Carbon Costume

The new trailer for the second Beetlejuice film released recently and is called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, planned to release this fall of 2024. The film takes place in the future after the previous one we all know from 1988. Most of the cast is the same as the original, playing their original characters we all know and love. Although, there is one main character that is joining the bunch, played by Jenna Ortega. Her character is named Astrid Deetz. Although we aren’t exactly sure what her story is yet, we know Ortega will bring something new and exciting to the film based on her past performance as Wednesday. Both that series and this film have been directed by Tim Burton.

Astrid’s looks, based on what we can see in the trailer, fit the dark theme of the film and match the rest of the cast while maintaining her own personality. We see her riding a bike through the iconic town we recognize and she wears a striped sweater dress that has been distressed and has a gothic edge to it. When we see her in promo picks along with the rest of the cast who seem to be dressed for what looks to be a funeral, she wears a deep purple coat rather than a black one. In another scene she dresses even lighter, wearing a blue denim jacket with a floral dress. I can’t wait to see the transformation her wardrobe takes throughout the film.

Rizzo is one of the iconic characters from the 1978 musical film Grease, and is played by Stockard Channing. Grease follows the life of high school students in the 1950s, specifically the story of Sandy and Danny who had a romance over the summer before the school year. Rizzo is the fierce leader of the Pink Ladies: a group of girls in matching pink jackets that adopt Sandy into the team.

To dress like Rizzo, wear a black blouse, black pants, a black waist belt and a Pink Ladies jacket. Another is a purple polo blouse with a black pencil skirt.

Maddie is a character from the new rom-com film Irish Wish, and is played by Lindsay Lohan. Maddie finds herself in Ireland as she travels to attend her friend’s wedding. She makes a wish and wakes up as the bride-to-be.

Maddie’s wardrobe is a very fun and colorful one with lots of spring colors. To dress like Maddie wear a yellow knit sweater, a tweed dress with a green waist belt, or a multicolored plaid dress layered with a lighter wash blue denim jacket, cropped at the waist.

In the new comedy/horror film Dream Scenario directed by Kristoffer Borgli, Nicolas Cage plays a character named Paul Matthews. Paul’s life is suddenly changed when he begins to appear in millions of strangers dreams. He has to cope and navigate life with his newfound fame and recognition.

Paul Matthews is an average family man. He wears layers like his green puffer jacket with a fur hood, a brown half-zip sweater, and a blue shirt. He pairs this with his glasses, blue denim jeans, and brown boots, creating a layered and recognizable silhouette.

Myron (voiced by Martin Villafana) is a character in the Wayside cartoon movie and TV series.  Friends and classmates with Todd, Dana, and Maurecia, Myron is also the one-time class president of Mrs. Jewls‘ class.  He is a little self-absorbed and can come across as rude as a result.  Myron wears small round glasses and his outfit is comprised of several different shades of green.  His clothing consists of light green shorts with a black belt, and a pale green collared shirt under a green sweater.  Lastly, he wears white socks and olive green and white sneakers.

Saltburn is a new film by Emerald Fennel that follows Oliver Quick as he stays in his rich classmate Felix’s estate, and a series of horrifying events occur. Elspeth Catton is Felix’s mother and is played by Rosamund Pike. She’s Saltburn’s Matriarch and although is careless, becomes a somewhat likable character.

To dress like Elspeth, wear light and flowy pieces that have a bohemian style, like a blue and white printed robe/ cover-up, a navy floral long-sleeve dress, or a red velvet embroidered vest paired with a white button down shirt and blue jeans.

The new 2023 biopic film Priscilla follows Priscilla Presley’s life and her relationship with Elvis Presley. The film is directed by Sofia Coppola and is an adaptation of Priscilla’s book Elvis and Me. In this film, Priscilla is played by Cailee Spaeny along side Jacob Elordi who plays Elvis Presley.

Elvis in this film has costume that are of course inspired by original ones that Elvis Presley wore at different points in his life. One costume features a mostly brown look with a brown tweed blazer, a brown knit sweater, and black wool pants. Another is his summer pool-side look with a black and white vertical striped shirt with navy shorts and a pair of classic orange tinted sunglasses with gold detail.

Lucky Flickerman is a character from the new Hunger Games film: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and is played by Jason Schwartzman. The Hunger Games series of films are based off of the original books by Suzanne Collins. This film takes place 64 years before the original Hunger Games we know. In this new film, we get to see Coriolanus Snow at 18 years old who is assigned to mentor Lucy of District 12 as the 10th annual Hunger Games approaches. Lucky Flickerman is the charismatic announcer and very first host of the games.

Lucky Flickerman dresses for the occasion wearing a red velvet blazer with black details, white shirt, velvet black bow tie, black pleated pants and shiny black dress shoes. To add even more to the costume, add a fun prop mic and stick-on curled mustache.
