Ariel from the new Disney 2023 film, The Little Mermaid is played by Halle Bailey. This live action version of the beloved animated film is a fun and refreshing new take on the original. Ariel is just as stylish on shore as she is under the sea! On land she wears a frilly light ocean blue dress that is perfectly fit for a princess. The details in her costumes throughout the film reflect the theme of the sea and all things underwater. The light and airy ruffles on her dresses remind us of waves, and the ruching resembles patterns on fish. Other than blue, she also has lots of pink details.

Princess Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) is the protagonist of the Disney animated movie, The Princess and the Frog. She works as a waitress with big dreams of opening her own restaurant to serve her homemade beignets and gumbo. She meets Prince Naveen as a frog, and when she kisses him, she turns into a frog as well! Together they journey off to find a solution while falling in love along the way. After outsmarting Dr. Facilier, they marry and become human again, for they realize they are what each other needed to become their best selves. Tiana makes history as the first Black Disney princess, and her story will continue in an upcoming self-titled Disney+ series. Her wedding dress is inspired by the bayou with its green color palette and lilypad elements.

Belle is a main character in the 1991 Disney animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. She lives in France with her father and town inventor, Maurice. Although he can be eccentric, she loves him very much. Belle is somewhat of an outcast herself in the quiet village, as she is a headstrong girl who’s always seen reading a book. Gaston tries to woo her, but she rejects his shallow and arrogant advances. Upon taking her father’s place as captive, Belle learns to love the Beast, and they both realize beauty comes from within. This is the dress she wears when dancing with the Beast to the title song, sung by Mrs. Potts.

Cinderella is a classic princess from the animated film in 1950. Based on the fairytale of the same name, she works as a maid for her wicked stepfamily. They forbid her to attend Prince Charming’s ball, but the Fairy Godmother arrives to cast a spell to make her wish come true. Now with a carriage, horses, and dress, Cinderella can enjoy the ball, but she must return before midnight. She dances with the prince and falls in love. She loses her glass slipper, which is how he finds her. The shoe fits, and together they live happily ever after.

In Wreck It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet, Vanellope Von Schweetz encounters her fellow Disney princesses. Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen) wears pajamas for the slumber party featuring a red letterman jacket and black jeans. The gold accents on the jacket are actually Mushu! Princess Elena Castillo Flores is the eponymous star of the Disney Junior show, Elena of Avalor. After saving the magical kingdom of Avalor, she must learn how to reign as its new princess. Voiced by Aimee Carrero, Elena is the first Latina princess in Disney history.

In Wreck It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet, Vanellope Von Schweetz encounters her fellow Disney princesses. Princess Jasmine (voiced by Linda Larkin) wears pajamas for the slumber party featuring a turquoise tank top and glittery blue leggings.
