Ballgown Belle
Belle is a main character in the 1991 Disney animated classic, Beauty and the Beast. She lives in France with her father and town inventor, Maurice. Although he can be eccentric, she loves him very much. Belle is somewhat of an outcast herself in the quiet village, as she is a headstrong girl who’s always seen reading a book. Gaston tries to woo her, but she rejects his shallow and arrogant advances. Upon taking her father’s place as captive, Belle learns to love the Beast, and they both realize beauty comes from within. This is the dress she wears when dancing with the Beast to the title song, sung by Mrs. Potts.
Gaston from Beauty and the Beast
Ask any Tom, Dick, or Stanley, and they’ll tell you they want to be on Gaston’s team! After all, no one hits, matches wits, or spits (well, expectorates) quite like him — and his antler-decorating skills are unmatched in all of Gaston’s provincial French village! Gaston (voiced by Richard White) sure has let the praise his followers bestow upon him get to his head. He acts like he’s Walt Disney’s gift to women, much to the chagrin of one Belle.
Belle
In Beauty and the Beast, when she’s not sticking her nose in a book, you’ll find sweet Belle day dreaming about far away places. Before becoming a full-fledged princess, Belle stayed locked away in a castle chipping away at the Beast’s cold heart. If you’re lucky, you may find her dancing and singing with the cutlery and tableware.
