White and Nerdy is a persona of Weird Al Yankovic
shown in the music video for the titular song from his 2006 album Straight Outta Lynwood. The look and song is a parody of Chamillionaire’s hit song “Ridin’ Dirty.”

Queen’s 1984 video for their song, “I Want To Break Free” featured the foursome dressed in drag as characters from “Coronation Street” a long-running soap opera from the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, MTV execs and fans in the United States didn’t get it and it caused a minor controversy, stalling their career stateside, until at least the early 90s, after frontman, Freddie Mercury’s death. The video is now considered a camp classic.

In the music video for “This is America”, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) raps and dances as an expression of various themes including being black in America, gun violence, and police brutality. His gold chains are a nod to slavery, his movements to caricatures of Jim Crow, and the yellow shoes, who knows. Sew black buttons on the fly to get the pants matching as close as possible.

In Blink-182’s music video for “First Date,” Tom DeLonge assumes his alter-ego Boomer, a crude and inconsiderate dimwit. Not much is known about Boomer other than that he has kissed his own brother, and is currently in prison for “undisclosed reasons.” For this costume, pretty much any lightly-colored yellow shirt will work.

Arial Tetsuo is a Japanese fictional pilot for the video game series Wipeout. This version of her is from the British electronic group Fluke used in the music video “Atom Bomb”. She is shown as an anime-styled and human modeled character in the video.

Robin is a Swedish animated character who made his first appearance in a Radiohead music video for “Paranoid Android”. Since then, a real-life version has made cameos in videos for the recently released singles for the OK Computer re-release OKNOTOK, “I Promise” and “Lift”.

Ariana Grande is a singer and actress who made her debut on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and Sam & Cat. She started her musical career dressing modestly, but soon traded that in for crop tops, short skirts, and knee-high boots. She likes to accessorize with a long ponytail or bunny ears, like in the music video for the a capella version of “Dangerous Woman”.

Tyler Joseph’s alter ego Blurryface is well known because of the Twenty One Pilots hit “Stressed Out”. He represents all of Tyler’s insecurities and feelings of grief.
