Jet Propulsion from Ready Jet Go!
Jet Propulsion (voiced by Ashleigh Ball) is the main character of the PBS Kids show Ready Jet Go! Jet is an alien from the planet Bortron 7 who relocates to Earth with his parents to study its customs. Once they settle in Washington state, Jet befriends Sydney, Sean, and Mindy. Jet has red hair and wears a blue puffy coat with blue pants and grey boots. To make his boots look a little more like they do on the show, you can wrap a red boot lace around them to give them their signature pop of color.
Misumi Nagisa from Futari wa Pretty Cure
Misumi Nagisa (voiced by Lara Cody in the American dub) is a high school student and lacrosse player in the anime series Futari wa Pretty Cure. Nagisa gains the power to turn into the Black Cure, a warrior who fights alongside Yukishiro Honoka‘s alter ego the White Cure. The Verone Academy’s uniform is very straightforward; pair the outfit with a messy ginger wig to transform into Nagisa. If you want to emulate her Black Cure look, you might have to decide how much effort you’re willing to put in to get closer to her appearance on the show. To start, you can deconstruct a purple mess shirt by cutting the arms and midriff off so you can layer it under a black short-sleeved crop top. Then, don a pink belt over a black ruffled tulip skort and pull on black arm and leg warmers. You can hot glue a white bow to the front of your shirt and use iron-on heart patches to add details to the costume. Lastly, if you’re up for a little extra DIY, you can cut and glue ruffled organza lace to add the finishing touch to her look.
Old Man Marley from Home Alone
“Old Man” Marley (played by the late Roberts Blossom) is the mysterious neighbor of Kevin McCallister in the 90s Christmas comedy Home Alone. Marley scares Kevin at first, as he’s rumored to be a serial killer, but it later becomes clear Marley is kind, if a little lonely, and he helps protect Kevin from Harry and Marv during their ill-fated home invasion. To effectively portray Marly, you’ll need some warm layers, a pair of snow boots, and a dark peacoat. Top off the look with a white beard and a metal snow shovel that can be used for both clearing sidewalks and thwarting bad guys.
Andrea Beaumont from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Andrea Beaumont (voiced by Dana Delany) is a character in the Batman cartoon movie Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. The one-time fiancee of Bruce Wayne, Andrea eventually becomes the villain Phantasm. If dressing like Andi before her descent into darkness, you’ll need a coppery wig and a sophisticated appearance. A sunhat and white gloves paired with a chic dress will easily get the job done. If your look aligns more with Phantasm, you’ll want to start with a black body suit and pair it with grey gloves, a mask, and a hooded cloak. You can choose to find a replica mask, or opt for a more generic skull face covering. Likewise, finding her scythe glove might not be possible, but you can achieve a similar look by removing the top from a costume scythe and carrying it with you between your fingers.
Princess Mindy from Spongebob Squarepants
Princess Mindy (voiced by Scarlett Johansson) is the daughter of Neptune in the animated series SpongeBob Squarepants. She first appears in the SpongeBob Squarepants Movie, and later in a few episodes. She is good friends with both SpongeBob and Patrick. Princess Mindy is a mermaid, so the most important part of her costume will be the mermaid skirt. From there, some green body paint, a blue wig, and the right accessories will complete the look.
Metro Man from Megamind
Metro Man (voiced by Brad Pitt) is an alien who was sent to Earth by his parents when his home planet was destroyed. As a superhero, he is Megamind‘s original arch-nemesis. Metro Man’s hero costume is white and beige, with a long cape and fringed boots and gloves. To recreate his look, you’ll want to layer a tan singlet and brown over a white body suit. Then, add gloves, boots, and cape, as well as a salt and pepper wig and you’re good to go. An iron-on patch can be added for additional detail to the front of the costume.
Alice Angel from Bendy and the Ink Machine
Alice Angel (voiced in part by Alanna Linayre playing her original voice actress) is a character from Bendy and the Ink Machine. The first female character created by her animation studio, Alice’s popularity was on par with other well-known characters including Bendy and Boris. There are two ways to go about recreating Alice’s look, which will determine which supplies or accessories you may need. If you choose to simply dress as her, you won’t have to worry about body paint and can choose a pair of sheer thigh-high stockings to pair with your black dress, gloves, and heels. If you’re interested in going for the true black-and-white appearance of her original cartoon, you’ll need white body paint for your face, chest, and upper arms, and a pair of white tights. Lastly, don’t forget your wavy black hair, white horn clips, and halo. Use a makeup stick to add black pigment to your lips and draw on Alice’s beauty mark below her right eye. For an extra bit of authenticity, a fabric marker can be used to add black circles to the palms of your gloves.
Helga Sinclair from Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Helga Sinclair (voiced by Claudia Christian) is the secondary antagonist of the Disney animated feature Atlantis: The Lost Empire. She serves as Preston Whitmore’s second-in-command on the expedition to Atlantis which assembles a crew including Milo Thatch and Audrey Ramirez to find the mythical city. Carmelita Spats from A Series of Unfortunate Events
Carmelita Spats (played by Kitana Turnbull) is a spoiled bully at the Austere Academy in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Carmelita bullies the Baudelaires, including Klaus, for being orphans. Carmelita has red hair worn in ringlets with pink bows. Her wardrobe tends toward pink dresses with white tights and short heels. To recreate her look, you’ll want to find a pink dress to build your costume around. Any pink dress can work, though something that is frilly and high-collared will be best, since it will also give you a place to wear her signature brooch, which she eventually gives to Count Olaf.
