The Twins from Atomic Heart
The Twins (voiced by Anita Pudikova) are ballerina robots created as bodyguards for Dmitry Sechenov in the video game Atomic Heart. Known as only Left and Right, the humanoid Twins were created with the most advanced technology available, making them as deadly as they are lovely. The twins have smooth silver faces and lithe bodies. To recreate their look, you can start with a full head-to-toe metallic silver bodysuit and layer a black leotard overtop. If you don’t have hair long enough to style as a braided crown, use a wig, but either way, you’ll want to go heavy on the gold hairspray to get as close to the static metal hair look as possible. Depending on which Twin you choose to play, you may also need a gold cropped jacket. Lastly, add a red star sticker to the center of your expressionless forehead and, if you’re feeling particularly ambitious, you can also add gold details to your elbows, wrists, knees, and feet with some fabric paint.
Mother Miranda from Resident Evil Village
Mother Miranda (voiced by Michelle Lukes) is the antagonist of Resident Evil Village. Mother Miranda was once a biologist who became a cult leader after she is infected by the Mold following the death of her daughter. Mother Miranda experimented on villagers in the hopes of reviving her daughter, including Alcina Dimitrescu. Eventually, she kidnaps Rosemary Winters, which draws Rose’s father Ethan as well as Chris Redfield to the Village in an attempt to thwart her. Mother Miranda’s most recognizable costume includes a gold headdress and ornate black wings. To recreate her look, you can start with a black and silver renaissance gown and fingerless gloves. Add the wings and drape a folded scarf over your shoulders. If your hair is too dark, you can don a blonde wig, though it will be covered with a head wrap. Lastly, you’ll need your gold crown and face chain mask to complete the look.
Whiskey from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Whiskey (played by Madelyn Cline) is the girlfriend of Duke Cody working to build her brand by any means necessary in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Whiskey quickly strikes up a rapport with Andi Brand once they are on the island, and is caught having an affair with Miles Bron by Detective Benoit Blanc. Whiskey arrives for the trip wearing white cut-offs and a white tie-front crop top with tasseled boots. For dinner, she dons a rust-colored dress with side cut-outs. She always wears a gold necklace with her astrology sign, Taurus.
Andi Brand from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Cassandra “Andi” Brand (played by Janelle Monae) is the former business partner of billionaire Miles Bron in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Scorned by her former friends, Andi unexpectedly arrives at a private island murder mystery party to stir things up as Detective Benoit Blanc investigates. Andi’s dinner party attire consists of a crisp white suit, studded gladiator sandals, and gold open hoop earrings. Andi also wears two one-shoulder dresses.
Professor Turo from Pokémon Violet
Professor Turo is the husband of Professor Sada and the main antagonist of Pokémon Violet. He is the primary professor at Uva Academy. Unlike his wife, Professor Turo’s outfit is very futuristic-looking, which can cause a little bit of a challenge when recreating the costume, but also offers some chances to get creative. Most importantly, Professor Turo wears a white lab coat with blue square buttons. You can purchase a regular lab coat and add new buttons to it if you’re up for a little DIY. His bodysuit is another story and you can achieve a similar appearance in a few different ways. A wetsuit in similar colors will give you a very close match, but a set of compression wear may be the more comfortable choice. Lastly, a pair of slip-on shoes and a beard complete the look.
Duncan Idaho from Dune
Duncan Idaho (played by Jason Momoa) is a swordmaster in the service of House Atreides. In Dune, Duncan helps train Paul Atreides before his death. In the 2021 film, Duncan has long wavy hair and a muscular build. He often wears a stillsuit after moving to Arrakis in the service of Duke Leto. To make your own stillsuit, you may need to get a little creative, as padded pieces that look the part are often the wrong color. Don’t be afraid to experiment with a little spray paint to get the look you want. Duncan also wears more casual clothing when training Paul, and any costume will be enhanced with a short, straight sword to help look the part.
Dabi from My Hero Academia
Dabi (voiced by Hiro Shimono and Jason Liebrecht) is a member of the League of Villains in the anime and manga series My Hero Academia. Dabi’s Quirk allows him to wield blue flames. His intense dislike for Pro Heroes and tendency toward destruction make him a powerful foe. There are plenty of Dabi costume sets available for purchase if you’re looking for an easy way to recreate his look. Depending on which point in the story you prefer, you may need to add either a white or black wig and boots. You can also DIY his costume with a black frock coat, scoop neck t-shirt, black pants, and a silver belt. For the burnt remnants of his skin, use purple body paint to cover large portions of your face, neck, and arms. Then use a black body crayon to create the illusion of folds and wrinkles. Lastly, use a small brush and metallic silver body paint to add the staples.
R.M. Renfield from Renfield
R.M. Renfield (played by Nicholas Hoult) is the displeased associate of Count Dracula in the horror comedy Renfield. Doomed to a life of servitude to the undead Count, Renfield has had enough and seeks to leave the vampire’s service. Renfield wears a number of outfits throughout the film, including a dark green suit and a snazzy mauve sweater that eventually ends up spattered in blood. Unfortunately, the vintage Ralph Lauren colorblock sweater he wears to his support group will set you back a couple of hundred dollars secondhand, so don’t be afraid to find a similar multicolored piece in muted tones.
Professor Sada from Pokémon Scarlet
Professor Sada is a character from the video game Pokémon Scarlet. Alongside her husband Professor Turo, she serves as a main antagonist of the game. She is the primary professor at Naranja Academy. Professor Sada wears a fur-trimmed lab coat over a pair of orange shorts and a matching cropped tank top. She also dons a pair of orange leg warmers and brown sandals. To DIY her fringed attire, take a pair of scissors to an orange tank and shorts. An orange necklace with a shark’s tooth or a multi-tooth necklace without orange may suit your needs, depending on your preference. Likewise, Professor Sada’s belt can be achieved with two different waist chains, one in orange and one with dangling shells. To cap off her accessories, add some orange to your hair and nails, as well as a bangle bracelet. If you have a hot glue gun, you can add light pink fur to the collar of her coat. Otherwise, some clever tucking of a faux fur scarf can achieve a similar look.
Diane Foxington’s Goodness Gala Dress from The Bad Guys
Diane Foxington (voiced by Zazie Beetz) is the Governor of California in the animated feature film The Bad Guys. While Governor Foxington typically dons a suit while at work, there are a few occasions in the film when she gets to dress up, including when she attends the Goodness Gala where she dances with Mr. Wolf. At the Gala, Governor Foxington wears a blue pantsuit/skirt combination, silver heels, and glittering jewelry. When recreating the look, you can decide whether you’d like to also wear an orange bodysuit underneath to emulate her orange fox fur. Likewise, you may decide just a headband with ears is enough to get your vulpine intentions across. Otherwise, a mask for your face can be used instead.
