Human Shrek from Shrek 2
In Shrek 2, the usually unattractive ogre Shrek finds himself temporarily transformed into a handsome human. In his new form, he must thwart Fairy Godmother‘s plan to have Fiona fall in love with Prince Charming. Because his body changes size when he transforms, Shrek must steal new clothes when he becomes a human. His new look includes dark green leggings, a tunic, and a red and green vest. You may not be able to find an exact match for his vest, so choose one with a similar color palette or a silhouette. Finish your look with a great head of brown hair, and brown shoes.
Doris the Ugly Stepsister from Shrek 2
In Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third, Doris (voiced by Larry King!) is one of Cinderella’s step-sisters, who works as a bartender. She puts forth Puss in Boots to King Harold for the task of assassinating Shrek. Eventually she ends up as part of Princess Fiona’s inner circle. Whether she’s ugly is subjective — Simon Cowell certainly thinks so — but her makeup with gaudy eyeshadow, pencil-thin eyebrows, and prominent mole, is ultimately what makes or breaks this cosplay.
Warrior Fiona from Shrek Forever After
Fiona is a character in the Shrek movies. In the first movie, Fiona was introduced as a beautiful princess placed under a curse that transforms her into an ogre at night. Initially, she seeks a prince to kiss and break the curse, but she ends up meeting and falling in love with Shrek instead. However, in Shrek Forever After, she is an empowered warrior in an alternate timeline where she never meets the anti-social ogre. She leads an ogre army to take down Rumpel and the Dragon.
Puss In Boots from Shrek
Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) is a main character in the Shrek movies. Based on the fairytale as well as Zorro, he first appears in the sequel as a mercenary sent by the king to assassinate Shrek. However he ends up befriending him and becoming his ally. Puss in Boots is known to overpower enemies by distracting them with his “cute kitten” face. Despite his wit and sword skills, he acts like an ordinary cat. In particular, he is known to cough up hairballs. For makeup, you can use orange and white face paint. You can draw on his whiskers with a white eye pencil.
Pinocchio from Shrek
Pinocchio is a recurring character in the Shrek movies. Like the Big Bad Wolf, he first appears as one of the fairy tale characters that was exiled to Shrek‘s swamp. In the sequel, Pinocchio becomes one of his best friends. He often gets into trouble by lying, which makes his nose grow. He gets turned into a real boy by Fairy Godmother‘s magic wand, but he ultimately gets turned into puppet again. Pinocchio appears in several of the Shrek video games as well. Attach three yellow felt circles down the shirt to resemble his buttons. You can sew them on or simply use hot glue. For added detail, you can also glue a leaf sprig to the fake nose.
Prince Charming from Shrek
Prince Charming is the antagonist of the second Shrek movie. Unlike the Cinderella fairytale, he has malevolent intentions. He ventures to the tower where Princess Fiona had been imprisoned, but instead he finds the Big Bad Wolf sleeping in her bed. The wolf explains Shrek rescued and married her already. Prince Charming tricks her into thinking he’s Shrek, having been turned human from a potion, and almost gets away with it. However it’s revealed his mother is the Fairy Godmother, who wanted her son to marry Fiona so he could become king. Use the gold trim on the wrists of the striped shirt and along the blue waistcoat for some added royal flair. And don’t forget that charming smile!
Lord Farquaad from Shrek
Lord Farquaad is the main antagonist in the first Shrek movie as well as the musical. In spite of his small stature, he is a ruthless ruler of Duloc. He banishes fairytale creatures from his kingdom so it’s a “perfect place.” In attempt to pursue and marry Princess Fiona, he sends Shrek and Donkey to rescue her from her tower. When Fiona becomes an ogre, he rejects her, but he meets his demise when the dragon eats him. If you want to get creative with the costume, try making a pair of little legs out. Slip the trousers and boots onto pool noodles or pipe, and stuff the ends of the boots with newspaper. Affix the legs to underneath the jacket, and wear a pair of black pants so the legs look believable. An easier route is to paint little legs onto the thighs of black pants. Kneel and drape the cape to hide your real legs, and the effect is complete!
King Harold from Shrek
King Harold is a supporting character in the Shrek movies. He is the king of Far Far Away and the father of Princess Fiona. Inspired by “The Princess and the Frog,” Harold was born a frog, and a kiss from Queen Lillian turned him human. In the second movie, it’s clear the king doesn’t like Shrek, prompting a fight at the dinner table. He conspires to kill Shrek with the Fairy Godmother because she wants her son, Prince Charming, to marry Fiona. When he sees his daughter’s unhappiness, the king feels guilty, and makes a last minute decision not to use the magic potion against her. He makes the ultimate sacrifice by jumping in front of her wand blast towards Shrek, which kills the Fairy Godmother but turns him back into a frog. He apologizes to Shrek and gives his blessing to marry Fiona. In the third movie, on his deathbed, Harold tells Shrek to find Arthur Pendragon if he doesn’t want to be the next king. King Harold was voiced by comedian and Monty Python member John Cleese. Use the white face paint to color your brows and draw on a goatee.
Queen Lillian from Shrek
Queen Lillian is a supporting character in the Shrek movies. She is the queen of Far Far Away and the mother of Princess Fiona. She makes her debut in the second film, where her daughter has turned into an ogre. Although confused, Queen Lillian accepts her transformation and marriage to Shrek, as she values her daughter’s happiness. In the third movie, following the death of the king, she becomes more determined and independent. It’s revealed Fiona inherited her fighting skills from her mother, as she helps the damsels in distress fight for themselves. The role is voiced by famous actress Julie Andrews. To style the wig, tease the bangs and sweep them to either side. Secure the bottom of the wig into the gold hair net and set with hairspray.
Arthur Pendragon from Shrek
Arthur “Artie” Pendragon is a character from the third Shrek movie. King Harold is on his deathbed, so Shrek and Princess Fiona are next in line as king and queen. When Shrek denies the crown, the king tells him to find Arthur — his nephew and therefore the only suitable heir. Unfortunately, Artie is known as a loser amongst his peers. With the help of Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots, as well as the wizard Merlin, he defeats Prince Charming takes his rightful place on the throne. The role is voiced by famous singer Justin Timberlake.
