Cosplay at Anime NYC 2022

Anime NYC 2022

Not even the weekend windchill could stop fans from flocking to Anime NYC 2022.  With booths from Aniplex, Crunchyroll, and Viz Media, plus various panels and voice actor guests, attendees got their fill of all things anime. The dealers room showcased figurines, plushies, and mystery boxes while the artist’s alley supplied original artwork of beloved characters. Other features of this year’s convention included a Cosplay Central (similar to New York Comic Con), Gundam Expo, and an arcade section.

The most popular fandoms for cosplay were Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

While masks were required, please note that some cosplayers took off their masks for photographs.

Here are our some of our favorite cosplays from the convention. If you see yourself or someone you know, contact us!

We saw double with these Kakegurui cosplayers! Yumeko Jabamis and Mary Saotomes pictured from left to right: @v1x3nv01d, @rakas_c0splay.closet, @bricosplay1998, @thewonderfulweirdoweeb.

This year, Arcane: League of Legends was a hit with fans. Here are cosplayers dressed as Jinx and Silco.

Perhaps the most popular couples cosplay at the con was Loid and Yor Forager, as pictured here, from Spy x Family.

An adorable cosplay of The Prince from Katamari Damacy.

The Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure cosplay meetup on Sunday garnered a huge turnout. Here are cosplayers dressed as various characters from Part 5: Golden Wind.

You dare approach me? Dio Brando and Jotaro Joestar prepare to face off!

We were quivering in fear of this Man Ray cosplay from Spongebob!

Some attend anime conventions in Japanese fashion, abbreviated as J-Fashion. This individual embraced lolita fashion with ruffles, bows, and pastels.

Who’s that Pokemon cosplayer? It’s Mimikyu! The tulle skirt adds a touch of elegance to the Disguise Pokemon.

Like Deku, you’ll regret messing with this Bakugo cosplayer from My Hero Academia!

Carrying this many boxes as Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding is dedication.

A lovely Princess Daisy cosplay from the Super Mario video games.

A Cloud from Final Fantasy cosplayer with his very own Buster Sword!

A cosplay of Cabbage Man from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Fortunately, no one crashed into his cart at the con.

This group cosplay gave us nostalgia for the animated Winx Club, featuring Flora, Bloom, Stella, and Aisha.

Another example of J-Fashion, as illustrated with this beautiful, almost bridal inspired dress worn by @jackiehernan_.

This Porco Rosso cosplay was a hit, and brings some much deserved love to an underrated Studio Ghibli movie!

Chainsaw Man was by far one of the most popular anime fandoms at this year’s show. How many Denjis and Makimas can you count in this picture?

A group of One Piece cosplayers strike a pose for photos.

It simply wouldn’t be an anime convention without cosplay from Dragon Ball Z!

These ghouls look fang-tastic in their Monster High cosplays as Clawdeen Wolf, Ghoulia Yelps, and Draculaura.
