Princess Melody from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
Princess Melody is a character in the Disney animated movie, The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea, a sequel to the 1989 The Little Mermaid. Melody is the daughter of Princess Ariel and Prince Eric, who opposite of her mother, longs to live under the sea. A tomboy with an adventurous spirit, Melody attempts to reconnect with her Atlantican half. You can recreate her old-fashioned pajamas with a cropped tank top and sweatpants. Attach the teal bow to the center of the top’s neckline.
City Girl’s Celestial Angel
City Girl’s fourth album, Celestial Angel, includes beautiful cover art reminiscent of 90s anime. The city scene takes on an ethereal appearance with the cover character, likely the titular Celestial Angel, hovering off a set of stairs, an otherworldly glow enveloping her as she ascends. The Angel’s appearance includes a blue skirt and puffy-sleeved blouse as well as blue chin-length hair.
Cat Valentine from Victorious
Cat Valentine is a character on the Nickelodeon series, Victorious. She also appears in the spin-off, Sam and Cat. She is portrayed by pop singer Ariana Grande. Cat attends Hollywood Arts to pursue a career in singing and acting. She is the ditzy one of the friend group. While sweet and naive, she can sometimes get irrationally upset. She owns many stuffed animals and she is obsessed with bibble, a colorful popcorn snack. In a stark contrast to Jade, her fashion is very cute and feminine with lots of pink and ruffle textures.
Carly Shay from iCarly
Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) is the main character in the Nickelodeon series, iCarly. She begins as a teen living with her older brother, Spencer, in Seattle. She creates the web show iCarly with her friends Sam and Freddie. In the reboot, Carly is now twenty-seven having graduated college. She now shares an apartment in Seattle with her new friend, Harper, and she revives her web show with the help of Freddie and her brother. While easygoing and caring, Carly has an impulsive streak when she can’t do what she wants. As with the character, her sense of style has been modernized and matured.
Mimi Marquez from Rent
Mimi Marquez is a character in the musical RENT, written by Jonathan Larson to depict bohemian life in Lower Manhattan’s East Village during the HIV/AIDS crisis. She is a nineteen year old exotic dancer at a club called the Cat Scratch. She struggles with a drug addiction, and she is HIV positive like Angel. Mimi falls in love with Roger, and her growth throughout their romance is an important part of the story.
Inez from Cyberchase
Inez is one of the three main characters of Cyberchase on PBS Kids. She is a Latina girl who lives on Earth. Inez is part of the Cybersquad alongside Matt, Jackie, and Digit. At nine years old, she’s the youngest member of the bunch. She loves to read, in which she often quotes from books. Inez possesses a wide vocabulary, and can speak both English and Spanish. Iron on the star patch in the middle of the pink shirt, and you’re set!
Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls
Rory Gilmore (played by Alexis Bledel) is the intelligent teenage daughter of Lorelei and one-half of the titular Gilmore Girls on the well-known CW show. Rory is studious and headstrong, much like her mother. Throughout the course of the show, Rory wears a wide variety of outfits. You can’t go wrong recreating her Chilton Prep School uniform or any of her other iconic outfits. In the pilot of the series, Rory wore a cozy sweater perfectly suited to her Connecticut hometown. As she grew and attended college, her style matured along with her.
Deirdre Beaubeirdra from Everything Everywhere All at Once
Deirdre Beaubeirdra (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) is an IRS worker and sometimes antagonist in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Deirdre is a bit of a stick in the mud and puts pressure on Evelyn and Waymond Wang when she audits their laundromat. Deirdre becomes an enemy of Evelyn when another version from a different universe who is loyal to Jobu Tupaki jumps into her consciousness. Deirdre has a blunt haircut and wears a gold turtleneck and grey trousers with a yellow vest over top. To get the colors to match more closely, you can cut the arms off a yellow crochet cardigan.
Malaria from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Malaria (voiced by Jeannie Elias) is a gothic woman who fell in love with Grim on an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy before realizing he was the actual Grim Reaper and running away. Malaria and Grim meet when he goes to the beach with Billy and Mandy. Malaria wears black opera gloves and a long black strapless dress. She uses an umbrella at the beach and wears purple eye shadow and red lipstick.
Eda Clawthorne (Red Dress) from The Owl House
Eda Clawthorne (voiced by Wendie Malick) is a rebellious witch in the animated series The Owl House. As a young girl, Eda was cursed by her older sister Lilith. Eda’s current appearance is a little different from her original look on the show. Now, she wears a three-tone dress that can be tough to find an exact replica of, but by taking a little time to layer different pieces together and cut the hems to match, you can achieve a similar look with minimal effort. Using glue or fabric tape, you can add a jewel to the front of the outfit to match Eda’s.
