80s cartoon
Pizzazz from Jem and the Holograms
In Jem and the Holograms, Pizzazz (real name Phyllis Margaret Gabor, which she can’t stand) is the main vocalist and guitarist of the rock band The Misfits. She dresses in classic 1980s garb, with neon green, hot pink, and animal print from head to toe. She wants fame above all else, and harbors jealousy towards Jem.
He-Man
He-Man is the main hero of the Masters of the Universe series, which span across comic books, an animated television series, and a feature film. He must protect his home of Etheria and the secrets of the Castle Greyskull from the wicked Skeletor. His powers include super strength and impressive fighting skills with his sword and battle axe. His famous battle cry is “For the honor of Greyskull!” as now said by She-Ra in the 2018 series. This guide includes costumes for both He-Man and his normal identity, Prince Adam (who you might recognize from the viral Youtube meme “What’s Up/What’s Going On”).
Inspector Gadget
Inspector Gadget is creative, heroic, mild-mannered, determined, brave and kindhearted, although he’s also dim-witted, bumbling, gullible, incompetent, clumsy, and clueless. He also has a horrible judge of character and he thinks that the bad guys are his allies and his allies are his enemies.
He loves his niece Penny with all his heart and would do anything to protect her from harm. In fact, whenever he sees Penny in danger, he becomes competent and goes out of his way to rescue her and save the day.
He is generally incompetent and gets on by not only his simple luck, but also Penny and Brain’s unknown assistance. Gadget thwarts Dr. Claw’s daily schemes, often with secret help from Penny and Brain
In the original cartoon, Gadget has straight black hair protruding from both sides, and a large nose. He wears a light-gray Mackintosh raincoat and trilby hat with a lighter-gray stripe in the middle, blue pants, light-gray shoes, and dark brown gloves.
Orko
Orko is a Trollan who’s accidentally transported by a cosmic storm to Eternia, where he saves a young He-Man. Despite having magical powers they are usually unpredictable and backfire on him. Though he keeps his face hidden, this doesn’t seem to hinder him from finding a girlfriend.
Dennis the Menace
Dennis Mitchell seems like any other cute 5-year-old boy but his neighbor, Mr. Wilson disagrees. He finds Dennis to be a nuisance who’s constantly disturbing him but we all know he secretly misses Dennis when he’s not around.
Rainbow Brite
Rainbow Brite and the seven Color Kids live in Rainbow Land and must do everything in their power to fight off the evil King of Shadows. What else is there to say? In the ’80s when bright rainbow colors reigned, Rainbow Brite out-rainbowed them all.
Jem
Who didn’t want to be Jem during the 1980’s? The second Jerrica Benton touched her holographic earrings Syngergy transformed her into the dazzling rock star, Jem. Between running a foster program for teens, driving a sweet Rolls Royce, and romancing Rio it’s surprising that Jem found time for belting out tunes. But she and the Holograms managed to outperform the Misfits in every episode. And she did it wearing a lot of pink.
