Toriel from Undertale
Toriel is the second creature the protagonist meets in the pixelated game Undertale. She meets them in Flowey and is the caretaker of the Ruins. She is also the mother of Asriel. Toriel is a goat-like creature with white fur, long ears, and horns. She wears a long, flowing purple dress with white sleeves. To create your costume, you’ll need white fuzzy shoes and a headband with horns and long animal ears. You can find replica costumes for Toriel, but they can be expensive. If you’d rather choose a dress that’s similar even if it isn’t an exact match, you may also want to use a white bandana to cover your hair.
Mettaton from Undertale
Mettaton is a robot with a soul who appears in Undertale. Spamton includes several references to Mettaton in Deltarune. Mettaton’s original appearance is a box with rectangular lights, but he is eventually transformed into a more humanoid body created by Alphys. To create your Mettaton costume, you’ll want to start with a metallic shirt and gloves, black pants, and pink boots. Then, don a set of black shoulder pads and layer a black tank top with pink skull and crossbones over top. Add a pink heart sticker to a metallic silver belt and don’t forget your emo wig to complete the look.
Dream!Sans from Undertale
Born from the Tree of Feelings, Dream!Sans contains all the happy energy in the universe. Every monster, human, plant, and animal’s happy feelings went into Dream’s creation. Twin to Nightmare!Sans, Dream is the peacekeeper, the light bringer. Created by Jokublog as part of an AU (alternate universe) to the game Undertale, Dream has since grown into a beloved character nearly as widespread as the original Sans himself.
Because Sans is a skeleton you have a few cosplay options. One is to use a bald cap and body makeup to achieve a similar look. A second option is making a Dream mask using a tutorial like this one. The best option is whichever you are most comfortable with.
Once you’ve chose the option you like best you will need the rest of the costume. A gold circlet is the main accessory, followed by a yellow cape and star pin. Dream wears a very simple circlet which isn’t easy to find. A simple gold crown comes close or you can make your own circlet using heavy gauge gold wire.
Finish the look with a blue tunic, yellow fingerless gloves, blue pants, a gold belt, and yellow boots.
Nightmare!Sans from Undertale
Undertale is one of those games that, while not exactly a household name, has a dedicated fan base. So dedicated, in fact, that they have made up sprawling alternate universes filled with lore and characters all based off the original game by Toby Fox. One such alternate universe is Dreamtale created by Tumblr user Jokublog. A battle-ready villain, Nightmare is one of the most terrifying version of Sans – a skeleton in the original game – out there today.
Putting together a Nightmare Sans costume takes a fair bit of DIY. And, unfortunately, a tolerance for wearing a number of layers.
The largest chunk of the DIY will go toward making your tentacles. Buying premade costume tentacles is very expensive. However this tutorial walks you through making your own using pool noodles from the dollar store. They will take some time but will be more affordable than buying them premade.
The second bit of DIY comes into play when you prepare the body suit. Nightmare has a permanent and unsettling grin as well as one eye that is always battle-ready blue. Soft touch paint lets you apply both to the hood and mask of your body suit which will also give your head the bone-smooth appearance of a skeleton without a bald cap. It will be a little tricky to see through the body suit for long periods of time but it still makes for an excellent Sans.
Once the DIY is done all you will need is a black zip-up hoodie, a black t-shirt, black shorts and black shoes. You should also grab some black ankle socks. They won’t be visible when you’re wearing the costume but they will make walking in the body suit more comfortable.

Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale
Asriel Dreemurr is the son of Toriel, who passed away before the events of Undertale. Although you won’t recognize him in the beginning, a sadistic, soulless version of Asriel — a mere shadow of his cute, docile younger self — is the first character you meet in the game.
Dusttale Sans
Sans swore he’d never kill a human, but in the fan-made AU storyline to Toby Fox’s Undertale game called Dusttale, Frisk’s repeated genocidal actions force his hand. DustSans’ jovial nature is overridden with by a bloodthirsty desire for vengeance and violence. This alternate reality Sans’ eyes are purple and red — a Sans mask can be repainted with acrylic to reflect this if desired.
Fresh Sans
In the Undertale AU, Fresh!Sans is a Sans variant that dresses in epic 80s multi-color clothes. Fresh is actually a parasitic monster that has taken control of Sans, causing him to lack emotion and be unable to love. If you’re going with the latex mask, best to make your own large YOLO sunglasses. The pre-made YOLO sunglasses listed above work best if you’re going to use face-paint for Sans’s head. In this case, paint in the YOLO letters to get the best match. Other AU Sans include Error!Sans, Ink!Sans, Underswap!Sans, and Underfell!Sans.
Error Sans
In the Undertale AU, Error Sans is the destroyer of AUs, in opposition to Ink Sans. He is insane, bent on destroying everything he considers a glitch in the multiverse, using blue string to tie up and shatter souls.
Underswap Sans
In a certain Undertale AU, Underswap, where two character’s identities are swapped. Underswap Sans has the personality of Undertale’s Papyrus. Sans, known as “Blueberry”, is the younger brother of Papyrus and a major character in Underswap. He is agreed, by many, to be adorably cute.
