Andy Dwyer from Parks and Recreation

Andy Dwyer (played by Chris Pratt) is a lovable goofball on Parks and Recreation.  He is also the frontman of local band Mouserat and husband of April Ludgate.  Though he wears many unique outfits throughout the series, he has a yellow short sleeved button down that pops up multiple times.  When he and April roleplay as Janet Snakehole and Burt Macklin, Andy transforms into the renegade FBI agent by donning a blue jacket and brown aviators.

heather tdi character

Heather from Total Drama Island

Heather is a character from the hit Cartoon Network show, Total Drama Island. During its first arc, she was a camper as a member of the Screaming Gophers. She was the main antagonist, labeled as the villainous Queen Bee. Considering her master manipulation skills and drive to win, Heather intimidates nearly everyone on the island. She tries to form alliances only to betray them. Her main enemy is Gwen, the goth loner girl. As one of the most notable characters in the series, Heather frequently returned for its several spinoffs. Her big secret: her hair is actually a wig!

Vala Mal Doran from Stargate

Vala Mal-Doran from Stargate: SG-1

Clueless, coy, and unrequitedly obsessed with Dr. Daniel Jackson, Vala Mal-Doran (Claudia Black) is a newer addition to the cast of Stargate: SG-1. She was first introduced as a guest character during the episode “Prometheus Unbound,” where she and poor Daniel were confined on a spacecraft together. The team continues to encounter Vala throughout the coming months until it’s clear that they (the team and Vala, not Daniel — stop it, Vala) are quite inseparable and belong together forever. Prior to her appointment to SG-1, Vala made names for herself as both the host of the Goauld queen Qetesh, and a fair to middling con artist.

In early appearances, Vala sported a single streak of white in her hair. Eventually, this went away, but Vala continued to style her hair in pigtails or with childish hairclips — a reminder of Vala’s penchant for shiny things.

Eda Clawthorne from The Owl House

Eda Clawthorne from The Owl House

Eda Clawthorne (voiced primarily by Wendie Malick with Dee Bradley Baker voicing Eda’s cursed form) is the rather reckless and trouble-loving mentor in Disney’s The Owl House. She is a powerful witch who ends up teaching a young apprentice almost entirely through accident.

Eda is largely seen in two costumes. And, thanks to her rather voluminous hair, both take a little DIY work. Her main costume is a red halter dress with a ragged edge that cosplayers will have to add in themselves. She also wears tall red boots with this dress and often carries her owl staff. Otherwise Eda is seen in an oversized red sweater, long purple skirt, and bunny slippers when she is lounging in her home.

Greta from The Tea Dragon Society

Greta found a lost tea dragon, and discovered that there is a whole world of tea dragons. She becomes an apprentice for the lost art of tea dragon care-taking under the guidance of Hesekiel and Erik. Greta befriends their ward, Minette, and learns more about tea dragons in the Tea Dragon Society.

Hayley Williams in Cinnamon

Hayley Williams in the “Cinnamon” Music Video

Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams’ aesthetic has evolved considerably since her band’s early 2000s punk-rock heyday. Life events have prompted both an inspiring, thought-provoking solo album and steps away from her iconic orange hair color. The colorful music video for “Cinnamon” concludes a story sequence which, using fantastical and slightly disturbing imagery, conveys Hayley Williams’ recovery process following traumatic life experiences and depression.

Note: In these videos, Hayley Williams wears the front of her hair bleached blond, while the back side is dark brown. In “Cinnamon,” it is heavily teased and tied back with a scrunchie. You can achieve this style by clipping dark brown hair extensions into the back of a blond wig.

Artemis Fowl from the Artemis Fowl Movie

Artemis Fowl

It’s taken close to two decades, but a movie adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s world-famous Artemis Fowl series is finally headed to theaters this summer! Artemis is brought to life by actor Ferdia Shaw. Cosplaying the infamously smug Irish child criminal (with a heart of gold beneath all that precocious bravado) is easy with these components. Some notable stylistic touches to Artemis’s outfit are an extremely skinny tie, reflective sunglasses, and an extra long suit jacket (which can be swapped for a regular-length jacket, if desired).
