Detective Benoit Blanc from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Detective Benoit Blanc (played by Daniel Craig) returns in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.  Hired by Andi Brand‘s sister to take on a case involving Miles Bron and a group of influential friends including Claire Debella, Duke Cody, Birdie Jay, and Lionel Toussaint, Detective Blanc travels to a private island to attend a murder mystery dinner.  Of course, the mystery that truly unfolds is altogether more deadly than the game is meant to be.  Detective Blanc wears a host of vacation-worthy outfits, leaning toward lighter colors and fabrics.  His looks include a light pink shirt with tan pants, white sneakers, and a blue handkerchief for the boat ride to the island, a tan suit with a blue shirt and pink handkerchief for dinner, and a blue and white striped swimming ensemble that appears to be straight out of an old-timey film.

Rem from Death Note: The Musical

Rem is a character that’s found in the anime/manga Death Note, and for this version the focus will be on the live action stage adaptation of the series, where she’s portrayed as a lot more human-like in appearance than her regular shinigami (death god) form. For this specific design I’ve gone with what I believe is Megumi Hamada’s portrayal of her, as there are variations of the character between each version of the musical.

Rem is the shinigami that Misa Amane has ties to, by way of her Death Note, and throughout the series came to care very deeply for her, despite the fact that Misa was human. This comes out even more strongly through the musical soundtrack, with much more love showing through how she sings about and with her.

In this particular version, Rem has pale, pearlescent skin with grey and blue highlighting tones, blue makeup, and long silver-white hair with blue strands trailed throughout it. The outfit she wears is a long, torn and draped robe/dress-like piece with a cloak over top, simple white pants underneath, and white shoes. One standout piece of this design that ties in nicely to the original shinigami form that she has is the extra-long fingernails, mimicking her long pointed fingers.

Baby Gilgamesh from The Eternals

Gilgamesh (Don Lee) is a character in the Marvel film, The Eternals. He’s an Eternal, an immortal, super-powered being created to eradicate Deviants to help populate the Celestial race. Gilgamesh and nine other Eternals get sent to Earth but are forbidden to interact in human conflicts. Although he possesses great strength and fighting ability, he doesn’t look so intimidating when dressed as a big baby! Sprite casted this illusion which made for a funny moment. Affix the rainbow stickers all over the onesie, and use the fabric markers to make the drawings on the bib. Don’t forget to write “Gilga-Mess” in blue!

Elizabeth “Polly” Gray from Peaky Blinders

Elizabeth “Polly” Gray (Helen McCrory) is a character in Peaky Blinders. She was the mother of Michael and Anna Gray and the aunt of Arthur, Thomas, John, Ada, and Finn Shelby. She is the matriarch of the Shelby Family and a part of The Peaky Blinders, a criminal gang and accountant of her surname’s company. While her brothers were absent during WWI, Polly managed the gang and gave business advice to her nephews. She was killed by the IRA as a result of her participation.

jet propulsion from ready jet go

Jet Propulsion from Ready Jet Go!

Jet Propulsion (voiced by Ashleigh Ball) is the main character of the PBS Kids show Ready Jet Go!  Jet is an alien from the planet Bortron 7 who relocates to Earth with his parents to study its customs. Once they settle in Washington state, Jet befriends Sydney, Sean, and Mindy.  Jet has red hair and wears a blue puffy coat with blue pants and grey boots.  To make his boots look a little more like they do on the show, you can wrap a red boot lace around them to give them their signature pop of color.

Misumi Nagisa from Futari wa Pretty Cure

Misumi Nagisa from Futari wa Pretty Cure

Misumi Nagisa (voiced by Lara Cody in the American dub) is a high school student and lacrosse player in the anime series Futari wa Pretty Cure.  Nagisa gains the power to turn into the Black Cure, a warrior who fights alongside Yukishiro Honoka‘s alter ego the White Cure.  The Verone Academy’s uniform is very straightforward; pair the outfit with a messy ginger wig to transform into Nagisa.  If you want to emulate her Black Cure look, you might have to decide how much effort you’re willing to put in to get closer to her appearance on the show.  To start, you can deconstruct a purple mess shirt by cutting the arms and midriff off so you can layer it under a black short-sleeved crop top.  Then, don a pink belt over a black ruffled tulip skort and pull on black arm and leg warmers.  You can hot glue a white bow to the front of your shirt and use iron-on heart patches to add details to the costume.  Lastly, if you’re up for a little extra DIY, you can cut and glue ruffled organza lace to add the finishing touch to her look.

The Once-ler from The Lorax

The Once-ler (voiced by Ed Helms) is one of the key characters in the 2012 adaptation of the Lorax made by Illumination Entertainment.

Once a faceless character in the original version of the book/movie, Oncie takes place at the heart of the story this time around, and we know more about his motivations behind creating the thneed as a product.

He has short and fluffy brownish-black hair, blue eyes, and a light smattering of freckles across his face. While he does have a few outfits throughout the movie, at the start we see him in this rather monochromatic set. He wears a light grey hat, a v-collared white long sleeved shirt, a grey vest over top, two toned striped pants, pointed toed shoes, and occasionally green gardening gloves.

Santa (Aoi Kurashiki) from 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors

Santa/Aoi (voiced in Japanese by Kisho Taniyama and in English by Sean Chiplock) is one of the key characters in the first game in the Zero Escape game series, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors.

While the rest of the characters involved in the Nonary Game in this part of the series were brought along against their will, Aoi and Akane have much greater ties to the plot than the others.

Aoi has white spiked back hair tied down with black hairbands, and greyish blue eyes. He wears a tight white tanktop, black cargo pants, and black and white boots, accessorized by a long and thin black scarf, long black fingerless gloves, and a blcak ribbon wrapped around his upper right arm.

old man marley from home alone

Old Man Marley from Home Alone

“Old Man” Marley (played by the late Roberts Blossom) is the mysterious neighbor of Kevin McCallister in the 90s Christmas comedy Home Alone.  Marley scares Kevin at first, as he’s rumored to be a serial killer, but it later becomes clear Marley is kind, if a little lonely, and he helps protect Kevin from Harry and Marv during their ill-fated home invasion.  To effectively portray Marly, you’ll need some warm layers, a pair of snow boots, and a dark peacoat.  Top off the look with a white beard and a metal snow shovel that can be used for both clearing sidewalks and thwarting bad guys.

Lucia from The White Lotus

Lucia (Simona Tabasco) is a character in HBO’s The White Lotus. She first appears in season two. Lucia is a sex worker who convinces her friend, Mia, to join the industry as well. Together the two girls hustle the rich attendants of The White Lotus resort.
