King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph
King Candy (voiced by Alan Tudyk) might look like a sweetheart but he’s the biggest villain on the track in Sugar Rush. And his villainy doesn’t stop when the flag drops. When Ralph threatens the sweet setup the King has going, he lets the big guy see the full force of his royal anger.
As the King it makes sense that King Candy’s outfit is one of the most lavish in the game. His crown is narrow but tall, sitting high on the bald dome of his head. It might be hard to find an exact match for the crown but a bald cape and some fake eyebrows repurposed for the wings on the side of his head will at least give you the royal ‘do. A purple coat with tails, a red bow tie, gold pantaloons, gold tights, and purple shoes are the most eye-catching parts of his outfit.
There is a little bit of DIY with this costumes, however. Gold harem pants can be shortened into the King’s pantaloons since finding a pair ready-made is very hard to do and expensive. And the white shirt under the coat can be accented with white paper doilies to recreate the large ruff of the King’s coat. Use a red sharpie to color in the peppermint swirls at the top of the doilies and find yourself a costume cane and you’re ready to go!
Candlehead from Wreck-It Ralph
In Wreck-It Ralph, Candlehead (Voiced by Katie Lowes) is the space case among the racers of Sugar Rush. This game within a movie is home to lots of adorable little race car drivers, all of them sugar sweet in costume even if their personalities are a little sour. Candhead, however, is sweet inside and out. She’s the comedian of the group and loves to have a good laugh.
Dressing up as Candlehead takes a little bit of handiwork. A brown beanie, pink felt, and an LED candle can be combined to recreate her hat. After that you just need a pink track jacket, brown shirt, pink skirt, brown leggings, black boots, and pink laces for her outfit. Don’t forget a green wig styled into pigtails to round out the costume!
Young Induna from Frozen 2
Queen Induna is a character in the Frozen movies. She was the mother of Elsa and Anna, who died in a storm at sea with their father and husband, King Agnarr. In the second movie, we learn they sailed to find the Ahtohallan, which harbors the secret to their daughter’s ice magic. We also learn Induna was part of the Northuldra tribe because of the pattern on her shawl. Upon reaching Ahtohallan herself, Elsa discovers that the voice calling to her was the memory of young Induna’s call. Because of Induna’s selfless act of saving young Agnarr, nature gifted Elsa with ice powers, making her the fifth spirit. Although we only see her through very few flashbacks, young Induna appears in bonus footage with young Agnarr. For this costume guide, wrap the purple ribbon around the tops of the boots.
Prince Naveen
Prince Naveen is a character in the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. He is the Prince of Maldonia. He takes pride in his looks and charm, but he is spoiled and lazy. As a result of his antics, his parents cut him off, and he finds himself down on his luck. Therefore in visiting New Orleans, he hopes to marry a wealthy girl. After taking the deal from Dr. Facilier, Naveen gets turned into a frog, and only a kiss from a princess can break the spell. Tiana tries to kiss him but gets turned into a frog herself. At first, his immaturity turns her off, but he learns to take responsibility and help those in need, which leads to their romantic relationship. Realizing they need each other, they marry and become human again.
Rapunzel from Tangled
In Tangled, Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) is the rightful princess of the kingdom of Corona, but she is stolen by Mother Gothel as an infant because of her hair’s magical powers. Locked away in a tower for most of her life, Rapunzel’s closest companion is a chameleon named Pascal. Rapunzel is effervescent and excited by all that life has to offer, especially once she escapes from her imprisonment. Rapunzel wears a pink and purple skirt with a corseted top, and of course has extremely long, flowing blonde hair throughout most of the film. Her look can be recreated in a number of ways, by layering different pieces, or simply using a Renaissance corset dress, depending on how much time you wish to spend working on it. You could take it to the next level by using a gold fabric paint to add filigree details to the skirt and corseted top.
Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean
Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) barely remembers his father, the infamous Bootstrap Bill, but when it comes to the pirate’s life, the young blacksmith’s memory is jogged well by a lifechanging encounter with Captain Jack Sparrow. (You have heard of him, haven’t you?) Though his beating heart resides in a locked box following the events of At World’s End, it truly belongs to Turner’s lover-turned-wife, Elizabeth Swan.
