Mystique from X-Men

Misunderstood and bullied since childhood, blue-skinned shapeshifter Mystique (played onscreen by Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijn) truly understands anti-mutant oppression. Her early experiences of mistreatment shaped her stance in the fight for mutant equality — or even dominance, as her leader, Magneto, gravitates towards.

Mystique is easily remembered for her onscreen appearances wearing only the strategically-placed blue scales she was born with (requiring Rebecca Romijn to spend hours in the makeup room), but comic book portrayals have been slightly more favorable to cosplayers attending family-friendly venues. You could buy the blue jumpsuit and stop there, but I’ve included some additional garments which draw inspiration from my personal favorite Mystique look from the retro X-Men arcade game.

Bolivar Trask

Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) is responsible for the Sentinel program, a troop of robot soldiers developed to hunt and kill mutants. While Trask admires mutants, he also fears them. His program will eventually lead to the destruction of the mutant race. The Sentinels are so destructive a force that the X-Men must travel back in time to stop their existence.

Blink

Blink (Bingbing Fan) is a vital member of the X-Men, with her dimension warping powers of teleportation. She is an integral part of the team that’s trying to save mutant kind in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Quicksilver

In X-Men: Days of Future Past, speed is the name of the game for Quicksilver (Evan Peters). With the ability to move faster than sound, he’s spent a good part of his teen years as a petty thief. That is until he’s called to a greater cause – one to help the X-Men.

Charles Xavier aka Professor X

In X-Men: Days of Future Past, reformed playboy Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) is out to save mutant kind. The world’s most powerful telepath has a mission, and his mission has come from the future. He and his team will team up to stop Mystique’s plan before it ruins the future for all mutants.

Raven Darkhölme aka Mystique

Before she was Mystique she was Raven Darkhölme (Jennifer Lawrence). A girl with a hidden past and shape-shifting abilities, she eventually evolves into a super-villain. She has such a traumatic impact on the future of mutants, that Professor Xavier and the rest of the X-Men must go back to the past to try to change her destructive actions.

Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto

Before becoming super-villain Magneto, he was known as Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender). One of the most powerful mutants on the planet, Erik has the ability to manipulate metallic objects. With mutant extinction as a real possibility, he’ll put animosity aside to team up with Charles Xavier to help save their future in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
