Sylvester the Cat from Looney Tunes
Sylvester J. Pussycat, Sr. (originally voiced by Mel Blanc) is one of the Looney Tunes. A black and white cat, Sylvester has a lisp and uses the catchphrase, “Sufferin’ succotash,” often during his skirmishes with Tweety Bird. To recreate Sylvester’s look, you have a few choices. Replica costumes do exist which include a full-head mask designed to closely resemble the cartoon character. Pair this with white animal paw gloves and slippers to complete the look. Alternately, if full-face masks aren’t your thing, you could use a black and white onesie with the same gloves and slippers, and simply add a black and white cat tail and ears to your costume. As long as you take the time to memorize Sylvester’s signature phrase, there will be no doubt which cat you’re trying to emulate.
Soul Evans from Soul Eater
Soul (voiced in Japanese by Kōki Uchiyama and in English by Micah Solusod), is the titular character of the anime/manga Soul Eater.
He generally shares the main character spot with his meister, Maka, who he cares deeply for despite the two of them nearly constantly bickering with each other. Soul is a scythe-based weapon, capable of transforming a singular limb, or his entire body, into a blade for Maka to wield.
Soul has white, spiky hair, often worn up with a patched headband, bright red eyes, and a mouthful of extremely sharp teeth. His early series outfit consists of a black and golden yellow jacket with soul emblems on it, burgundy pants, and chunky shoes in the same color and style as his jacket.
Boris Airay from Heart no Kuni no Alice
Boris (voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama) is the Cheshire Cat character in the Heart no Kuni no Alice/Alice in the Country of Hearts dating game series/movie.
He is one of the route options throughout the game series, and is an absolute menace to most of the other characters around him, particularly Alice and Pierce (the Dormouse). He’s very fond of riddles, and likes to work with machinery, crafting his own add-ons to weapons.
Boris has golden slitted cat eyes, and short and fluffy dark pink hair, with cat ears set to the sides. His outfit is color-matched to his hair, with a big pink striped boa, and pink zipper/border detailing on his black croptop and skirt/shorts combo, and a fluffy pink tail. He also has several gold jewelry accents, as well as black and pink gloves, matching striped socks, and white shoes with chunky black soles.
Xerxes Break from Pandora Hearts
Break (voiced by Akira Ishida) is one of the secondary main characters of the Pandora Hearts anime/manga series.
He’s an absolute menace of a man with a deep backstory, and is connected to the main characters by serving under Sharon‘s family, the Rainsworths. Currently, he is contracted to the Mad Hatter chain, like Reim with the March Hare, though it takes a toll on his body to use it.
Break has short, fluffy white hair, with a purple gradient over top (stylized shading), and one dull red eye, with the missing one covered by white wrap bandages. He wears an elaborate jacket and shirt combination, with his undershirt being a high, ruffled collar, long sleeved purple, with a white off-shoulder long jacket over top, and a black cravat tying it all together. This is finished off with rolled cuff black pants, and white boots with black and purple detailing.
Yukako Yamagishi
Yukako Yamagishi is a side character in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable. She is a resident of Morioh who attends school with the main characters. She becomes infatuated with Koichi Hirose. She attempts to kidnap him and threaten him with her Stand, Love Deluxe. With this Stand, she can wield her long, flowing hair as a weapon. Although Yukako realizes the error of her ways, she still loves Koichi. She goes to the Cinderella salon to get a makeover to impress him. When it goes wrong, Koichi comes to her defense, and the two become a couple for real.
Kevin Swanson from Family Guy
Kevin Swanson (voiced by Scott Grimes) is the son of Joe and Bonnie Swanson on the animated series Family Guy. Kevin returns on Thanksgiving from a long hiatus on the show as a veteran after he’s been thought killed in action for a long time. During his return, Kevin wears dark jeans, black shoes, and a tan military jacket over a white t-shirt. Once he’s settled back into Quahog, he dons lighter jeans, white shoes, and a green v-neck sweater.
Ethan Daley from Euphoria
Ethan Daley (Austin Abrams) is a recurring character in Euphoria. He is Kat‘s main love interest. Despite his feelings for her, they are on and off again despite never really being in a committed relationship. Ethan also portrays Nate in Lexi’s play, performing a musical number to “Holding Out For a Hero.” All you’d need for that look is a pair of gold pants and white sneakers!
Dudley Do-Right
Dudley Do-Right (voiced by Bill Scott in the cartoon from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show and played by Brendan Fraser in the live-action comedy) is a lovable member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Dudley means well and works hard, but is perhaps not the sharpest tool in the Mounties’ shed. When creating your Dudley Do-Right costume, you’ll first want to make sure you start with the signature red jacket worn as part of his uniform. The original cartoon iteration of Dudley also has a red hat, black boots, and blue pants that puff out around his hips. The live-action version wears striped pants, brown gloves and boots, a tan hat, and a cross-body holster.
Wally Brando from Twin Peaks
In Twin Peaks, Wally Brando (Michael Cera) is the son of Andy and Lucy Brennan. After years of life on the road, he returns to his hometown of Twin Peaks to deliver a moving monologue: “My family, my friend, I’ve criss-crossed this great land of ours countless times. I hold the map of it here, in my heart, next to the joyful memories of the carefree days I spent, as a young boy, here in your beautiful town of Twin Peaks.”
Wally not only shares a name with his namesake, but has the same birthday and Marlon Brando’s biker look from “The Wild One”. To complete the look, get Wally stitched in cursive on the chest of the leather jacket, or apply puffy white fabric paint as a shortcut.
Serial Designation N from Murder Drones
Serial Designation N (voiced by Michael Kovach) is a kindly Disassembly Drone who befriends Uzi Doorman in the web series Murder Drones. The two then work together to stop Serial Designation J from eradicating the Worker Drones. N, as he is commonly known, wants nothing more than to be useful, and empathizes with Uzi and her fellow Worker Drones where other Disassembly Drones do not. N wears a long coat over his white drone body. His eyes and lights that halo his silver hair glow yellow. You can recreate this by adding glow-in-the-dark stickers to a black chauffeur’s cap and wearing light-up glasses. N also has a long black tail that ends in a syringe. Use hazard tape to add some details to your costume.
