Ally from Dave
On the show Dave, Ally (played by Taylor Misiak) plays the titular character’s girlfriend. An elementary school teacher, Ally is supportive of Dave‘s career aspirations while also working to help him address the insecurities he faces about his body, so they can enjoy a healthy relationship and sex life. Ally is roommates with Emma, who eventually helps Dave by providing him with digital artwork to use for his live shows. While the exact cropped sweater and ringer t-shirt Ally wears are both out of stock online, similar items can be used to evoke the same feel, and a fabric marker can even add the “lover” detail to her t-shirt if you are feeling crafty!
Orla McCool from Derry Girls
Orla McCool (played by Louisa Harland) is the cousin and friend of Erin Quinn on the Netflix show Derry Girls. Orla is a bit strange, and often misses obvious social cues. She is not at all concerned with popularity and even brought her grandfather as her date to the prom. While sarcastic, Orla loves her friends deeply and is quite loyal to them. Orla also has quite the sweet tooth and can often be seen eating candy while wearing some quintessentially ’90s outfits, including loud prints and bold colors, which make some of her looks a lot of fun to sport.
M. Chuck from The Grand Budapest Hotel
M. Chuck (played by Owen Wilson) is a member of the Society of the Crossed Keys and a concierge at another hotel in Wes Anderson’s film The Grand Budapest Hotel. M. Gustave is also a member, and the Society works to help Zero and Agatha prove Gustave’s innocence after Dmitri accuses him of murder. All of the concierges wear tuxedo uniforms of varying colors, Chuck’s is light grey with a black waistcoat.
Makoto Naegi from Danganronpa 3
In Danganronpa 3, Makoto Naegi looks very different from his original appearance in the series. Danganronpa 3 takes place in two parts; in Future Chapter, Makoto is suspected of treason against the Future Foundation, and is then caught with other members of the Foundation including foremer classmates Kyoko Kirigiri, Aoi Asahina, and Yasuhiro Hagakure in a final killing game. Showing off a much more tailored and clean cut appearance in Danganronpa 3 than in previous installments, Makoto wears a slim fitting suit, light colored tie, and dark navy blue sweater vest.
Midas from Fortnite
Midas (voiced in-game by Matthew Mercer) is a Spy Boss for The Agency. Midas’ look is crisp; a vest and tie with dress shirt and pants to match. He is heavily tattooed, with a stylish pompadour haircut. To really recreate this look, you’ll want to go over-the-top with gold accessories and weaponry where you can find it. Some gold body paint and gloves can help achieve the transitional appearance seen here, without requiring you to paint your entire body in metallic gold. Scar wax can be used to create the scar over Midas’ right eye.
Nurse Mildred Ratched from Ratched
In the Netflix series Ratched, Sarah Paulson plays the impeccably dressed and increasingly evil Mildred Ratched. Nurse Ratched was first introduced to the world as the primary antagonist of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The Netflix series serves as a prequel to the film, charting Nurse Ratched’s origins and how she became the tyrannical battleax she is known as in pop culture. To create Ratched’s nurse outfit, your best bet will be to find white items and dye them the appropriate shade of teal. While this may seem intimidating, using Rit fabric dye is actually a very simple and straightforward process, and by following the directions on the bottle, you will be able to better mimic the beautiful color of Ratched’s uniform, which is difficult to find ready-made.
Loona from Helluva Boss
In the Hazbin Hotel spinoff series, Helluva Boss, Loona (voiced by Erica Lindbeck) is the receptionist for Immediate Murder Professionals (I.M.P.), an assassination startup. Loona’s attitude is caustic and apathetic. When her nose is not buried in her phone, she can typically be found shooting acerbic glances at her co-workers. Loona is a hellhound, and her appearance is mostly that of an anthropomorphic black and white wolf. To recreate her costume, you’ll want to accessorize with plenty of wolf-like details including a tail and ears, and then layer her tight shorts and crop top over that. You can always cut the shorts and top to match the slightly tattered look of Loona’s clothes, as well as to show as much or little skin as you are comfortable with.
The Roxbury Guys
Before the movie A Night at the Roxbury premiered, the Roxbury Guys were tearing up the dance floor on Saturday Night Live. While Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan played the brothers Steve and Doug Butabi, they were also often joined by other SNL cast members and hosts including Jim Carrey in one of the most iconic versions of the skit. To hang at the Roxbury, you need a fitted black t-shirt, thick silver chain, and an oversized two-piece suit (the shinier the better), not to mention plenty of hair gel to keep your strands in place while you bop along to “What is Love.”
Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project
In the sixth entry into the Touhou Project game series, Flandre Scarlet is the younger daughter of Remilia Scarlet. Considered by her sister to be dangerously unstable, Flandre has resided in the basement of the Scarlet Devil Mansion for nearly 500 years. Flandre’s most distinctive feature are her multicolor crystal wings, which can be expensive as a prop, but will truly complete the costume. If you have some DIY crafting skills, you may be able to create your own with thick craft wire and rainbow colored crystal pendants.
Marty Byrde from Ozark
In the hit Netflix show Ozark, Marty Byrde (played by Jason Batemen) is a former financial advisor who is tasked with laundering money for a powerful drug cartel in order to keep his family and friends, including Ruth Langmore, safe from harm. Marty is an intelligent and shrewd man who typically sports business casual clothing while he oversees day-to-day operations of his business. His Rolex wristwatch is worth tens of thousands of dollars, so finding a cheaper lookalike may be your best bet. Don’t forget your trusty leather briefcase, so you can keep your laptop on hand for all those last minute financial transactions in order to stay one step ahead of the feds.
