Mon Mothma from Andor
Mon Mothma, played by Genevive O’Reilly, is the Chandrilian senator in the Star Wars series Andor. This underrated character appeared in different films before, but in this new series, we get to see more of her story.
Mothma is a part of high society and is a poised leader. We see this in her costumes with powerful silhouettes and monochromatic, classy color palettes. Most of the time she is dressed like her environment and her home, which is sleek and minimalistic. She wears white on white, with creams and sometimes with a rose tint. She has unique, asymmetrical, and sharp tailoring. These pieces are usually in cashmere and wool, paired with flowy ones like pants and skirts. Layering so many pieces creates a unique and interesting look that is well put together, just as a senator and leader would be.
Candy from Love and Death
Candy Montgomery is from the crime drama TV series Love and Death, and is played by Elizabeth Olsen, based on a true story. Candy is the main character who is an active member in her church and a mother that gets herself into deep trouble when getting involved with another member of the church, Allan Gore.
This story takes place in 1980 Texas. Fitting Candy’s personality, she wears modest clothing that is slightly dated but still wears some pieces that are more trendy or risky in her community. She wears lots of muted tones that are reminiscent of the 70s and some pops of bright colors like red. You’ll usually see her in lots of denim, with stylish flare jeans and casual striped tops.
Camille Toh from Sausage Party
Camille Toh (voiced by Lauren Miller-Rogen) is a minor character in the adult animated film Sausage Party. She purchases groceries early in the film, leading to Frank and Brenda’s freedom from their previously shelved lives. Camille has red hair she styles with a purple headband. Her clothing consists of a white short-sleeved blouse, a purple vest, and mint green pants. She finishes her look with a belt, hoop earrings, and purple high heels.
Ruby Gillman from Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken
Ruby Gillman (voiced by Lana Condor) is the titular protagonist in Dreamworks’ animated feature Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken. Ruby is a shy and awkward student at Oceanside High alongside Connor and Chelsea Van Der Zee. Though drawn to the ocean, Ruby is told by her mother she must stay away. Ruby has blue skin and hair-like tentacles. In her humanoid form, Ruby wears a green turtleneck sweater, purple shorts, striped leggings, and purple boots. You can wear blue gloves and use blue body paint, as well as add fin-like prosthetic ears, to recreate sea creature appearance.
Wendy Mauri from Les Sisters
Wendy Mauri (voiced by Anaïs Delva) is one of the titular sisters from the French cartoon Les Sisters. In her early teens, Wendy is more mature than her sister Marine and often looks out for her. Wendy has long dark hair and wears a red shirt with a star graphic paired with a pair of light pink pants. She finishes her look with a white belt cinched at her waist and a pair of red and white sneakers. If you can’t find an exact match for her shirt, you can layer a similar red tee over a long-sleeved shirt instead, or add an iron-on decal if you’re up for a little DIY.
Sprite from The Eternals
Sprite (Lia McHugh) is a character in the Marvel film, The Eternals. She’s an Eternal, an immortal, superpowered being created to eradicate Deviants to help populate the Celestial race. Sprite and nine other Eternals get sent to Earth but are forbidden to interact in human conflicts. She has the ability to project realistic illusions. She is close friends with Sersi, but she also has an unrequited crush on Ikaris, which causes jealousy. At the end, Sprite requests that Sersi uses the remaining energy from the Uni-Mind to turn her into a human. This allows her to start aging, thus ending her unwanted childlike appearance.
Rose Dawson from Titanic
Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Kate Winslet) is the aristocratic woman who falls in love with Jack Dawson and eventually takes his name in James Cameron’s film Titanic. Rose comes from a wealthy family who falls on hard times after her father’s death, and is pressured to marry a wealthy man by her mother so they can maintain their lavish lifestyle. Rose wears many incredible costumes throughout the film. When she first boards the ill-fated titular ship, she dons a stylish pinstriped outfit with rich purple accents. A replica dress is your best way to pull off this signature look. You can add your own details to the base to achieve the full ensemble. This includes a dark purple hat with a striped taffeta ribbon, which you can replicate yourself by adding a bow to a wool hat. You’ll also need a white collared shirt, dark necktie, and gold pin. Rose’s accessories include white leather gloves, purple drop earrings, and a purple parasol she uses as a cane. A golf umbrella can do the trick for the latter, or you can forgo the accessory entirely.
Shinoa Hiragi from Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End
Shinoa (voiced in Japanese by Saori Hayami and in English by Felecia Angelle) is one of the main characters in the anime/manga series Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End.
She is the leader of her own squad in the Moon Demon Army, and is from the Hiragi family that runs all the army operations. Her weapon is a large, detailed black scythe with a bright green blade, like the other Demon Army weapons.
Shinoa has fluffy lavender hair that reaches just past her shoulders, that she mostly wears back in an intricate braid circle, tied with a purple ribbon. Her eyes are a reddish pink.
She wears an alternate version of the usual Demon Army uniform, in the same green and black colors, but hers is a uniform top with a deep pink ribboned tie at the top, and a small skirt. She wears the same boots as the others, but with thigh high black tights, due to not wearing the pants typical of the uniform. She wears the same white gloves as the others.
Aubrey from Omori
Aubrey is a member of the friend group at the heart of the indie game OMORI. Aubrey is cheerful but anxious, and has a falling out with Basil, Kel, Sunny, and Hero. She eventually joins the delinquent gang known as the Hooligans, though she eventually reconciles with her friends. In the real world, Aubrey has long pink hair she ties back with a teal scarf. She wears a blue denim mini skirt, black crop top, and colorful shoes paired with a white and yellow jacket. She also carries a bat with nails driven through it. In Sunny’s dream world, Aubrey has long blue-purple hair with a bow hair clip and wears a light-colored nightgown. She also carries a stuffed eggplant called Mr. Plantegg.
President Barbie from Barbie (2023)
President Barbie is played by Issa Rae in the new movie Barbie by Greta Gerwig. President Barbie exists in the Barbie world in the film, and is leader over the pink utopia with her all-female team.
President Barbie’s look isn’t a traditional presidential one. Issa was involved in the ideation of the costume and wanted her to look like what a little girl’s idea of what a president would look like. She wears a gorgeous poofy pink princess dress with gold details. She always wears a pink sash that says president over every outfit.
