animated sitcom
Koala Man
In an alternate universe called Bushworld where Australia is the world’s superpower and Nicole Kidman its queen, Koala Man (voiced by Michael Cusack) is the alter-ego of Kevin Williams, a middle-aged IT worker who decides to go vigilante. With absolutely no superpowers and a middling costume, he battles evildoers in his town of Dapto.
Betty Rubble from The Flintstones
Betty Rubble stole the hearts of millions when she hit the air with the 1960 premier of The Flintstones. Her husband Barney and son Bamm-Bamm keep her busy most of the time. But when she gets a minute to herself you can probably find her with her best friend Wilma Flintstone.
Betty’s look is pretty iconic. Her dress is easily found as a ready-made costume that usually comes with a blue bow, though some dress tape might be handy for keeping the dress in the right spot. Once you have her dress all you’ll need is a black wig and a gorgeous plum lipstick to finish off her look.
If you plan on wearing the costume out, shoe can get tricky. Many people opt for black pumps given Betty is a bit of a prehistoric pinup. But there are other options such as skin-tone flats or “invisible shoes” like those in this tutorial.
George Jetson from The Jetsons
On the cartoon sitcom The Jetsons, George (voiced by George O’Hanlon) is the husband of Jane and father of Judy and Elroy. Though he is a loving and devoted family man, he often finds himself and his family in ridiculous situations because of poor decisions he has made. George’s outfit consists of a white shirt with popped collar, green belt, and blue pants. By trimming a Ziggy Stardust wig, you can achieve George’s trademark orange hair.
Judy Jetson from The Jetsons
Judy Jetson (voiced by Janet Waldo) is the daughter of Jane and George, and older sister of Elroy. Judy is a typical teenager, with many of her interests revolving around boys and her electronic diary DiDi. Judy wears bright pink clothes and has white hair. By trimming a long white wig with side swept bangs to be shorter, and pulling it into a high ponytail, you can recreate this look.
Elroy Jetson from The Jetsons
Jane Jetson from The Jetsons
On The Jetsons, Jane Jetson (voiced by Penny Singleton) is the wife of George, and the wife of Judy and Elroy. However, Rosie the Robot performs most of the household duties, which frees Jane’s time up and allows her to focus on her love of fashion and gadgetry. Jane wears a futuristic purple dress with pearl earrings.
Tuca from Tuca & Bertie
In Tuca & Bertie, Tuca (voiced by Tiffany Haddish) is a 30-something cocky, care-free toucan who is friends with Bertie, an anxious songbird. Tuca is newly sober and impulsive, working odd jobs to make ends meet and depending on her wealthy Aunt Tallulah for financial support.
Bertie from Tuca & Bertie
In Tuca & Bertie, Roberta “Bertie” Songthrush (Ali Wong) is a songbird who is best friends with Tuca. Bertie is career-driven and anxious, working as a senior analyst at Conde Nest but aspiring to be a baker.
Wilma Flintstone
In The Flintstones, Wilma Flintstone is the red-headed wife of Fred Flintstone. Compared to her counterpart, she is strong-willed and level-headed. For this costume, cut a jagged serrated hem on the white dress for the best accuracy.
Sarah Lynn from BoJack Horseman
In BoJack Horseman, Sarah Lynn (voiced by Kristen Schaal) is a pop star and actress who played BoJack Horseman’s adoptive daughter Sabrina on the sitcom Horsin’ Around. Long out of work, Sarah Lynn is now troubled and reckless, dealing with substance abuse and relationship issues.
