisa’s style is one that has lots of layers and is oh-so-80s. To dress like Lisa, wear a black sheer dotted shirt with a corset style tank top layered on top, and layered over that is a bolero sleeve top. Pair with a black tulle skirt with a wide black waist belt. Under that wear black tights, black fishnet tights or layer both with black combat boots. She also wears a headband that features a large black bow, black sunglasses, small silver hoop earrings, and finally a red lipstick and nail polish.
Janis from Mean Girls (2024)
Janis is a character from the new 2024 musical movie Mean Girls, and is played by Auli’i Cravalho. This new film is based on the Mean Girls musical, a live broadway show that follows the story of the 2004 film Mean Girls, that we all know starring Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. Janis is friends with Cady and Damian. She’s known for her alternative and edgy style.
Janis’ costume, like the others in this new take on the story follow current trends. The way to recreate her look is wearing a green graphic tee, a sheer black shirt layered underneath, a black and white checkered belt, jean/ belt loop chain accessories, and blue eyeshadow. A black loose knitted top is also another layering piece that really brings together her punk style.
Wadanohara (Blue Dress)
Wadanohara is the titular character of the 2013 pixel horror game, Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea.
I have previously covered the outfit that she wears at the start of the game here, so for this one, this is focusing on the dress that she wears for the majority of the rest of the game, aside from major story changes that alter that.
Her hair and eyes are the same as the previous look (light brown hime cut with braids and soft grey) but for this one she wears a large blue witch hat, with a tricolored bow attached around it with a large anchor piece over top. The outfit she wears is a blue sailor top with white detailing, an invert of her previous one, and a largely poofy blue skirt underneath, backed with a long-tailed matching ribbon to the hat. Her shoes for this outfit are the same blue as the rest of it, with white banded stripes across the top of the boots.
Julie from The Worst Person in the World
Julie is the main character in the film The Worst Person in the World, and is played by Renate Reinsve. The film follows Julie for four years as she navigates life and love. She has a very simple, realistic but flattering wardrobe that can be easily recreated.
One look is a white jumpsuit that is short sleeved, and wraps in the front. Another is a simple and timeless black satin dress that has a straight neck that drapes at the front and spaghetti straps. And finally, the one we see on the cover in the impressive running scene is a navy blue button down shirt, khaki shorts, and white sneakers with red and blue detail.
Lily Potter from Harry Potter
Lily Potter is a character from the Harry Potter book and movie series, where she is played by Geraldine Somerville. She is the mother of Harry Potter and marries to James Potter before they were murdered by Lord Voldemort. Lily was also a student at Hogwarts and was a Muggle-Born Witch.Lily Potter appears rarely in the film series but we do get to see her very young and then as a mother.
To dress like Lily as we see her appear in the films, wear a black peacoat that ties at the waist, a black cap, gray fingerless gloves, a gray scarf, and black lace-up boots.
Lotta from Harvey Girls Forever!
Lotta (voiced by Lauren Lapkus) is a character from the animated series Harvey Girls Forever! She is friends with Audrey and Dot. Lotta was once the smallest girl on the block before a growth spurt made her taller than her friends. She is a very caring friend, loves animals, and is easily scared. Lotta has short blonde hair she styles with red ties. Her outfit consists of peach leggings, a pink t-shirt, and blue, short-sleeved hoodie with pins on it. She also wears a peachy-pink tutu. Her boots are grey, mint, and yellow. Use reflective tape to embellish a pair of boots, and wear mint green socks folded over top to recreate them.
Allison from A Good Person
Allison is the main character in the film A Good Person by Zach Braff, and is played by Florence Pugh. A Good Person is a charming but emotional film that tackles topics like addiction and grief.
Allison has a unique and bright style in the film. The costumes in this are not those of a typical movie about a struggling or depressed person. Her wardrobe is bright with fun patterns because they are what she owned previous to beginning her journey through addition and recovery, which is a much more realistic take. Although, the way she styles them is what shows her decline and state of mind. Some looks and pieces you can replicate in your own wardrobe is one like this bright gold and floral satin robe paired with navy and white printed leggings, a cozy oversized sweater with a diamond/ argyle type print paired with green leggings, and earlier in the film she wears this fun dusty rose-pink corduroy cap.
Serial Designation V from Murder Drones
Serial Designation V (voiced by Nola Klop) is a Disassembly Drone in the web series Murder Drones. V is a member of Serial Designation J‘s squad alongside Serial Designation N before the latter joins forces with Uzi instead. V is a drone with a primarily black and white body. To recreate her look, layer a white bell sleeve blouse under a black bodysuit and then wear a black crop top and a pair of white shorts over top. You can add caution tape details to the hem of your sleeves and your shorts. Then, add a pair of white gloves, a white mask and LED sunglasses, and a silver bob wig. A pair fo black and white striped shoes will complete your look.
Johanna from Hilda
